Cheryl has taken wonderful and dependable care of our dog and cat over the last few years. Our pets and house are safe and secure under her care and watchful eye. She is unbelievably knowledgeable about furry creatures, and she has given us great advice about pet food and pet care. She is one of the most dedicated fur-people I've ever met, and her love for animals shines through her work.
I never worry about my furry beings while they're in her care. She is in contact with you as often as you want while she's caring for your furry ones. She came recommended to us by a friend who has had Cheryl look after his persnickety kitties for over a decade. He, too, . has never had anything but high praise for her. She has helped him navigate his kitty's health issues as well as care for his cats for weeks at a time.

I had been using Pet-Tenders for a few years and then I moved away for a bit. Upon my return, I promptly called them to watch my cats. We always had the same person watching our kitties and NEVER did we ever have any problems or disagreements with our sitter. Then surprisingly, after scheduling to have use them again, Cheryl told me that her sitter vehemently said she would never work for us because there were so many problems.
I was absolutely shocked by this. Never had I known there were ever any problems. I asked Cheryl to speak to our sitter as I was sure there was a mix up and our sitter had us confused with someone else. Easy to do when you have many clients. And to no avail, she said I was no longer welcome as a client. I hate being blamed for things I never did but that was unreal.

Cheryl has been caring for our babies for years! We would not use anyone else. We can travel with complete peace of mind that our cats will be properly loved, nourished, and medicated while we are away. She listens carefully to every nuance of the needs of each cat and writes everything down to be sure she knows exactly what they need. She takes all the time necessary to be sure we are at ease so that we can travel without worry.
If you live near her, she will care for your pet personally or if you live in another part of town she will assign one of her well-trained and carefully selected pet-loving assistants. We have had both situations and have always been completely satisfied.

I've used Pettenders since I first arrived in San Diego 12 years ago, for taking care of my cats. I was traveling frequently, sometimes for 1-2 weeks at a time, and I didn't feel comfortable putting that much on a neighbor. Pettenders has been great- I've really only had two sitters in all that time, and each spent initial visit recording where I keep things, local contacts and vets, and specific pet needs.
In addition to the usual pet duties they've taken in mail, packages, turned on lights, and occasionally brought a cat toy or two. During the last round of fires, Cheryl saved a spot in her cattery so my two pets could be comfortable and away from the smoke (one cat has asthma). If you want them to they'll call on your return date to make sure you're not delayed (so cats get fed even when a trip gets extended). Highly recommend their services for peace of mind!

I don't really understand all the negative reviews. I have used Pet-Tenders 3 or 4 times in the past 18 months and things have been great. I am a very picky person when it comes to these types of services and I have no complaints about Pet-Tenders. The owner (Cheryl) is very professional and friendly to deal with on the phone. As mentioned in another review, the business has pet sitters for different areas.
My cats have been cared for by Connie, who comes 3 times each day while I am gone. I know she comes every time she is supposed to because my house alarm system shows when someone enters and leaves my house. Whenever I return home, the litter boxes (all 4 of them) are clean, the mail is on the counter, and there is no mess. Connie has also been very accommodating when it comes to picking up or dropping off my house key. I am happy with the services Cheryl and Connie have provided and I will continue to use them.

Please read ALL of the reviews for Pet-Tenders, as Yelp tends to hide the good ones in the filtered section. Cheryl has personally cared for my dogs Ruby and Pancho since 2011. I was introduced to Cheryl from a mutual friend, who highly recommended her services to me. Since then I have had her watch my pups a few times and every time I return my house is the way I left it, my mail is left on my table, and my plants are still alive! Yay!
Most importantly, Ruby and Pancho are happy and content. Cheryl is very thorough and professional, with a great personality and sense of humor to boot. She loves what she does, and is great with animals. I recommend her services to anyone looking for someone to watch their pets. Thank you, Cheryl! :

I've decided to give Pet Tenders a much higher rating after speaking with the owner Cheryl. She apologized for what we had experienced with Janine and assured me that that is not the standard that Pet Tenders upholds. She also offered to pay any expenses we incurred cleaning and purchasing a new fan. She has excellent customer service skills and I will definitely continue to use Pet Tenders in the future.

I used Pet-Tenders when my husband and I went on vacation over Thanksgiving. Typically, we have a neighbor watch our cat, but as they had a baby on the way, we thought we would try a professional service. Pet-Tenders seemed to be a great find, as they bill themselves as a pet/home sitter. The owner of Pet-Tenders uses several different sitters to cover a broad range in San Diego.
Our sitter, Catalina was an issue from the start. When she got in touch with me initially she asked what time I would like to meet with her. I told her 5pm. She then asked me if we could do 10 or 11 am instead. I told her no, since I am off work at 430. The day we were supposed to meet, she called me one hour before our meeting to cancel because she had an emergency.
We rescheduled and she came over for the initial meeting. I was told by the owner, Cheryl, that the initial meeting is about an hour long due to all the questions. I was asked many questions, but Catalina did not seem interested in seeing where certain things were in the house or where to get my mail, even though our box does not match our address and can be confusing.
I showed her how our litter locker worked and she asked if she needed to empty the locker while we were gone. I told her no, because we had just changed the cartridge in the locker. When my husband and I returned, our cat was fine but when we went to check on his litter box, we found both boxes to be full of pee and poop along with more poop on the floor.
The boxes were not scooped all week! Pet-Tenders does deserve the one star rating ( as opposed to zero) since at least Cheryl refunded all my money after I sent her pictures I had taken of the disgusting mess. After our experience with "professional" pet sitting, I am more than happy to use another neighbor for our sitting needs. At sixteen, she provides better service for half the price!

Our dog used to be very unhappy when we picked her up from kennels, so we decided to give Pet-Tenders a try. Now when we come home she seems happy and content. The staff is professional and personable and they go above and beyond. On one occasion, we came home to find a small tube of aloe vera; apparently our pooch had a hot spot and they brought us a homemade gel to help her feel better! We couldn't be more pleased with the experience and would recommend them to anyone.
