If you get voicemail between 12 and 6, please give us time to finish helping the customers in the store and call back in 10-20 minutes. You can also send email to hello@andyspetshop.com. Products are restocked to about 85% of prior levels, not counting items out of stock by the vendor.
Services
Skin, fur, and feathers are routinely discarded in a process called moulting or shedding. Your hair falls out and new hair emerges, just as a bird moults and drops old feathers to allow glorious new feathers to emerge. Stay tuned for info on a very special feather recently moulted by Ruby, the store mascot.

The sweet woman with glasses at the counter was more than happy to provide assistance and information on the products! Definitely would recommend!

Honestly, I dont care what the store sells. The staff is disgustingly rude. I wish I could give 0 stars. And for that reason alone, I avoid this store at all costs. When I was a kid, visiting this store was the highlight of my day. As the years have gone by, the store has gotten worse and worse. I have seen some recent reviews about a woman with short hair.

I had the pleasure of experiencing her today. As I walked in with my kids, we were not greeted which is fine, customers don't always get greeted. As I walked to the back of the store, we saw the same short haired woman at her desk. She didn't look up or acknowledge our presence at all. I said "Hello!" to her hoping that she could help us find what we needed.

She looked up, gave me a NASTY look, then looked back down without saying a word. Not even a simple "hello" back. Wow.at that very moment is when I said NOPE I am not giving my money to these people. As my kids and I walked out, I said "we don't need any help but thanks anyway!" She then walked behind us and slammed the door! Do not shop here. Find another business to support. These people do not deserve to be in business any more. 0 stars!

Visited on 05/28/2022: The description says they have rescue pets so I visited but the rude lady said it was a year ago. So I'm suggesting an edit to the description! I still don't think I would ever go back considering the rudeness.

Love this place but the young girl with short hair is very very rude. Every time I have been in. No idea what her issue is. I know it's not just a bad day.

The best pet shop in town for owners of insect eating pets. This place has all their insects like half the price of Petco/petsmart and they are visibly much healthier and properly cared for.

Stopped into Andy's for the first time and it was a great experience! The women at the desk(didn't catch her name) gave me a good chunk of her time to explain to me the different love insects that they carry! I'm a new baby bearded dragon owner, and fairly novice when it comes to keeping reptiles in general. She gave me the run down on the different nutritional values of each big and made me feel confident leaving the store.

They have a great selection of insects of all sizes(Dubia Roaches, Horned worms, crickets, meal worms), and all for competitive pricing! I often shop on Amazon and at petco for comparison. On top of all the info, she also gave me a sample of some horned worms, so I could see if my lil guy liked him(which he did)! I will definitely be back whenever I run low on insects again! Thanks Andy's!

Guinea pig owners! Andy's is where it's at! I come here almost weekly for a 25 lb box of Timothy hay. They usually have a cute variety of homemade treats for dogs/cats/and PIGGIES! I found out about the Bay Area Pignic because of Andy's. The staff is so friendly and they care so much about animals. I trust Andy's so much, I've never had a bad experience at the store.

They got the new location up and going so fast. I didn't realize how spoiled by Andy's I was until I had to make a trip to Pet smart when they closed. Pet smart is always a sad experience for me, but Andy's is amazing.

I've been coming to Andy's pet shop for food, treats, and toys for my cat and leopard gecko for the past 2 years now. They moved from San Pedro Market area recently, probably due to the business getting affected by COVID. I could only assume their rent by SP2 were pretty pricey. But I'm glad their new location is close to where I work--it's down the street from SJCC. Personally, a much more convenient location.

The store is a bit easy to miss, but look for their Andy's Pet Shop street sign right in front of their stores. Although I have yet to find a parking lot nearby, I haven't had any issues finding parking right on the street. The new store seems like they're still organizing and moving things around, which I had no issues with. Their prices are definitely better than Petco/Petsmart and I really do try to support local SJ businesses, would love for this establishment to stay in the city.

Pet food wise, they have a variety of options for all kinds of pets. I specifically go here for their worms--a much better quality than big stores and my gecko loves their hornworms. They also carry the ONLY cat toy my cat would play with and it costs me 50 cents for those little cat springs. They used to house a bunch of animals but I don't think they do that anymore.

They also used to have vaccine days for cats and dogs at their SP2 location but not sure if they are doing them anymore also. I'll definitely ask an employee next time (: Overall, love supporting this local business and will continue to support them by getting my cat and gecko needs. Also, Lisa (the owner) is a sweetheart and very knowledgeable!

I wished I found this shop sooner! They have so much great quality stuff my pet bunny! A lot of items I bought online, they have here and for cheaper. They have 3 times more selection then a PetSmart or Petco when it comes to small animal supplies. The best part was that they sold flakes of hay for less than $10! And it's good quality hay! Second best part was that sold hay cubes for ONLY $1.50 per pound. Anywhere else you're paying times 5 that!

I love coming to Andy's Pet Shop, and seeing the different kinds of accessories I can get for my bunnies (other than the typical options found at large chain stores like Petco). I was especially delighted to find that they offer large bags of fresh oat hay (that's hard to find locally) and other bunny favorites like the bunny maze and cardboard tunnel (Tunnel Haven). There's such a big variety of items offered for all kinds of pets.

They also have live animals in-store, some available for adoption, including fish, snakes, turtles, birds, mice, guinea pigs, chameleons, and a 35-yr-old parrot. I used to see bunnies here, but I appreciate that this establishment still has a good number of rescued animals, even during COVID. And they seem to be happy and well taken care of. the guinea pigs were especially playful, running around in their habitat.

The employees are friendly, and provided helpful information when we asked about bunny nail trims (it's hard to find places that offer this, and not people who just do cat/dog maintenance but are more educated about rabbits). Also, there is both street parking and a medium-sized parking lot attached to the store. a huge plus in dowtown SJ. So much to love about Andy's! Hope they're around for years to come :)

My family loves Andy's Pet Shop. They know us and we know them. I shared these pictures of our guinea pigs, Zenon and Bartholomew, with the gentleman who helped me because he remembered their names from when we adopted Zenon after successfully matching Bartholomew with his very important help! He said that made his day and made mine in return. Also, they have the best value for oat hay for our boys!

Andy's Pet Shop is the local small business we should all be supporting! The team is always friendly and knowledgeable. All the actual pets available are rescues, not bred for sale, too. Please, take the kids and go fall in love with the pets and team at Andy's!

Was disappointed coming here after seeing the pictures on here of all the great animals we thought they might have. So they have a little parking lot, I realized this when we were leaving. We walked in and walked to the left, they had a couple doves. As we were walking through the store, I couldn't help but think how disheveled the store seemed; things blocking off isles, in other isles, on the floor, etc.

Most cages were empty. They had a couple guinea pigs and some goldfish. They also had a parrot that looked like he may be sick by looking at his chest feathers. Maybe they shed these feathers, I don't know. Saw 2 employees. Maybe covid killed the opportunity they get to get more animals, but there wasn't very many here.

Staff was super friendly and helpful. I had fun shopping here. They have cute critters and good quality products at a reasonable price. I recommend this to anyone who wants to get something for their pet at a very good price.

I love what this place does for animals and I am extremely happy they have been thriving so well over the years. Andy's pet shop has been around since I was a kid. My dad used to take my sister and I here all the time to look at the animals and I've adopted a few rabbits back in the past. I'm glad all of these rescues get a second shot at life. Honestly, there needs to be more pet stores like this who actually care about the animals they adopt.

The staff here can clip rabbit nails for $7. Make sure you call first to see if the rabbit nail clipper is in that day as they are not available for nail trims all the time. They also sell affordable hay, much cheaper than Petco. I picked up some Orchard Hay which was very clean. I also saw an adorable large parrot at the shop that would say "Hello".

When I saw that beautiful parrot it really tested my self control to not take home another pet, so be ready and make a B line for the things you need and do not make eye contact with the cute pets unless you are ready for that responsibility.

Awesome freaking place with knowledgeable staff! Alex went above & beyond to help us with our experience. My fiance & I are first time bearded dragon owners, and he helped us through everything step by step to be prepared for our coming baby dragon! We purchased a 40gal terrarium, calcium with D3 and without, multivitamins, some BSFL, & mealworms. They have it all here! Support small businesses like Andy's rather than going to those big named pet chains!

As always, Andy's never disappoints. My bf and I just got a Russian tortoise & we went to Andy's to pick up some supplies for our boy Travis & by talking to the employee working today(so sorry your name) I literally learned so much more than I did online. I was given a literal packet on how to properly care for my new bud. So grateful for them & their genuine love for animals. They will forever have my business when it comes to pet supplies.

I called to ask about adopting a pair of pet rats. They said they had two male babies that I could get that same day. Before I left for the store, a woman reached out to me about getting a new cage. I said no, because we have a massive rat cage that cost a fortune. She was very doubtful, asked me to send multiple pictures, take measurements, and kept finding reasons why my cage might not be safe.

I shared the manufactures guidance. My cage is GREAT for rats. Suddenly, when it became clear I had no need for a new ($100-$300) cage - I only wanted two $10 rats - I was told the rats were unavailable because there is an extremely long waiting list she hadn't known about. She said many, many people want to adopt these rats. WTF! My daughter was devastated. I wasted so much time. Avoid this store at all cost.

Inadequate staffing and/or inattentive to customers. We asked for help and waited but no help arrived. We even came back before closing and no acknowledgement by anyone actually so we waited for a few minutes but as we looked at employees going about what they were doing just ignoring us I gave up and left. I refuse to help small businesses that are not motivated to want to be helped. I've been here three times and will not be back.

Thank you so much for all the help. This shop is a must for animal lovers. You can honestly tell how much they care for the animals. Currently they have a couple of cats up for adoption if anyone is interested. They have amazing prices and if you have reptiles they have great feeding prices.

Go support your local businesses, especially if they are a rescue pet shop and have a boxer named Mozy(sp?) who helps around the store! Located in downtown San Jose, but had a parking lot for customers. The area next to it might look a little sketch, but the actual location wasn't bad. From the parking lot you can enter through the side entrance, which looked like a little hallway leading to the store.

The store had everything I needed for my 5 yr old leopard gecko, and the employees helped me picked some food for my pet. I picked up some medium sized Dubia roaches and hornworms. I've never gotten hornworms before so they gave me tips on how to keep the hornworms and a case for them filled with food. Also they have a lovely ~35 year old bird named Baby!

Baby is free to roam inside & outside their cage. Andy's also had some rescue kittens, reptiles, guinea pigs along with their supplies. You can tell that each pet is well taken care of and the employees are passionate about what they do. Love this place and will come back for more food, supplies, and pet toys.

The best pet shop in SJ! I come here for all my bunny needs. Hay- I get fresh orchard grass hay and oat hay here for my bunny. You get a discount after you spend a certain amount on hay as well! Food/treats/meds- they have a good variety of bunny treats (oxbow pellets/digestive support treats) but more importantly they had critical care and Sherwood Pet Health small animal rescue mix.

These items are critical for when I suspect my bunny is getting GI Stasis! Everything is affordable and only a fraction of the cost at the vet or other pet shops. They also sell wheat grass and all kinds of other goodies for your rabbit. Grooming- this is what sets this pet shop apart from the rest! When I first got my bunny, I called EVERYWHERE and nobody offered rabbit grooming services!

But Andy's has a whole array of options for your exotic pets! I come here for my bunny's full body grooming service which includes his coat grooming and nail trims. One time in particular, my bunny had gotten his fur all matted up and Zoe was able to clean him all up! Zoe even offers an in home grooming service in which she comes to your house to groom your bunny! Adoption- they also offer animal adoptions for bunnies, cats, guinea pigs, reptiles, rats, etc. There's a whole parking lot in the back which is a HUGE plus especially in the busy dtsj area! And service is always phenomenal. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Check it out!
