The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg is an American Animal Hospital Association accredited, full service companion animal hospital. We care for dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, hedgehogs, rats and all other pocket pets as well as pet birds and reptiles. At The Animal House of Lynchburg, it is our commitment to provide quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet.

Our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets; early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages; and complete medical and surgical care as necessary during his or her lifetime.
Services
We have been serving Lynchburg and the surrounding areas for well over 50 years as a veterinary hospital, since 1999 under Dr. Jean & Dr. Rick Krason. We are a full-service, small animal and exotic veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care to dogs, cats and small mammals as well as reptiles and birds.
At The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg, preventative medicine is the cornerstone of our practice. Through annual wellness examinations and comprehensive diagnostic testing, we can extend the time you share with your greatest companions. Our hospital is equipped to provide full, in-house diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
I am a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. I grew up in southern New Jersey, not far from the shore, but had relatives that lived in Madison County Virginia, where I fell in love with the area. My wife Dr. Jean Krason and I first met out of veterinary school during our first job in McLean, Virginia.
Our In-House Laboratory, allows us to draw blood, and in many instances, have results before the end of the day or sooner if a case is critical. Our hospital has a wide variety of dental capabilities, with not only routine scaling and polishing, but also endodontic procedures such as root canals. To help identify teeth with root pathology that may need extraction, and as a must for doing root canals, The Animal Hospital of Lynchburg is one of the few hospitals in central Virginia that has a digital dental X-ray unit at its disposal.

My dog was struggling to breathe and Dr. Harper and his team listened to her past cancer diagnosis and was able to quickly tell me the cancer spread to her right middle lung lobe. I respected and appreciated his transparency when it came to deciding what was best. Ultimately we chose to put her down so she was no longer uncomfortable or wouldn't get to the point of suffering. His team made me feel comfortable through the process and I'm thankful for their professionalism and compassion.

Animal hospital is amazing, they take their time and provide high quality service making sure each pet gets the care they need. I have 4 dogs and I've been going here for 10 years, they are very understanding and provide personalized care, no pressure for something you don't want done but will inform you and educate you on best available care.

The online site is wonderful and very convenient. The staff and veterinarians are pleasant and knowledgeable. There are cat TVs in the exam rooms. Channels range from the Life of Sparrows to Squirrels That Use Tables.

Awesome as always! Only in today for a nail trim for our dog Bode. The girls took care of our pet with great affection, care and enthusiasm as always! Doctors Rick and Jean Krason have been taking care of our pets for 20 plus years. They're the best people and excellent vets!

I called this hospital due to an actual pet emergency and them being the only vet in the area to see type of pet and was told that due to not accepting new patients that they would not help me and my best bet was to call someone who could. My child watched her pet die because the next closest vet was 2 hours away and would be closed before I had time to get there.

I could understand if it was I just needed a checkup but when we called it was said please help my pet is dying and received no sympathy or help. I'll never bring my pets to a service who clearly doesn't care. Rude service from the beginning doesn't make me think my other pets would be in good care.

The best vet in town. Everyone here really cares about animals and they also show they care about people. The only place in town that treats "exotic" pets as well, such as rabbits, ferrets, and reptiles. In addition to their caring demeanor, they are always knowledgeable and professional. After trying several places in town, we are so happy to have found them.

Called in at noon for an urgent appointment for a GI issue with my rabbit. Was seen at 2 pm. They're very good with rabbits, and every time we've gone our rabbits have seemed to love the people there. Usually our female rabbit isnt calm when held by anyone but me, but they've never once had an issue with holding her in a way that makes her feel secure.

My family has been coming to Animal Hospital of Lynchburg since I was a baby. I know the Krasons very well and went to school with their daughter. They've always been good to us and our pets. I recommend them to everyone I know whenever it comes up.
