Never Go Here! Really! Used this place in the past for our Parrots Wings and Nails. Called and got an appointment for the Wings, Nails and a severe case of 'Feather Plucking'. When we arrived the receptionist said that they don't work with PARROTS! Dr came out and stated maybe just one more time, because she was allergic? Waited over an hour, receptionist would not give out the password for the internet! Dr rushed thru the procedure, never addressed the 'plucking problem' and said; I'll only charge for the nails.

The receptionist had already made up an invoice, demanded we pay that bill because she didn't know how to deal with refunds, could we come back later? WTF? The Dr had to take $30 out of her purse! Extremely Unprofessional & RUDE! Never Again, Never! I can only hope I don't get the Owner writing his usual crap after a bad review: Sorry we fell short of your expectation, we strive to provide exceptional care Blah-Blah-Blah - B.S. Never!

Was able to get ahold of their clinic via the email provided in the Yelp response. I hope they will be able to fix their phone line/staffing issues eventually though it is difficult with Covid.

The care is okay, but the prices are extremely high. Also, scheduling anything isn't easy. I left one vet for here, and over the course of one year, I've now left this vet for another. Again, the care is good, but the prices were about three times higher (and more) than anywhere else.

Update: someone from the vet did respond to this review, so I'd like to clarify. We were ware BPH does not offer emergency services. We just wanted to talk to someone to see if it was normal for her to be throwing up as much as she was. We ended up calling another vet (Adobe) who not only answered their phone, but put us in touch with a vet tech within minutes.

She then advised us to go to the emergency vet. We wanted to make a follow up with our own vet (per the advice of the emergency vet), but they took more than three days to call back. When we were finally able to get an appointment, the vet tech was maskless during the Omicron surge, so we left. -- My family has been going to Belmont Pet Hospital since the 90s, but we will no longer be taking our cats here.

I am so disappointed and sad that it has come to this. We love Dr. Ackermann, but cannot seem to get in touch with anyone at the hospital, so we will have to find a new vet. My kitten had an emergency and was throwing up a lot. We tried to get in touch with the vet, but no one answered the phone. We ended up having to take her to the emergency vet.

We left three voicemails, and it took more than three days for them to return our call. By that time, it was sort of pointless. They were casual and unconcerned, and borderline rude. Regardless, we wanted her to be seen by Dr. Ackermann for a follow-up, so we scheduled an appointment. They told me the appointment was for 9:00 AM and the confirmation said this as well. However, when we arrived, they told us our appointment was at 8:00 AM.

I looked at the confirmation email and it said 9:00 AM. The vet tech came out to get the cat and was maskless. This was during Omicron and the mask mandate was in place. I did not allow her near us and canceled the appointment. Everything was fine until Debbie retired. We are so happy for Debbie, but whoever has taken her place needs to be replaced as well. This is not sustainable, and you are losing patients. There is no way to get in touch with anyone and the voice mail is constantly full. Do better!

My dog Millie has been going here for the past 8 years and I was always very happy with the care she received. While all businesses have been hit hard due to Covid something has definitely gone wrong here. In the past few months I was charged for services not received, they incorrectly recorded a vaccine that wasn't given, then at another appointment was told a vaccine was given when it wasn't.

If I was not diligent at checking the paperwork I would have unknowingly had an unvaccinated dog. What made each instance worse is not receiving calls back right away with each mistake. While their machine does say they check their messages and if it's not urgent it could take 2 days to return your call, having to bring your dog back because of their mistake should take priority.

They were of course apologetic after I raised concerns, but I was again dissatisfied when I was supposed to receive a call back about blood work and a week went by with no calls or response from them. Once again they apologized citing the strain of low staff and Covid which I do understand, however that's no excuse for continuing mistakes. I then had Millie's teeth cleaned with them for the first time as her prior location closed.

I asked many questions about the anesthesia having concerns about her care when she came home. Not only was I not prepared for what could happen and how much care she might need they pulled 12 teeth without consulting me. While I did receive a call that after X-rays it looked like they needed to pull 5 teeth earlier that day, that doesn't mean you then assume 12 is ok.

This is a dog who has always had teeth cleanings and was always told her teeth looked great at her yearly checkups. I never would have agreed to do that to Millie all at once. She was in serious pain, bleeding, sick, and needed 2 medications. Aside from the stress on her and me, they charge per extraction, almost $1000 added to the cost. I was beyond upset when the tech brought her out to me who agreed all that we had experienced was not ok and that someone would be calling me.

I received no call the next day Friday and yes they were open half day. Now Monday and still no call. If they cared someone would have called me back. I am disgusted and appalled at their behavior and have already moved Millie to another vet. I still have to do one more follow up with them because of all the sutures and again waiting for a return call to make the appointment. Then we are DONE! I wish no stars was an option here.

Please save yourself the stress and worry and stay far away from this veterinarian practice. I had been bringing my dog here for the last 7 years and something has gone wrong in the last 6 months. It's impossible to reach anyone by phone, appointments are booked with incorrect assigned vets, and their staff is beyond rude and unequipped to manage basic day to day tasks. It's very disappointing that my pups medical care has been spared and pushed away by terrible, insensitive and rude customer service from the front office team.

To the owner- bring back the basics to your staff and really hope this place can turn things around. I used to trust that my dog would be getting the best service with the most caring and loving staff. Somewhere this was lost ever since some staff retired or left. My family has been loyal to this practice with multiple pets for over 20 years and I feel there's is no other choice but to exit and start new elsewhere. Owners beware of bad service and silence from Belmont Vet!

How ridiculous this business owner would write back there no charge filed, they didn't do anything and just ask me to find another vets, I strongly feel this vets is NOT honest and charge is definitely RIP OFF, I just want people to be aware of that, there a lot hidden charges like examine fee, flee samples which my puppy doesn't need at all, when I delclined, they will get angry and ask you to just go away, and leave your poor puppy no vaccinations at all!

My two dogs see Dr. Machado and receive nothing but excellent care each time. I always feel the ability to be heard while he explains to us what we need to do to keep our dogs healthy as they have entered their senior years.

Very disappointing experience. From mid November till now this clinic can't provide lab results for our cat while we call them daily to check on the testing results. Every day they say that they have the results and that the Doctor will call us back, multiple days in a row they promise but they don't follow the promise. The vet service is getting worth and worth in this clinic. Time to search for the new clinic.

This is a pet care center, not a hospital. They clip nails and give vaccines/shots, trim hair and discuss general health approaches through good diet and exercise, and they help get tags and registration. NOT for broken bones, ingested plastic or chocolate, sudden issues of any kind, NO day-of appointments. Appointments are 1-2 months out. Good pet general care center, might have been a hospital previously and kept the name. Great people skills here, with super friendly, pet-loving people. I highly recommend them for nail clipping and shots.

We've only had our cat for 4 months, but Dr. Machado has been SUCH a great support. He was a street cat, so he's got some scar tissue that causes problems, and Dr. Machado is always great about assuaging our fears. Even more, he's EXTREMELY responsive to email even on off-hours, which for a new pet owner is a lifesaver.

I've taken my cat to the Belmont Pet Hospital for a few years now. They're really close to my house, within easy walking distance, even, so that's nice. I've never had a problem making an appointment, and the folks working the front desk are generally pretty friendly. There's usually a bit of a wait, but not too much, and it's understandable given that animals don't always cooperate with our timetables.

The first visit there was a bit of a miscommunication on my cat's name, which was pretty funny but which we got cleared up quick. The vet and vet techs I've interacted with have all been friendly and certainly seem to know their stuff. Pre-COVID when I was going in with my cat they definitely knew what they were doing handling cats, and were firm but not rough about it.

Since COVID they've instituted a system where you pull up, call them, then someone comes out and takes your pet inside while you wait outside. Then they come back with your pet, give you the rundown, and take your payment. It's a pretty smooth system. And in my experience they've been great with follow-ups. I usually get at least one or two phone calls later with test results, doctor's recommendations, etc. All told, great folks, a nice local facility, and I definitely feel comfortable trusting them with my cat.

I am 3 year patient here. It's usually good. Doctors are nice and knowlegable so far. But today's experience was far from Ok. I called the hospital as soon as I arrived 10 mins prior to appointment. I was waiting with my dog outside for 30 minutes for doctor - nobody. I called one more time and was finally asked about dog name. I was told my appointment is one hour later and I need either wait or arrive in time.

I asked why nobody told me 30 mins ago and was told that I did not call and I was talking with some other place. After I insisted I did talk to the very same person I was told I was mixed up with some other patient. Great! Finally after 45 mins wait doctor was out and we were done in 15 mins. Doctor and doctor's assistant were very nice and knowlegable. I received all answers and explanation.

My elderly father took his pet cat to this vet for a rabies shot. This vet charged +$100 for a shot that costs $15 at SPCA, and when my 77 year old dad started to ask questions about how long the shot lasts, the vet and his assistant yelled at him and told him they don't have to answer questions, that they were overworked and hadn't had any lunch, and don't feel that they need to provide answers to his questions.

This was, of course, after he paid, and after we were made to wait 35 minutes past our appointment time to have the cat seen. I was in the car, and got out because I was concerned about how aggressive the vet and his assistant were being towards my dad. I have owned many pets, dogs, chicken, cat, fish, and horses, all my life, and have never experienced such rude behavior from a vet, ever. Completely unprofessional. Stay far away from this one.

Our 5 year old cat has been dealing with a nail bed infection for over three weeks now. We took him to another vet where a clip and clean, round of antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine, and 3 hour stay at the hospital totaled over $500.00. Despite following instructions, our cat's infection was not improving. We made an appointment with Belmont Pet Hospital and was able to be seen within days. Dr. Ackerman was refreshingly kind and professional - she took her time with our kitty and also took into consideration our financial restraints.

I felt no focus on monetary advancement, but true care for our cat and us as owners. We made care plan A and plan B, ensuring we felt comfortable with each step and answered all questions thoroughly. And, she even offered to assist us via email (without having to pay for an additional visit). Needless to say, we highly recommend using Belmont Pet Hospital for your animal care.

This is my first time as a dog owner so I don't fully know what to expect when taking my dog to the vet. I just want to take care of my pet as best as I could by making sure he is healthy. I understand due to COVID-19, the vet is taking extra pre-cautions and restricting contact with clients, while trying to see as many pets as possible. I asked as many questions as I could over the phone which the receptionist kindly helped to answer to the best of her ability and I'm very appreciative.

I wanted to submit my dog's health files ahead of time to know know what type of exams and vaccinations to expect during his visit, however, I was told to just bring those files in the day of. That didn't give the vet or myself a chance or any time to understand what was going to be expected and I only found out through the receipt and charges after the visit.

I wish it was communicated to me ahead of time so I can see what is covered through my dog's pet insurance plan and what isn't. I most likely would have gone through with the vet recommendations, but I would rather have those communicated to me so I am not surprised or shocked from the list of unexpected charges. Other than that, my puppy seemed perfectly fine after the visit and I'm happy Belmont Pet Hospital was able to take new clients.

I tried contacting several vets that were closer to me, but they were not allowing new clients or even accepting waitlists for months. So thank you Belmont Pet Hospital for accepting and examining my new puppy!

Always a great place to get your pets taken care of, Belmont Pet Hospital has risen to the challenge of care during Covid-19. They took out cats from us out front and in no time we had them back. They gave them all the shots they needed and gave us a report of the visit. A chance to ask questions would have been nice but otherwise was super satisfied with our appointment. Thanks!

Excellent care during unusual times. A vet tech comes to your car to have you fill out paperwork, then the Dr. comes out to talk about what's happening with your pet. He/she will take your pet inside for examination and then will come back out to talk to you again. I can't speak highly enough about Dr. Machado and his kindness, patience and professionalism.

My little pup had a foot injury and was hobbling around. I had used BPH a few times before for normal puppy appoinments but my dog had never needed to be seen for an injury or illness. Dr. Machado was able to see him the same day. After checking him out he prescribed some pain management medication and ointment and patched him up. Within 3 days Hank was running around and back to his old self. I am very happy with the service and care. Thank you to the entire staff and I definitely recommend this clinic.

Took my dwarf hamster in for the first time for a check-up; it was a very easy process with the COVID precautions. Called in before my appointment and filled out paperwork from my car. They brought my hammie in with her carrier and the vet (I believe it was Dr. Ackerman) then talked to me on the phone after the check-up was done, and explained how to administer antibiotics since we thought she might have a respiratory infection.

She was very kind and answered all my questions. The one thing was that I wasn't told how much I would be charged until I got my card back. It came out to be around what I expected with the meds so it wasn't a big deal, but it would have been nice to know how much it would be upfront. Overall still a great experience!

I have a new-to-me dog (3yo Bernedoodle female spayed), and I needed a new vet. The last one I used sold his practice and the new vet did not leave me with a warm fuzzy. Thought I would give this place a try. Dr. Machado was exactly what I was looking for - personable, knowledgeable, sensitive, caring, reasonably priced, and nice to work with. Daisy-the-Dog seems to agree.

She had a procedure done under anesthesia, and she came back happy and relaxed. Our pets seem to be more important to us than ever during shelter-in-place -- they're making our lives work! -- and it's more nerve-racking than ever when they get sick. I'm so glad our pup was in good hands. Highly recommend.

We brought our dog in for care not too long ago because he was not eating much. They immediately gave him fluids which he didn't need. They didn't have answers for the eating problem. Our dog was then lethargic and in pain throughout the entire day which he was not before entering the vet. Bad first experience. Today, our dog started breathing funny, and I called the emergency number to see if we could bring him in immediately because it sounded like an allergic reaction or choking.

The receptionist said they're really busy so we should try to find another vet. When I asked for recommendations of vets close by, she rudely said no and told me to look myself. I understand these are crazy times, but I want a vet (and their staff) to care for animals more than getting business. Simply naming a few other vets to help us get our dog care would have been the right thing to do.

Such terrible communication. Tried to push all sorts of additional treatments on our cat without being able to explain a reason. Then tried to pad the bill with all sort of extraneous charges without asking if we wanted them. Very disappointing.

Dr. Ava Ackerman is my personal hero. She saved the life of our baby bunny. Her experience and knowledge about bunny health issues is of tremendous value especially as bunnies are very fragile creatures and can deteriorate quickly. Not a lot of vets have experience with bunnies and even fewer see bunnies in our area. The urgency and empathy with which she and the team at Belmont Pet Hospital have taken care of our pet bunny is really commendable.

I can not recommend them enough. After going through many hospitals and vets we finally have a place we feel we can completely trust with our bunny's health. Thank you Belmont Pet Hospital

I've been going there for 20 years. Dr Akerman is WONDERFUL and most compassionate vet I'veever had. The whole staff is great. But Deb is my favorite person. She greets u with a smile even though she has phones ringing off the hook and people lined up in the waiting room. She's just the best!

I brought my two Guinea Pigs for an exam and the staff there was great. Dr Ackerman instilled confidence from the moment I met her, she handled my guinea pigs with ease. Vet assistants there are also great and good with apprehensive guinea pigs, you can tell these are people that love animals and what they do. Super glad I found this place and will rest easy knowing my Jay and Silent Bob are always in good hands.

I drive farther to go to Belmont then my local vet because they have someone who specializes in smaller pets there every day (as opposed to some places which only have dog and cat people most days.) The whole staff is great - from the receptionists to the vets. Highly recommended.

The best care! the folks here work tirelessly to make sure your pet is in top shape. they've worked with me and my dog to make going to the vet a less traumatic experience. the doctors and techs do a really great job of explaining what is going on and any options you have. really love this vet!
