The Canine Classroom was established in 1993 and has since become the most sought-after dog training school in Portland, Oregon. Steve Fuller is the owner and trainer, and he uses a comprehensive approach to training your dog. Steve began his dog-training career in 1978 when he was living in the San Francisco Bay Area of California.
The Canine Classroom offers a free evaluation of your dog. This gives us a first-hand look at your training needs. We will evaluate what we need to do, how much work will be necessary, and what approach should be taken for training. It also gives us the opportunity to meet and explain in greater detail what will be involved.
Over half the dogs we see need help with unwanted behaviors. Aggression towards people and other dogs are two of the issues many dog owners face. Other common problems include: destruction of personal items and property, unable to housebreak, separation anxiety, reactivity issues, and so on. These problems are symptoms of dogs who are out of balance at home and with their families. The owners of these dogs may be unknowingly contributing to some of this behavior. At the Canine Classroom, these problems are addressed daily.
At the Canine Classroom we teach you and your dog together. We have found that individual instruction has no equal and provides far superior results for dog owners. We take the time to tailor classes to suit your needs. During training, we assist you in eliminating unwanted animal behavior such as jumping up, barking, chewing, etc.

They were not transparent about the methods they use, they just insist "they can solve the problem", it wasn't until after we paid that we realized their entire training was prong collar based. We also specifically requested to train with other dogs and work towards socializing our dog, which they said they could do. After we paid, they said it was an insurance issue and they could not socialize her properly.

They also made us sign a contract to make sure we couldn't get any money back or sue them after we had already paid. Regardless of the number of classes we had taken with them. Of course, they didn't mention any of this before charging us. Overall I was very unimpressed with their methods and unhappy about their lack of transparency. Although in the short term my dog did show mild improvements it quickly deteriorated, made my dog more aggressive, and hurt our relationship.

They claim that their higher prices are because we have a "trainer for life", but after the set amount of classes they intended to give us (many of which address issues we didn't have)they didn't book us for another meeting and just said to let them know if a new problem showered up, and that they couldn't do anything else for us. What is the point of having a trainer for life if they can't help us address our current issues? Although i paid over one grand for their services and all future apts are be free, i will NEVER go back.

In February, my husband and I rescued a 9 week old german shepherd border collie mix. While we've had experience with border collies and labs, we quickly realized we were not prepared for all that this sweet little girl brought with her. Working with Steve & Wes was what we needed to survive. They were extremely supportive and gave us the tools we needed to help Koko realize and reach her potential. Now, at 6 months, she's developing into a sweet, attentive, and respectful member of our family. We couldn't have done it without them. Thanks Wes & Steve!

We have an 8lb terrier who had the worst "little " dog syndrome ever. Very aggressive, barked at every thing when going for a Walk, when someone knocked on the door he went crazy. With Canine Class Rooms / Steve's help training our little champ has made such a huge improvement. Hard work, patience, love Canine Class Rooms training our family can now go on walks distraction free and be in a much calmer house hold, I would HIGHLY recommend Canine Class Room Training.

If you need professional dog help, search no further! Steve has helped train ME with the skills and knowledge needed to turn a very wild but sweet female Frenchton (little Greta) into a fantastic well majored dog. Learning these skills were priceless, and can be applied to all my future dogs. Steve communicates effectively, and was thorough to ensure I understood all instructions. Please give Steve at Canine Classroom a try!

We adopted 11 year old Sophie from a shelter, a year ago. During walks, she wanted to jump and attack other dogs, did not stay nor come when asked and chose places to lay in the house where it was most inconvenient for the family. We noticed the sign: "Canine Class Room" while driving and talked with Steve and Wesley. They assured us that "OLD DOGS CAN LEARN" and we signed Sophie up for training. Sophie loved her new teachings, wagging her tail and learning quickly while in class.

Besides Sophie needing new positive skills, us as a family had to learn as well how to address her behaviors and how to correct them. After the first few visits, Sophie started to change to the better and the neighboring dogs began to like her. We as a family practiced all we learned from Steve and Wesley for three months now and Sophie is able to run at the beach without a leash, walk passed another dog without trouble, lay in designated areas of our choice, stay or come when necessary, and became our perfect dog we so much wished for.

We are also confident to have a dog sitter handle Sophie when we fly out of town. Steve and Wesley offer refresher training and advice when ever we need it in the future as well, which we are thankful for. Thank you both, for making our family whole and happy!

We have been working with Steve and Wes for a few months and have seen a huge improvement in our dog's behavior. We covered everything from leash training to recall, and they helped to identify strategies that solve the root cause, not just the symptom. We highly recommend the Canine Classroom for any range of behavioral training needs.

Steve and Wesley are spectacular dog trainers. We brought them our 5 month old bulldog mix and they helped us understand and train the dog into a respectable member of society. Their office in Beaverton is a fantastic environment for training your dog and the care and devotion they put into every pet makes them the perfect trainer for any breed.

My partner and I were having a difficult time with our standard poodle on walks and other things. Appa was pulling us on walks, not listening or choosing when to listen and generally pushing our boundaries to frustration. We decided to go with Canine Class Room after some research and were happy with their training. Steve and his son Wesley were very professional with us and Appa, and the end result of their guidance and training had us enjoying walks with Appa and left us with confidence of being in control of our dog.

To note, Steve and Wesley taught us how to handle and train the dog versus just training Appa to do a few tricks. So now that we have graduated, we feel confident that we can teach Appa new things because we learned valuable skills on how to train the dog ourselves. They had also educated us about the dog psychology and helped us to clear out a few common misconceptions that we had. Months later after Appa's training has been complete we still use their guidance to great success.

We see a night and day difference in the behavior on walks from other dogs compared to Appa due to the training. I highly recommend this course in training, it was worth every penny.

When deciding to welcome a Labrador retriever puppy into our home after not having a dog for 15 years, we knew we'd need help! We found the Canine Class Room upon the recommendation of a neighbor. We have found Steve and Wes to have a wealth of knowledge regarding dog behaviors. Our training sessions have given us the tools and confidence we need to work towards our goal of raising a well behaved dog.

It seems like every session we learn more ways to communicate better with our young dog. The Class Room is a comfortable, quiet setting for private training sessions. The staff is professional, readily available and flexible if a change in scheduling was necessary. My husband and I highly recommend Canine Class Room Dog Training.
