While you're away on business or pleasure, send your kitty on a pampered vacation to the Cat Nap Inn, nestled in the woods near the shores of Lake Minnetonka. Many of our guests like it so well here, they stay for months! If you're moving or need to be away from home for weeks or even months, we offer long-term boarding. Best of all, your kitty will get plenty of attention and tender loving care, just like at home.
Services
We feed your cat his or her own food, because diet changes can have ill effects on sensitive kitties. So please bring your own food. Accomodations are cheerfully made for special dietary needs and other health concerns.
Cat Nap Inn cat boarding is located at 26270 Smithtown Road, near Excelsior, Minnesota. From 494, go West on Highway 7 to Eureka Road (8 miles West of 494 and 1 mile West of 41). Turn right on Eureka Road. Proceed North to the T, then turn left (West) on Smithtown Road. Go one-half mile to 26270 Smithtown Road. On the right, you'll see a cat on the mailbox; a white cape cod home, and a white cottage (the inn).
Bring your cat's own food. Bring proof of up-to-date rabies and distemper vaccinations, and feline leukemia negative test results. Outdoor cats are required to have proof of feline leukemia vaccination. You may bring your cat's own bed, as long as it is washable. We schedule time to care for our guests, keep the inn sparkling clean, and provide lots of love and attention.

My Sora was there for a week and came home happy as a clam! His area was spacious and clean, he was also given toys and wheatgrass! I would definitely recommend! As someone from SETX where boarding your animal means they're put in a silver box cage until you come back, I was given such peace of mind leaving my cat here.

The Cat Nap Inn is amazing! I have left my 3 very precious adult cats at CNI twice now and I can see that they are each treated with care, respect and love. The rooms have lots of shelving that goes way up to the ceiling, each room is meticulously clean, temperature is pleasant, and a large window for cats to see what's happening either in the halls or outside. Great place!

Once again we are so happy to know that our cats can have a safe, fun, cozy get away experience away from home. We are always impressed by the professionalism displayed and the warm, welcoming an friendly customer service. Its always a delight to know your travels are more relaxed and enjoyable knowing your love ones are safe. We will definitely be making reservations again soon. Staff/Management, do keep up the wonderful job in keeping our 'purr-ry' ones happy. Thank you.

I never thought of dropping my cat off at a boarding facility since he's a grumpy old man who loves to be outdoor, but in his old age, he can't be alone for more than a night at a time, so I figured I'd bite the bullet and pay to put him up. The staff was very friendly and all seemed like they loved cats. They were very professional and responsive via email. After 4 nights with them, my cat, Pumpkin, came home in a great mood. I do plan to be back!

Super clean, transparent and accommodating. I had to fly to the south east for a funeral last minute and made an appointment for my cat for 3 days. It gave me peace of mind among the chaos of losing a family member. The prices we're very reasonable and plenty of options for spoiling your cat if you are so inclined (included though are 2 daily petting sessions and catnip, treats, pumpkin, etc.).

They showed me the room my cat would staying in and paperwork was fast and easy. Make sure you have your animal's records up to date and accessible. If you have any concerns you can always call them and they can address them; but quite honestly I didn't have anything to worry about concerning the safety/heath of my cat after visiting the website and that was reinforced after visiting the facility when I checked in my cat. If I ever need these services again it's definitely where I plan to go.

I've used this facility twice to board my two cats. It's very clean and the staff is very caring and friendly. The rooms are adorable and they take extra precautions to insure your beloved pet is not exposed to any other cats that may become sick during their stay. I've always been confident my girls would be well-cared for and I love the extra packages offered to give your pet a little extra care or spoiling during their stay. I highly recommend this facility for boarding your precious cats. ~Dessa Blackthorn~

My cat loved it here! I brought him for a 3 week stay during winter break. The cats get their own house, where they can roam and have supervised play time with other cats. Nancy is very knowledgeable and you can tell that she deeply cares about every cat that she boards. While I was gone, she sent me pictures and videos of my kitty playing with other cats, which really helped me feel more comfortable about being away from him.

When I picked him up, he was well fed and brushed, and looked very happy at the Inn playing with the other cats. Nancy is more affordable, attentive and caring than any other place you could find to leave your cat! I will definitely be bringing my cat back to her in the future.

Our kitties have been staying at Cat Nap Inn for many years while we go away on vacation. They are treated very well & spoiled, too. The only negative item is not always being able to reserve the really big suite for them! However if I made the call early enough, I might find the suite available more often! Cat Nap staff are very good at working w/our time schedule for dropping the kitties off & retrieving then when we return.

We are also able to email back & forth to be sure they are settling in properly (worry wart kitty mama here!). Thank you, Cat Nap, for being an excellent place to leave my kitty babies.

Cat Nap Inn made boarding our two elder cats SO MUCH LESS STRESSFUL! They admitted our diabetic and hyperthyroid cats with ease and did an amazing job. We have to single out Brenna, who is a champion and one of the most amazing people in veterinary care. We could not have enjoyed our visit back east without their help. Thank you so much, Brenna and the rest of the folks at Cat Nap Inn! Five star service and we will recommend them to everyone.

I have brought my cat Yeti here for several stays while I traveled. He is always happy and healthy when I return. He is a big Maine Coon and kind of high maintenance with special food and a daily pill. Nancy does a great job and is very knowledgeable. The other cats were calm and well-behaved and Yeti made several new cat friends He also enjoyed sunbathing on the high window shelves!

My first and last encounter with the cat nap inn is one I will try my best to forget. I know my cat will too. I recently went on vacation and decided to bring my cat here to stay with Nancy. Right away there were many sirens going off in my little head as she scolded me for not feeding my cat wet food 100% of the time. I trusted her anyway and brought my cat in for a 9 day stay.

The second I pulled in after my trip Nancy was out the door with my cats things and having me grab her from inside. She said that boarding was not suitable for my cat and that I shouldn't bring her back. She went on to explain that my cat kept scratching her, which was shocking especially since my cat has no claws at all to scratch with. She also said that my cat had too much energy to be let out of the tiny cages they keep the cats in.

Maybe it was cause she was forcing her to stay in there? And lastly we sent her with more than enough food and instructions on how much to give her. She over fed the cat and ran out before I had returned to pick her up. I'm upset with the way my cat was treated and I'm sure my cat is too. Rest assured she is home and receiving lots of exercise and snuggles.

Our young cat has enjoyed several stays at the Inn. She comes home clean and relaxed. We can only say good things about the boarding facility. It was designed and built specifically for cats. The staff is attentive to the animals and we rest assured our cat is in good hands when we are not able to take her with us.

Don't look any further. This is the place to board your cat. Kolleen and her staff are the best. The facility is clean and inviting. I have boarded my cat here several times over several years. My cat is well taken care of. My cat likes the Sweet Dreams package for her achy joints and absolutely loves the Pamper Me package! I never worry about my cat while she is at Cat Nap Inn because I know she is getting excellent care.

Nancy is a gift to my family and she has put all our minds at peace. My husband and I are now traveling quite frequently and needed a cat sitter. Nancy is patient, kind, understanding, a great listener and caring. She takes care of each boarded cat like they were her own. The facilities are clean, organized and are so much fun for the cats! The price is reasonable and the care is outstanding! We will be boarding our cat every month with Nancy!

I am totally baffled by the two previous reviews. We have been taking our cat to the Cat Nap Inn for 5 winters (he stays 2-3 months at a time) and we have nothing but good experiences and comments to share! The owner is hands-on.she devotes her entire time to being on-site and is extremely knowledgeable in cat behavior and needs. Before we left our cat the first time, we visited her establishment.the cats have free roam and we were surprised at how well they got along, and how quiet and clean it was (no litter box smells)!

They have ample bird and squirrel watching from the many windows and lots and lots of climbing and perching options. Our cat has many cat-friends there and sometimes doesn't want to come home with us! The owner has a personal interest and love for each cat she takes care of, and works closely with a local vet in case of any health issues that needed to be addressed. We highly recommend the Cat Nap or we wouldn't leave our much-loved cat there!

I filed an official complaint with the BBB requesting a refund for the terrible service provided, and she flat out refused to work with them or me to find a resolution. Don't leave your cats here, they are better off being boarded at your vet clinic! My cats are on a strict vet-prescribed diet, food and instruction were adequately provided; as well as my contact information.

She fed them a can of her own wet food without calling me first (also charged me for the can of cheap food), which caused one of my cats undue intestinal / digestive distress for several days and cost me approx. $200.00 in vet services and medications.

When I picked up my cat she was filthy, had diarrhea and was given an awful hair cut. The owner gave my cat too much wet food which caused the diarrhea. My cat has long fur that got dirty as a result of the diarrhea so the owner cut off her fur in random spots rather than washing her. My cat's hind feet and her back-end were caked with feces when I picked her up.

The owner also charged me $10 for the wet food and $30 for fluids since she said my cat wasn't eating or drinking enough during her 13 day stay. She also didn't tell me that my cat still had diarrhea so after I got home my cat proceeded to have diarrhea on my bed! I wrote to the owner and asked her when the diarrhea would stop and she did not reply.

I think the owner meant well but she did not do the best job that she could have. She was responsive to my first e-mail during my cats stay when I asked for an update. She also brushed my cat and removed the matted fur but she should have NEVER given her a bad haircut. I now have a mangy looking cat and will need to find a cat groomer to fix her appearance or wait 3 months for her fur to grow back.

Overall I was disappointed. I'm guessing the owner is overwhelmed by the amount of cats staying there which contributed to her negligent decision making when caring for my friendly cat.

I just picked up my cats from their second stay at Cat Nap Inn, and I love this place (so do they, even the spaz). The lady who runs it has an adorable little house built next to her real house, with cottage-like flowers and many bird feeders about to entertain the kitties through the windows. There is a front office and back room that the cats can hang out in, with countless edges, beds, cat trees, and some furniture for lounging.

She has a separate side room where I think supplies are kept. In the back room the whole back wall is kitty apartments which are very clean and spacious. They aren't just cages, they are actually really nice multi level apartments with hidey holes that can be connected if the space is available, so my cats actually had two apartments connected.

The owner is obviously somebody with a passion for kitties and she knew all the cats names that were there and gave them all lots of love, so rest assured your cat will be taken care of. From what I remember from the first longer stay there, Wednesdays are cat nip parties lol. My spaz cat who is the oldest and biggest scaredy cat wimp was there the first time for about a week, and I thought he'd be so excited to see me and go home when I picked him up.nope. He saw me, froze, and dove under the bed because he DIDN'T want to go home. Jerk.
