The owner, Tony, hung up on me. For a wedding gift, I was given a gift cert. for 6 wk obedience training, and 2 grooming appointments for my dog. I didn't have time to use it immediately, due to moving, unpacking, settling in, getting my former house prepared to rent, and finding tenants. The gift cert. had a 6 mo expiration. I was only allowed to use one of the grooming appointments because the certificate had expired by the time my dog needed another hair cut.

The rigidness of the owner concerning the expiration date was such a turn off that I decided to never do business with them again... Until I got my new puppy. I thought I would give the owner another opportunity to gain my business. I told him that I would pay full price for my puppy's training, become a paying member of their dog park, and eventually also purchase training for my puppy in agility, if he would honor the 1 yr expired gift cert for obedience training for my other dog.

I explained why I couldn't use it within 6 mos. However, he refused, offering only 50% for what he had already received 100% payment. Tony Cloud hung up on me, when I mentioned to him that his customer service was so bad, that he wasn't taking the opportunity to win my long-term business because he wouldn't honor a gift certificate in which he already had the money in his pocket.
Business response
UPDATE: After receiving my letter requesting that Cloud's Canine either refund the monetary value or provide the services owed on the gift certificate, along with a copy of the Washington State Law that protects consumers by prohibiting expiration dates on purchased gift certificates, Tony Cloud responded by refunding the monetary value remaining on the gift certificate. This issue has been resolved satisfactorily.
