We're a young organization, but we're making a difference in our community. We're animal lovers trying to change lives, one at a time. Coastal Pet Rescue pets are in foster homes or our small capacity shelter, Camp Pawsawhile Retreat. Appointments to see pets may be made once an adoption application has been completed and reviewed. Coastal Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless, abused and neglected dogs and cats in Savannah and surrounding areas.
Services
Bringing a new pet home should be a positive experience for your family. That's why our Adoption Ambassadors at Coastal Pet Rescue work hard to ensure that the pet you want is compatible for your family and lifestyle. Browse through our 68 available pet listings and let us help you make your match!
You've long been told tis better to give than to receive, and you'll find no greater reward than from helping a homeless pet. Coastal Pet Rescue strives to provide multiple opportunities for individuals, families and groups to give their time and skills in the service of homeless pets. Take a read through our opportunities below then contact us to get started!
Coastal Pet Rescue receives funding for its rescue efforts through fundraising events, individual donations, and business sponsorships. Adoption fees are nominal and go towards the cost of the spay/neuter for each adopted pet. All monies invested in the pet, such as boarding, feeding, grooming, and veterinary care, are never fully recovered.
Make your adoption meet and greet a night to remember with our Twinkle Bark (and Purr) Stroll Adoption Events! Enjoy a walk through our festival of trees and holiday lights with your family and friends. Hot cocoa and marshmallow roasting also available. You do not need to be looking to adopt to join us. Sign up for our weekly e-newsletter to get the latest information about upcoming events, needs and successes.

The people who work there give their time tirelessly to help animals. The animals who are rescued are loving but some need time and patience. If you have love to give and care for animals, then check them out.

First time I called it was after 6pm, no answer, office was closed and I had to leave a message. The next morning, I called and left another message.after attemping my third call finally got through, spoke to a person that was suppose to call back at noon, but, there was no called back. Finally about 4pm someone called and was very helpful. By this time Oakland Island Animal Rescue had but me in contact with someone to come retrieve the bird, by the time he arrive, the bird had died.

3 stars bc I'm all about adopting animals HOWEVER my husband and I tried to adopt a senior chihuahua- after 2 meetings AND a home visit, the "foster" mom who thought she was the only person to ever care for an animal declined our adoption over our current 10 year old chihuahua not having a vaccine( a boarding vaccine , she's never been without us, we even fly with this dog?) The same dog who we had taken to the vet three times the past two months for check ups, blood work, and a teeth cleaning. THEN that same adoptable elderly chihuahua was "let go" to another shelter bc the foster mom said she didn't have the funds to care for him.

It is extremely frustrating and sad that a dog could have had a safe home but instead was given to another shelter over something stupid. My husband and I have taken care of multiple elderly dogs and kept up with all vet visits. Not to mention this same woman called our vet asking for information on our personal pet without our permission and then was upset when the clerk wouldn't release info. Very annoying and upsetting process that resulted in a precious dog not getting a home.

My wife and I received our first rescue dog from this Dog Rescue. We are incredibly impressed with the staff, including the people who find the dogs in trouble and those who foster them in preparation for their forever homes. We still keep in touch with them and we HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM! Below are photos of our dog, Lennie, and one is of her in the snow for the first time in Virginia!

Such wonderful people that actually care about the dogs they rescue. We adopted Louie after seeing him online and in person at an event. He is such a great addition to our little family. I highly urge everyone to adopt not shop. The ladies at the rescue were amazing and you could tell they cared about our little guy.

Great adoption! The fee was acting paid for Me! I'm thrilled that Melissa & Her sweet mother helped me over and above the call of duty! They were just wonderful! Jackie is a muted calico! So unique and beautiful! funny and my baby! Dont know where I'd be with out her! She got a cat tree yesterday! I fell apart weeping today and she got so upset! I found the ashes of my first rescue from a litter in Bullstreet in 1993! My mothers writing just made my heart break! Willie died in May, 30 of 09. My aunt, mommas sister was visiting at the time! They still live in Hawaii! We barely speak.
