Staff is very friendly and helpful. Our dog passed and we brought her there to cremated. The young ladies that came outside were very respectful of the sad situation. Our family has been coming to colony since the 70's and have had many good experiences over the years. I will say it's time to let people in the building.

I can't think of one thing that you could've done to make my experience of picking up my dog better. Thank you Colony animal Hospital!

These people have a way with dogs. My dog Pookie just loves going there. I'm always surprised at how calmly she reacts to them.

Having recently moved into the area, I was looking for a new vet that wasn't an hour away. Colony has been wonderful with my two dogs (one large and one small breed) and very reasonable in price. Unfortunately they have discontinued their boarding service due to staffing issues (I travel several times a year for work), otherwise I would definitely give them 5-stars!

This is a corporate entity. Dr. Piske sold it. My family has been coming here since 1965 and I'll miss Dr Piske (and Dr Howard before him). These guys were part of a Denbigh that's fading into history. Just like me. such is life.

Not impressed. Vet looks like she graduated high school yesterday. Threw out words to me, a responsible pet owner, that if I choose not to opt for her advice that my cat needs to get x-rays for possible tooth decay which could cost, "$500 to $1500," that I AM UNETHICAL. It was especially nice to be given a second hand answer by the vet via the clerk taking my money that my cat has herpes because she is a shelter cat.

My shelter kitty was relinquished to the the Humane Society for only 2 weeks over 8 years ago. This was supposed to be my cat's yearly, but it ended up being a consult for how to spend more money, no alternatives were even suggested. I didn't even get a clear answer about my cat's sneezing. Vet only focused on teeth, never gave me details on my 10 yr old's overall bill of health. It was obvious that this vet was done with me, and I am most definitely done with her. This first visit is definitely my last.

For as awful as our day had been colony really made the best of it. I couldn't be anymore grateful with the warmth and care of the staff and facility. Help make one of the hardest days a lot easier. Thank you!

We have gone to Colony for 20 years but will never go back. If you are just going for maintenance of shots.heart worm, etc, you will not notice the inexperience and incompetence of their vets. We had to euthanize our dog at an emergency vet due to the misdiagnosis and mistreatment from their vets. I'm not sure what happened to this once caring and competent practice.

We noticed a change about 1 year ago.from front desk staff and poor communication, to the current vets, who are clearly inexperienced and incompetent. Unfortunately we didn't realize until too late. Please take your pets elsewhere.

I am a brand new cat owner and took my two kittens in to be seen. This was my first time at this vet. The vet spent about 5-10 minutes with us total, told me they were going to give them rabies shots (which was not the reason for my appointment) and didn't really give me a say in the matter, did not give me any post-care instructions, and didn't really address my initial concern. As other reviews have said, they are also pricey.

They do and ok job, been here a few times! Just don't like there attitude! Very expensive aswell. Always trying to get u to come back to charge u for something else. I had to get a few bandages on my Pitbulls foot. They tried charging me 67$ 3 different times for a small bandage on her foot, then when I complained, they dropped the price back to 30$ I don't like being priced higher when Iv already payed less the time before. This is about my animals well beating. Not ur next pay check

Our family has used a few different veternarians over the years, but Colony Animal Hospital is the first one we have stayed with a long time or been very satisfied with. We started going there after moving to this area of Newport News 19 years ago, mainly because of the location. It isn't just the location that keeps us going back. The staff are always friendly and helpful, you are made to feel welcome, Dr. Piske is wonderful and takes time to explain and answer quesrions, and the new vet, Dr. Riggs, is just as good.

You expect a veterinarian to love animals and be really good with them, but that has not always been my experience --the entire staff at Colony are caring and compassionate. Also they have been accomodating with bill payments in the past, and the environment is very clean (always a plus for me)!

You would never guess the were 2 cats with me, but klondike enjoyed himself while Cocoa hid in the carrier (being super shy like she is) until they both got checked out and got their shots. But I the staff was great and Klondike just wanted to stay and check the place out all day. He really wanted the dogs there more than anything.

I love this place. I have two ferrets and one of them was having bad diarrhea so I took her in and everyone was super nice. I brought in a stool sample and they checked it for parasite and they found one and prescribed both my babies some liquid antibiotics that they loved to take which is good for ferret owners! The vet was very knowledgable, nice, and professional and handled my babies very well l and the nurse was awesome too.

The front desk ladies were nice and loved my ferrets. It's always nice to feel comfortable and reassured when you're worried about your fur babies health and this is the right place for that.

I received a call from Dr. Piske a few days later who apologized for the service that I received, or rather, the fact that I didn't receive the service that I expected to receive and a refund check in the mail for our puppy's visit. I was assured that he would take my issues into consideration to better his practice and I hope for everyone else that this is the case. While it doesn't change our decision changing to a new vet, it is nice to have my concerns taken into consideration for future clients.

I absolutely love this clinic. The receptionists were extremely attentive and helpful. It didn't take them long to get me into a room even though there was another pet and owner before me. When the tech put me in a room, she was very kind and asked alot of questions to ensure my pet was in good health. The questions she asked really made me think about my pet's habits and behaviour, which was very helpful.

The doctor was meticulously thorough and very patient with my rambunctious dog. He was so gentle while giving the vaccinations that my wimpy little boy didn't even cry out. Check out was so quick and easy; they even made sure I had everything I needed, such as heartworm and flea prevention for all my pets. I will definitely bring my pets here for a long time.

Colony Animal Hospital is one of very very few animal hospitals on the peninsula that will sedate a dog for grooming. I could not believe how hard it was to find a facility that provides this service. But recently I had to utilize another service for the first time - I had to have my 14 year old dog euthanized. They were very kind in greeting us, but then they took us to a nicely decorated room; almost like you would find in a funeral home.

There they had a sort of ottoman with a dog blanket on it, and that is where they performed the euthanasia. Not a sterile, cold, exam room where an the animal would be likely to be more stressed. They explained exactly what we could expect and talked us through each thing they did. The doctor was wearing professional attire for work, but he kneeled right down on the floor to perform the care.

They let us stay with our dog as long as we wanted. It was very peaceful and we could cry and pet the dog as long as we wanted. As we left they offered us condolences. In other words, they are concerned with the comfort of the dog first, then the family, then the staff, not the other way around. That is as good as it gets.

Excellent office. The staff was very nice and made our experience very pleasant. I originally found Colony when I was searching for dog boarding nearby. They offer it but their amenities are a bit lacking, hence the 4 stars. They do not yet have an outdoor run and must leash walk the boarded dogs. I decided to go for it anyway because the lady in charge of the kennels was outstanding!

I had no doubt my dog was in the best of care. I picked my dog up and she was as clean and happy as when I left her. Their prices were also very reasonable which was refreshing after dealing with other places that seemed high. Give them a try!

The staff and doctors are okay. I never felt comfortable with my puppy being taken to the back for 'treatments' and never felt like they were really compassionate about my pets and her needs. The doctor didn't really go over what they were doing and I felt like they were rushing my appointment. Overall, my experience was below average. I would not recommend this clinic.
