We focus on positive reinforcement dog training - our dog training gets results the fun way! We specialize in aggression, fear related problems, barking, and house training. We work with dogs of any age, from puppies to mature adult dogs.
For more than 20 years full time, Angelica Steinker, Owner of Courteous Canine, Inc., has specialized in dog training methods that create "Results the Fun Way."
Rather than using fear or intimidation to train the dog we focus on using positive reinforcement, games, and fun! We use Empowerment Training and clicker training methods. This calm, positive approach is as effective, if not more so, than punishing alternatives. This dog training method builds the trust that is so important in the life of a family pet.
Courteous Canine's Tampa dog training campus is located on the south side of County Line Road, just east of Livingston and west of Bruce B. Downs. We are north of Sunset. A large variety of group classes and topics for private instruction specializing in aggression, reactivity, and difficult-to-train dogs.

We currently have our 14 week old Australian Labradoodle in Beth's six week puppy kindergarten class. The facility is excellent and Beth is patient and caring. Harkin had already learned a lot. We will definitely continue our training at Courteous Canine.

Great experience! Puppy class with Beth was helpful. My Labrador will walk on the leash and knows all her commands. We still need to work on things every day at home to keep the skills fresh but the training was definitely worth the time and money. Beth, the trainer was really great!

My pup had the best day playing and training with the Courteous Canine team. They sent photos of her and I could tell she was having a blast. When she came home she was happy and tired, a marked improvement from other trial runs we've had with doggie day cares. If Courteous Canine was closer in proximity to our house this would have been our go-to doggie day care. We haven't found it's equal near us.

During my consultation with Courteous Canine I learned a lot about my dog, developed a new appreciation and respect for the challenges my dog faces, and felt hope for the first time in a long time. I look forward to continuing our training here. Update- we continued training here and my dog is far less reactive around other dogs. We are both more calm and confident and have bonded with each other. Angelica is such a strong advocate for Sugar and I can't say enough good things about learning from her.

I was looking for training for my older German Shepherd puppy. We did the private, in-home lessons. The process to get information about what options were best for us and our puppy was so easy and smooth. The staff was so great and communicative. We had our in-home lessons with Brooke and she is simply AMAZING! Not only did she give guidance on how to best train Brutus on the areas that were the most important to us, she taught me and my family how to best work with Brutus so we can be the most effective outside of the training sessions. It was 100% worth it.

Courteous Canines is the best thing I have EVER done for my dog, Bubbles. She's a rescue, and having been in a shelter for several months, she had quite a bit of anxiety about other daycares. But this isn't a daycare. It's doggy camp! We started in Courteous Canines agility class to build her confidence. We'd just moved across the country, she and I, and were both a bit stressed and disoriented.

The agility class was a kind of reorienting, and it was phenomenal. So was the swimming class. Once she was used to the beautiful outdoor campus, I left her for the day, for the first time. Of course I cried- but Bubbles did NOT. My girl smiles all the way to camp every day. I say, "are you ready to go see your best friends?" And she go nuts. She loves her pack.

I love that she has a pack. The staff loves her, and we both love the staff. I know that she has lifelong friends here, a sense of belonging, and a genuine feeling of home. I'm giving my girl her best possible life at Courteous Canines; I've never known an organization so skillful, personal, and life-enriching.

Courteous Canine dog training has been great for us. We have done classes up at their venue including puppy kindergarten and "reliable recall" - we have also done private training up there, as well as in home. The trainers are so good teaching positive reinforcement training techniques instead of shock collars and choke chains. They always follow up with emails and answer email questions as they come up. They LOVE dogs and want them and their people to be happy and safe. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for dog training.

Our time with Courteous Canine over the years always surpasses expectations. Every staff is trained at a level unmatched throughout Tampa Bay. We feel blessed to have found a place that we can trust whole-heartedly in their recommendations to vets, training, etc for our fur babies. Any time I have questioned a method, they have always been able to explain it with current evidentiary support and the dogs well-being in the forefront.

Even when one of our dogs was not able to attend day care until we were able to work through a certain behavior, we knew it was in the best interest of our dog and the others in the care of Courteous Canine. It's this level of consistency and "canines first" mentality that has made us such a strong advocate for this group.

My dog, millie, always has a blast at class! we did the puppy kindergarten, puppy play dates, and a private dock diving lesson, and all were lots of fun! while we would love to do dock diving again, she has taken an interest in agility equipment so we might have to sign up for an agility class too! i love that they offer so many wonderful classes so that there is always something new to try! and to top it all off, they are positive reinforcement based so no aversive tools are used which really helps build that bond/trust between you and your dog!

We brought our Australian Cattle Dog to Courteous Canine for puppy class and we loved it as much as he did. Gina is such a great and personable instructor. The owner is super nice as well. Prices are very affordable. Highly recommend!
