It says a lot that some of our team members have been with our pet grooming service for many years. Al and Jackie have been with us for almost three decades! Annette and Kathy are approaching two decades, and Kdee has worked with our team for sixteen years. No matter how long, it feels like they've been a part of THE DOG FROM IPANEMA family forever.

I had never been to The Dog From Ipanema until I took two little shelter dogs in for grooming. There was a fashion show on Miami Beach and two dogs from Born Free Pet Shelter in Homestead were being featured in the show in the hopes of getting them adopted. This groomer was giving the pups baths and brushings and cleaning them all up for the big event.
Shelter life for small dogs sometimes makes them anxious - and both these dogs were scared. Jessica greeted me and was soooo nice and kind to them - the dogs didn't have any anxiety at all with her; they trotted off with Jessica and I left. After a few hours getting their luxurious "spa" treatments, the two dogs came out BEAUTIFUL - they pranced out like, "Look at me, look at me, please adopt me!" They smelled delicious and were soft and clean.
The dogs weren't nervous or unhappy; in fact, I think they really enjoyed their day at the spa. Later that evening, the owner himself (Jarbas) came to the event to spruce up all the dogs in the fashion show (there were dogs from another rescue there also). He was so amazing with all the dogs, you can tell he is a dog-person - he fluffed them all up, and even put some doggie glitter on them.
All the dogs were a big hit with everyone at the event! The store is really cute, was super clean, and sells all kinds of fun stuff for your 4-legged friend - collars, toys, treats, etc. Parking is available right in front of the shop. It is my belief that if you have a dog you take to a groomer, you love and pamper that dog and want whoever grooms them to do the same; the owner and employees of this shop are those people.

Before I begin with my review, I want to say that the owner at this location is extremely nice as well as the first lady I dealt with at the register. My one star and review are based on the following. I can't believe I paid $94 for my dog to be groomed and teeth brushed. Completely insane! My dog is a mini schnauzer. He had mats so it was recommended to have him shaved and allow for his hair to grow again.
Please explain to me how this turned out to be $85? Also, I tell the lady at the front register that it seems like a lot of money for a dog grooming, so she leaves to get my dog. When she returns she puts my dog on the floor while a client is coming in with the door open. This place is located in front of a Main Street by sunset place in South Miami while cars are driving by. I was so annoyed! I will never return to this place again. Never again!
