Doran's Canine College offers obedience training, problem solving and boarding for dogs. We are located in New Albany Ohio and primarily service the central Ohio area. We started training dogs as Doran's Canine College in 1971, and our owner trained dogs for 23 years prior to opening his own business. Facebook Users - Our Facebook account will not let us login. Although we will continue to try to correct the problem, please use our web site or call us for information or scheduling.
Services
Before opening Doran's Canine College, Walter Doran trained guide dogs for the blind for twenty-two years and was the director of training at Pilot Dogs, Inc. Walter has been training dogs professionally since 1951. As he says, "every dog is a new challenge". We have been offering dog training and boarding since 1971, and to this day continue to love all aspects of the business.
Our most popular obedience course is a two week resident obedience course. For this course your dog is boarded at our facility and our trainers work with them daily (M-F). This is an on-leash obedience course. In addition, we teach dogs not to jump up on people and work on other problem areas for owners.
Note: All dogs being boarded (includes resident training dogs) must be current on all vet recommended vaccinations and include Bordetella and Canine Influenza. Dogs vaccinated with the live Bordetella vaccine may not be boarded during the first three weeks after the vaccine is given. These guidelines are for the protection of all of the dogs in our kennel.

Went in for an interview & the place is horrible! Cold, damp, cement floor. Bathroom was a small area with toilet & in same small space was where they bathed dogs. like a shower in concrete. rusty damp. they have been around for a while, but, they either need to close or seriously think about a new location or some updates. They seem to think also, that if hired, or whoever is hired will come in on a level 2 & a level 3 snow emergency. Well, I know we all should know about these by now, but, I will not risk my life for any person in dog.

The fact that that was stated was ridiculous. Hey, you own the place, you come risk your life. I was so disgusted with this place. sad rhi g there were dogs boarding. So, make sure you demand a tour before you leave your dogs here, because I think you will change your mind. If they do t give you a tour. well, now you know why.

Brett and Justin were great trainers. They gave us lots of good advice and techniques for getting our dog under control. Highly recommend Doran's!

The price is low for boarding, but you get what you pay for. I hadn't seen it prior to picking up my dog and I wish I had done walk-through. It was super loud, concrete only, the floor was wet and our pup was definitely uncomfortable and scared. Next time I will pay for a nicer place.

We sent our puppy there for the two-week training course and they transformed him from an out-of-control maniac into the happy, calm addition to our family that we always wanted. We were at the end of our rope and now we have a dog that brings happiness and joy to our children! We can't recommend them highly enough! They are incredible! UPDATE: It has been nearly a year and our "puppy" is still the best-trained dog on the block. I have called Doran's one or twice to ask for guidance and they were incredibly helpful. Their staff is exceptional. I still highly-recommend Doran's.

Literally the best thing we have done for our family and our pup Mabel. Brett tonight us how to correct behavior that was making our lives miserable. We now have a 6 month old German Shepard that is well behaved and listens to us instead of thinking she's in charge. We can walk her without her lunging and pulling the leash. Thank you to Doran's for helping improve our pup!

My dog is an absolute nutball, and I was very worried about how anyone was going to train him and how much money it was going to cost to do it. The staff at Doran's is great, the price is very affordable, and I was so surprised at how well my dog listened to commands when I watched him with Brett. They then trained us on how to continue to work with him and welcome free follow ups to help us moving forward. Their prices for boarding are also incredibly fair, highly recommend!

Here's the thing. I had an interesting experience because one of the dogs got sick which meant that are camping experience or lodging experience for our dog was cut short so I didn't really have the full on experience of gauging what it would be like for her to have been there for two full weeks however I did see Improvement even after a week. They did offer us to come back but with our schedules being crazy I just never found time to make it work however I'm pleased with the progress and the positive training that they were able to do or reinforce!

First time boarding and dropping our dog off for a 9 day stay. We should have done a walk through visit prior to leaving our dog there. 3 stars because we got our dog back alive (for now) and it was half the price of Pet Suites. The facility was filthy and smelled, yet there was no other option at the time. Detailed instructions were given for meds and treats, yet during pick up we came home with the same amount as was sent.

We lost a nice pet blanket during the transaction and was told to bleach the one towel that did come home. Probably due to some mycoplasma that was floating around while he was in there. We actually got a call on day 7 to see if we could pick him up early, yet we were 700 miles away. Save yourself some peace of mind when it comes to boarding and pay the extra to go somewhere nice.
