Services
The idea of Canal Veterinary Hospital began in 1978 when Dr. Richard L. Baker wanted to bring veterinary service to the community of Denair, California. Four years later, Richard was diagnosed with incurable lung cancer. Richard's brother, Dr. Gary Baker, came alongside him to help further establish the hospital.
Dr. Larsson is a 1987 graduate of U.C. Davis Veterinary School and has been at Canal Veterinary Hospital since 1988. He has a passion for relationships and strives to build a trust bond with his clients and patients by providing comprehensive, transparent care and advice. Dr. Larsson's favorite area of veterinary work is internal medicine and he is always studying to keep up to date on the latest research and standards of care. In 2019, he and Dr. Heather formed a partnership to purchase the practice from the retiring Dr. Baker.
For almost a year now I have been taking my dogs to Canal Vet. My experience has never been less than excellent! Whether it be a health exam on our new puppy or the passing of our beloved pet, their compassion and caring for our pets is always most important. My primary vet is Dr. Larsen, but we have also seen Dr. Heather and both take the time to explain all procedures to us from start to finish.
The pet food industry has grown exponentially since the market was considered saturated in 1990, capitalizing on the humanization of pets, not on pet-specific nutritional facts. Periodic fasting and/or giving fewer calories has a greater influence on longevity and livelihood than a particular type of diet or dietary supplement.

The whole staff is kind and caring! They take great care of my furry babies! So happy with this vet! From the front office staff to back office staff to veterinarians, everyone is so helpful and knowledgeable. My questions are always answered and I feel safe and assured that they have the best interest of my 3 dogs in mind. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr. Heather! I cannot say enough good things about this vet! So happy we switched to them!

They are absolutely amazing. Their office is clean. Some people say they are expensive but they are a cheaper than the other vets we've been to. They took good care of our puppy. We actually were extremely loyal to another vet in town until we had massive scheduling issues with them. My pup would have missed vital vaccines if it wasn't for them. We've only been 2-3 times but so far we've had nothing but a great experience.

All of the staff at Canal Vet have been absolutely wonderful. Dr. Heather is so attentive & very thorough in her exams. We're always taken back to the room very quickly & the exam is never rushed. It's very obvious how much Dr. Heather & staff love animals. Very happy I made the switch to Canal Vet!

Love Canal Vet! I'm 67 & have had pets all my life - this is the first place that treats my pets like family! So much expertise, care, gentleness. My dogs feel like they r visiting friends when we go there. Plus Dr spends time w them, researches best possible treatments for them, and even calls home to check on them (after a surgery) I would give them 10 stars!

Dr. Larsson has been our vet for many years, and is a most gentle and caring doctor. He has a true understanding for the roles that pets play in our lives, and treats them (and us!) as family. I wouldn't go anywhere else. I totally trust Dr. Larsson and his staff to be there for us and take the best of care of our sweet puppy.

Very Grateful for my experience here. My first time bringing my little chihuahua Chloe here, the staff was so kind and helpful! They have a great selection of animal items, treats and food! Nicholas was our vet tech and he did a Great job! Also had a smooth experience talking with veterinarian Darren about Chloe's teeth issues, he offered solutions and recommendations which gave me alot of relief! Dr. Larson has been my vet for over 20 years. He has seen over the years 4 dog and 2 cats. He goes above and beyond never has he pushed for treatment and always let us decide what's best for out fur babies. Dr heather is new to the team but she to has been great. I highly recommend them for your veterinarian services.

I had my kitten Babe for only a season. I have dogs at my ranch and I love them but I'd never had my very own pet so Babe was different from the rest. Babe was a stray, given to us by my moms coworker. This was a new experience for both me and Babe. I can't even tell you how many times I called the clinic to ask a million questions. They were always happy to help and I can't thank canal vet enough for their support.
I know they did everything they could to save my Babe, she was so special to me. Babe isn't with me anymore and I'll miss her forever but I find a lot of comfort knowing she was in good hands. Thank you so so much to everyone at canal vet

Called Canal Veterinary when my pup got a horrible rash. The fit me right in, the staff was so professional and truly cared. The Dr was so caring, he explained the process and answered all my questions. Canal Veterinary is the BEST VETERINARY I have ever been to hands down. So blessed to have found a wonderful Clinic for my fur babies.

I had a horrible experience with my dog at Monte Vista Vet. I only went there because it was after hours at Canal Vet. Ended up leaving and next day brought my dog back to it's favorite vet, Canal. I just wish they had emergency hours. They are the best! And everyone that works there is awesome, and so caring.

I truly appreciated the doctor coming out to speak to me about our new little addition puppy. I purchased a adorable female pomerania. They care very much about the pets they see everyday. We absolutely recommend to everyone. Shiloh is growing up very fast. Just received her rabies shot and license. Now we are moving to Idaho from California.
