Our wellness protocols are designed to prevent disease and prolong the lives and life quality of your pets. As soon as you welcome a new pets into your home, you should consider preventative care to protect their health. For puppies and kittens, we recommend beginning a vaccination series between six and eight weeks of age.
Depending on your pet's age and vaccination history, your veterinarian might recommend a custom vaccination plan. Pet vaccinations are important for all dogs and cats; even the ones that remain indoors most, if not all, of the time because they could still catch an airborne virus from outside at potty time or through an open window or door screen.
The primary reason you should have your pet spayed or neutered early on is that female dogs and cats can begin their heat cycles as early as seven months and males can develop aggressive behaviors during puppyhood or kittenhood. Spaying and neutering your pets come with a myriad of health and behavioral benefits that allow them to live longer, happier lives.
Dental care is an important and often overlooked factor in keeping your pet healthy and happy. According to the American Veterinary Dental Society, 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by three years of age. Consistent home dental care and routine professional examinations can help prevent problems like bad breath or oral infections.

This place used to be one of the best in town due to the friendly and caring medical attention of Drs Mark and Gaby Riedel. Unfortunately, a management team took over and from that time on, this place is a living hell. Three young women at the front desk treat pet owners rudely and even inform that the above mentioned doctors are now employees of this management company.

When you ask for a price for some pet services over the phone, these front desk employees give you a price but then, when you receive the invoice, the price is much higher. Their attitude and disrespect to pet owners is significant. I decided to take my pet to another animal hospital in the area. Talking to other home owners, I was not surprised to hear that many of them are switching vets. An advice to the doctors: please do something.these people are pushing pet owners away!

Dr. Gabi is great. That's where the positives end. Dr. Mark is not concerned about the well-being of your pet. Lost a cat potentially due to his unwillingness to treat her. Long story but I'll spare the details - just know we are heartbroken. Will never bring another animal here again. Do yourself a favor - take your pet to someone else.

Updated Review 5/6/22: Today I had a visit for my dog who was in pain and met Dr. Shaw for the first time. What an absolutely WONDERFUL experience. She was so pleasant and explained everything thoroughly and was so honest and not too pushy about any treatment. I really love this place and am so happy I found such a great team of veterinarians. Very honest and conservative treatment. Dr. Mark explained everything thoroughly and the full treatment options for our dog. Very happy with North Jersey Animal Hospital!

Have been taking my dog here for 10 years now. Vets were great and the boarding was great also, now not so good. My husband has called several times to board our dog with never any availability even if we called several months in advance. This time I called because my husband had placed a call for boarding and was told that the office manager would get back to him and he never got a call back, when I called I was told moving forward they would not be taking any boarding due to staffing issues. NOT GOOD! How about notifying your clients of this issue, so they can look elsewhere for boarding. Not happy at all with the service.

Please if you love your pets, do not bring them here! my poor dog who was only 8 years old, died & they are fully to blame for it. i just wish that i had the recording of what the doctor had said to my mom compared to what she wrote in her notes bc i would have taken legal actions immediately. but at this point it dwindles down to her words against the doctors. i have been coming to this vet for years & always trusted them. who would question the doctor? they have their degree, i don't. but i live with the regret of not seeking another doctor. i was bringing my pup for a check up bc he had a really bad cough almost like hacking. & at first they informed my mom that he sound like he had a heart murmur & prescribed antibiotics, for whatever reason they prescribed antibiotics for a heart murmur is beyond me. we had brought him in a few times & it seemed like nothing was helping. well the week prior before his death, we brought him in bc he wasn't doing so well & that's when they decided to take a chest x-ray. the doctor specifically said to my mother that his heart was fine & she did not sense a heart murmur but there was white spots on his lungs from the x-ray & gave him a different kind of antibiotic. & the thing that really pisses me off was that i asked for his medical history & the doctors notes after he passed & in the notes she had wrote down that he had stage 4 out of 6 heart murmur & when i had called to speak to the doctor on the phone in regards to the notes, she said that she told my mom that he did have a heart murmur & to come back the next day if the medication wasn't working. first of all, that was my mothers baby. when it came to him, she did everything & if the doctor had said he had a heart murmur, she would have asked for more tests right then & there. so not only did she basically say my mom was lying but her stating that she told my mom to come back the next day if the medication wasn't working was a load of bs bc AGAIN, my mom kept up with his appointments always. & no doctor will tell you to take a medication for one single day & come back the next day if it isn't working. at most, doctors would suggest a week. but again, seems like she's trying to cover her own ass. bc no way in hell my mom would have missed this kind of information. & the one thing that gets me is the first time they heard the heart murmur, why didn't they do more tests right then & there?! why did we come back multiple times? & the next visit was suppose to be his ultrasound but sadly, he didn't even make it. it almost makes me think that if he was in proper care, he would still be alive today. i fully blame this vet for not giving my dog the care he needed. not only are we grieving but we all are full of guilt. we trusted you & you failed us. & not only did my dog have STAGE FIVE heart murmur by the time we brought him to the animal hospital in clifton, but his heart was enlarged to 90%, his lungs were filling up with fluid & he had heart failure. we were bringing my dog nonstop for the past couple of months to this vet about his problems & this animal hospital was able to tell us everything wrong with him in just a few hours. my poor dog literally suffered for his last few hours bc he could not breathe. imagine watching your dog from an oxygen box, tongue pale purple, & throwing up blood. not to mention, i have other family members who bring their pets this location & i have told them to NEVER step foot in this place. one of my cousins brought her dog to a new vet & turns out he has a heart murmur. & you know what that vet did, the same day of his first visit when they indicted a heart murmur? they took tests. my other cousin took her couple month old husky here to get his shots & since his shots, he has literally been eating himself. & when my cousin called in a panic, letting them know she needs to come now bc he was bleeding, they simply told her to find another vet bc they can't see her today. & even if she comes, they won't see her dog. THIS PLACE IS UNBELIEVABLE & SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!

2 of my 3 dogs had problems with their urinary tracts. Do HIPAA laws apply to animals? No they don't! Leave a full message on my cell explaining what's wrong with my dogs and tell me why you had the balls to charge us $400. These doctors and the staff flat out suck! Look at Minney Mouse with the 100 shades of color in her hair plus the 100 tattoos. What a fucking joke! Find another Vet!

So far so good. Even though there is a pandemic, I was able to get an appointment rather quickly. I am very impressed with their tech service. Everyday I have an appointment to bring the cat in, so that the technicians can admit her sister his medication. I have never been to a vet before who offers at service.

I contacted the vet because I am a new patient and they told me one thing and when I called today to schedule my visit, they informed me that the doctor is not available. Sad thing this happened twice and the receptionist was so rude, instead of being kind and sweet about the mix up her words were "do you want to reschedule or not, I'm busy here" Wayne has much better places to go! Look else where

Scheduled an appointment for euthanasia for my dog that was dying/suffering from kidney failure. Made the appointment on a Thursday for a Friday and on Friday morning they call me saying that they're cancelling because they don't have the euthanasia drugs in stock and it would be another week. My dog was suffering and this day was his final day. He couldn't even go outside and hadn't eaten in days.

Thank god another vet was able to get us in for a decent price. Not to mention the vets they gave me to call wanted an extra 7-900$ more then they charged for this procedure.

Love this place! I was going to another hospital, which is the same distance from my house and just calling them was horrible. I felt like they were bothered. When I call North Jersey it's a complete difference; I'm not hesitant to call them. Everyone is so nice. They're super accommodating and I know first hand because 1 of our dogs had a seizure and they took us right in with no issues. Thank you guys!

North Jersey Animal Hospital is amazing. They took such great care of my cats, and i am forever grateful. Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabby have always called me about test results, and issue with my cats. They are professional, compassionate, a great vets. I am just grateful to them. I had to put my cat, Luna down two weeks ago, sadly. They knew Luna very well, she was. difficult to handle but was always willing to do whatever to make sure she was taken care of. Great place.

My dog was sick and deteriorating quickly. North Jersey did 3 months of testing plus fees over $1500 with NO answers. And lied about not having test results when they did and didn't call me. Took my dog to another vet and in less than 24 hours had all of our answers. Lymphoma and large intestinal mass. Shame on this animal hospital. I would never take any pet there again.

I have to write to praise the kindness and compassionate nature of both Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabby. I know them as my neighbors and on two ocassions had to run to their home with injured animals. I found an injured squirrel at death's door and Dr. Mark scooped him up and made him comfortable in his home until he could bring him to work the next day.

Just today I discovered an injured bird with a broken wing in my yard. Again I ran the bird up to Dr. Mark at his home and he graciously took the bird and said he will try to help! Both Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabby are lovely competent and kind hearted vets with the intentions to help any animal in need. Thank you and glad you are in my neighborhood!

Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabi are very kind, gentle and attentive. I have been bringing my 4 cats to them since 2015. Dr. Gabi essentially saved my cat Kismet's life when I had brought her in for vaccinations and Dr. Gabi noticed something was not right with her. She even personally called me the next day to ask how she was doing. Dr. Mark always takes his time to answer all my questions during our appointments.

I just brought my cat Kismet in today for her chin acne and her ears and he didn't prescribe me any meds because he said what i had been doing on my own was sufficient- there are a lot of vets out there who would just inject a cat with steroids and charge you. Dr. Mark isn't like that, he's very honest and caring. Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabi are honestly the best veterinarians in the area and I am very thankful for them!

Had an emergency with our oldest dachshund who had something wrong with his eye on Christmas Day. We called north jersey day after Christmas after two other vets who were completely booked and wanted to charge emergency fee. North jersey came through with availability and affordability. They were amazing! So kind and extremely thorough. Our dog Cooper had an abrasion on his eye an would have gotten worse if we couldn't have had him seen.

His eye is so much better and loved that I got a call to see how he was doing. Very professional. I highly recommend north jersey animal hospital. They are our new vet. On 9/18/2017 I had both of my dogs to see Dr. Gaby for diarrhea and both had stopped eating after having these symptoms for 5 days. I was giving them Imodium for symptoms but not effective.

She was very thorough and showed empathy for them both. My 12 year old dachshund was dehydrated and received an injection and my 17 year old dachshund was not. Both received a prescription and diet of rice and boiled chicken. For two dogs my bill was not even $300 so I find fees extremely affordable and fair. After twelve hours both were doing much better. I received a follow up call from Dr. Gaby today 9/19/2017 to inquire how my dogs were and I find her to be very professional and again I recommend this practice.

Do not come here, all they want to do is take your money! My Pomeranian fractured her paw and with them knowing there was nothing they can do they told me to come to the office anyway. They had no medication to put her under to realign the bone, they charged me over $300 to take X-rays and refer me to a specialist! My dog was in pain for hours because of these terrible people! This business needs to be shut down Dr Mark and Dr Gabby are terrible! DO NOT COME HERE!

Dr. Gabby is an excellent vet. My pup Ella was having horrible ear, skin and eye issues and Dr. Gabby worked with us to find the right medication to treat Ella's allergies. I always get a follow up call after every appointment, and when Ella was really not feeling well Dr. Gabby called me herself to Follow-up. They always tell me prices up front and help me make the best decisions for Ella. I am extremely picky about my dog's diet, vet care, training and overall well-being and NJAH has exceeded my expectations!

I have to give it at least 2 stars because they did take care of chestnut when in need but they never tell you how much our going cost you get up to the reception area and they say 500 really I mean you couldn't come in and see what we can do instead of just throwing this fee at me and Also there's no compassion you are supposed to associate with the rescues really I asked if I can get a payment plan so the response I got was it has to be paid in full we can see chesntnut if it's not and we are going to send you to collection wow this is coming from a girl who prob makes 10 dollars an hour relax kid! And as far as dr mark why don't you try picking up the phone and talking to your clients I'm done with this pace plenty of great vets around!

Update: Shortly after our dog Chica's ashes were returned, we received a call from North Jersey Animal Hospital. Dr. Reidel called personally to leave a message of condolence for our loss. While I cannot let my wife hear it because she would break down, I will tell her that the doctor did call. This is exactly the type of care and service that I had come to expect, and had always received from Dr. Reidel. Again, while we were NOT happy with the billing and treatment provided by one of the covering doctors (Kevin Shimel), the REIDELS are as good as it gets.

I've been going to North Jersey Animal Hospital for 30 years through their various veterinarians with my many dogs. Dr. Mark and Dr. Gabby are great. They are very knowledgeable and never rush you through a visit. The staff is great and I don't ever have a problem seeing a doctor, even on short notice. They have referred me to the proper specialist when necessary and have helped me keep my 3 dogs healthy.

We took our shih tzu puppy here for his first check up as soon as he arrived to us. The vets and staff were so kind and helpful. They played with our puppy and made him feel relaxed. We had our children with us and they gave them coloring books and crayons while we were waiting. When the vet came he checked our pup and even let the kids listen to his heartbeat. They were so excited. We have been back for routine visits and he explains everything he is going to check for and explain the vaccines he is giving.

Yet another satisfying visit to this exemplary practice! I have seen both Drs. Riedel and they are thorough, relaxed, and down-to-earth. Practical recommendations, willingness to answer questions, even about alternative treatments (homeopathic, over-the-counter, homemade). I switched to this practice because they provide boarding, and it was confusing to verify that shots were up to date when it was time to board; the other practice was a bit more hurried, and we would end up seeing a different Dr. every visit. Here, even the techs/assistants know my dog's name even though she only boards once or twice a year--fabulous.

Another thing to recommend them is that they are active with animal rescue, and usually have a few cats/kittens available for adoption on display in the waiting room. (I never give 5 stars, but if I did, they'd be the ones to get them.)

My two ferrets, Bailey and Jameson, have gone to the North Jersey Animal hospital since they were babies. I absolutely love it there! Dr. Frantz is soooo knowledgeable about ferrets and always answers all of my questions no matter how ridiculous. You can really tell he loves working with animals and is always great with my ferrets. There aren't a lot of vets in the area that specialize in the care of ferrets so I feel like I really lucked out when I found Dr. Frantz! I have recommended him highly to all of my friends.

I found these guys on a recommendation. I have been there a few times. Thankfully, the staff was mostly very pleasant and helpful. Dr. Frantz seems to know what he's doing. They diagnosed something in my dog that 4 other vets couldn't and it helped relieve her of some discomfort. My puppy passed away there :( and they were helpful and spent lots of time with me.

The doctors are not very warm (in fact, quite cold) in a very dire time (Frantz and Riedel). I was distraught and if it wasn't for Christine (at the front desk), I would have been in big trouble. So, they're very knowledgable but don't expect much sympathy from the doctors.

I will forever be in the debt of Dr Reidel -- he got my cat off insulin. she was on 3 units 2x per day. that's a LOT of insulin for a cat. Granted it was the special diet -- hills DM prescription -- that probably was the main factor, but still, no other vet had been able to make it crystal clear that this food, and strictly and only this food, would improve her ability to metabolize glucose. i had said in my previous review that the front-desk staff was very warm and friendly. well, i hadn't yet met the "office manager". she's quite the charmer. i think the rottweilers and pit bulls were more even-tempered than this woman. she is rude and unhelpful and won't look up at you unless you speak directly to her and then she sighs like it's a big interruption. sometimes the female dogs aren't the only bitches in there.
