To maintain a shelter for homeless and unwanted cats with the goal of placing all healthy cats into loving adoptive homes while providing sanctuary for cats that are terminally ill, considered unadoptable, or whose owners have arranged for their continued lifetime care. In a nurturing, rehabilitative environment, we ensure the health of all cats entrusted to our care, promote spaying and neutering, and resort to euthanasia only as a matter of compassion for cats whose terminal illness causes suffering.

Services
Since we receive no government funding, we depend on the generosity of those who desire to help homeless cats. Funds received from memberships, donations, bequests, and special events support the daily expenses of caring for the cats. Please help us to provide new homes and hope for our cats.
Then Type in Friends of Cats. Relinquishing a cat requires an appointment with our office staff and is based on availability of space at the shelter. A blood test for FIV and FELV is required. There is a fee for relinquishments. Older and unadoptable cats are subject to the rules of our Immediate Care Program.
Visiting with, grooming and playing with adoptable cats to ensure their socialization and to help new arrivals overcome relinquishment anxiety or depression. This helps keep kitties active, used to being handled, and aware that they are loved. Helping with on-site building maintenance and grounds keeping projects (planting, weeding, cleanup, painting, construction and repairs as needed).
Your estate planning should include planning for the future care of your cats. In the event that no one among the surviving members of your family can take care of your cats, Friends of Cats, Inc. can provide a safe, secure and dependable environment for your cat or cats for the balance of their natural lives.

The staff is so amazing. Friendly and knowledgeable. The cats are so precious. It's the best shelter I could imagine for cats in need. Stop in for a visit to give all the kitties some love.

Lots of cats available- more than are on the website. You can go into the rooms and interact with them freely.

We love Friends of Cats! This is 100% the type of place that you will go into thinking you have a plan and leave with something so much better! The staff is very sweet and seem to really care for the animals here. The entire touring process was thoroughly explained to us and there are small booklets that show you the available cats or kittens in each room.

I felt comfortable right away to explore and so many of the cats here are lovable and full of personality. Rachel, our guide, had a wealth of information to provide and allowed us the space to get to know a handful of cats. We had a tough time choosing as there are so many deserving pets, however, we did decide on a small kitten named Derek that we have since renamed Binkle.

I can't thank Friends of Cats enough for helping us find our tiny fur baby and making the experience so pleasant. It's amazing to see such an organized shelter with the cats best interest in mind. Take a look for yourself and you will see! Looking forward to the memories to come

I drove 3 hours to take a mom & 3 kittens here as nobody else could help me with the situation. Cora the shelter manager was very kind & efficient. All of the cats look happy & relaxed. One of the employees was shredding up rotisserie chicken for lunch for the cats. Several people came in with donations for the cats while I was there. This seems like a great place for the cats.

Went to look with hopes of adopting a cat today. My son and I wandered looking at all of the animals and after spending time and making our decision we were told that the cat was not up for adoption. There are volunteers there and the lady working at the counter said that's what we get for asking volunteers what animals are up for adoption. We didn't ask which cats were up for adoption as I did not know to do that.

Also the volunteers did not provide that information. The lady managing the location today was very rude and unkind. There should definitely be information provided upfront if you are looking to adopt and which cats are available and if you were looking to volunteer or pet the animals than the whole area is open to you. When I first arrived I asked about the cats behind the counter and she said none of those cats were for adoption that we were free to look at all of the other areas.

It is not fair to fall in love with an animal and then go home without one. Very very disappointed and how we were treated and ultimately and how the animals were treated why not allowing them to go home to good homes.

We love friends of cats! We stop in from time to time to visit the cats and make a donation. We have adopted our two cats from here and the staff was very helpful. I highly suggest stopping in if you are interested in rescuing a cat or just to support a great cause.

This place is amazing for putting a cat up for adoption the process is very easy. unfortunately we couldn't keep our cat but we did find this shelter. i felt good bringing this kitten here because i saw that the cats here were well taken care of. the service is great and so are the people here. I definitely recommend this place if you want to adopt or put a cat up for an adoption. This is a no kill shelter as well so it makes me even more comfortable.

This is a no-kill cat shelter and I appreciate all the effort and care the staff and volunteers take with the animals. My husband and I have visited often over the past seven years to see the kitties and we know that they are well taken care of. It is a clean and comfortable place for cats of all ages.

After having a terrible experience with SD Humane society and losing sour little kitten Dracula, we were devastated. We couldn't believe how little they actually care to check the wellness of their animals. That's when we stumbled across this place and it's amazing. Everyone genuinely cares about the animals. We loved seeing Batman roam the office and all the animals have space to roam.

We just recently adopted this little guy Ricky and he's been nothing but a bundle of joy. He's got such a personality. Before we adopted we confirmed that he's been tested and up to date on all his vaccines. While we were there, some people had brought in 9 cats that were abandoned and they immediately tested them and put them into quarantine.

That confirmed that they actually take these important precautions. They also even called to see how little Ricky was doing and I was happy to tell them he fits right in at home with the other cats, though I forgot mention that he's spoiled with lots of love!

This place is a scam. They charged me $5,000.00 and $10,000 for 2 healthy cats. I was desperate because I was moving to San Diego from out of town and had 4 cats and my apt. complex would only let me have 2 cats. A friend went by to check on my cats for me and told me not to visit them because I would get too upset. I did go by to see them and was shocked at what I saw. And, yes, I was very upset and wanted my 2 cats back, but they wouldn't let me take my cats back. Maybe they were afraid I would ask for my $15,000.00 back. Cat lovers beware! Big time rip-off.

This place is cat heaven! The cats here are allowed to wander the facility and they're all so lovable. They're able to go outside(into a fenced enclosure) and inside as they please. I personally fell in love with Bubby at first sight, she has the most beautiful eyes and she purred up a storm the entire time I was loving on her. The staff were also very helpful and sweet people, you can really tell that they love what they do and that they really love those cats.

We got our kitten from This piss smelling dumping looking, frumpy looking unsanitary people. Our cat already had fleas and we have had her two weeks that happened when she came home. If she was born in facility then why would she be so ski-dish? Don't get us wrong we love our baby but jeezzzzz if they can make an amazon wish list for the public and can go buy burritos they can buy their own supplies. They are double the human societies costs

My son did all his high school community service hours here and I've volunteered in the past, informally. I went in today to offer some help and found out they wash, dry and refill all their cat boxes EVERYDAY! And believe me. there were a lot of them! They also feed all the cats wet food everyday which is no small feet. I was impressed by all the hard working staff and watched Heidi, very diplomatically, deal with a difficult and obnoxious "customer". Very nice shelter!

I was really impressed with the hard work, dedication, and commitment of the staff here. They truly care for the well-being of their kitties and want to make sure they are happy and healthy in their new forever homes. They keep you well informed on which cats fit the personality type you're looking for and who would be a good match for both the family and the cat.

I respect how they let the cat decide if they want to go home with you or not. It makes it feel like an inclusive environment. We adopted our first kitty under the name Aquarius from them and couldn't be more thrilled. Now, we are looking for a friend for him, because Aquarius (now named Merlin) LOVES to groom and hold on to your hand or foot, while he snuggles. We will most likely come back here to look for his Little Brother, if we cant find a little one at a shelter close by. Two thumbs up!

This place needs to change their name to "Friends of Adoptable Indoor Cats Only". They refused to take my 1 year old calico kitten because they said she wouldn't use a litter box. The employee Robin told me that I could take her to any county shelter and they wouldn't kill her. My coworker called this place just a few hours later and Robin had told him she couldn't think of ANY shelters that were truly no kill shelters. So which one is it Robin? Don't trust this place.
