Services
Look no further for the opportunity to fill your home with the unconditional love that is available through adopting an animal and giving them the FURever home they deserve. Visiting the shelter is the very best way to see and meet all of our adoptable pets! Please Note: Due to the 1) high demand for kittens and 2) large amount of kittens we receive during summer months, we are not always able to post each kitten available for adoption at the shelter. However, if you are interested in adopting a kitten, simply list "kitten" on your adoption application (and, if preferred, a male or female).
Thank you for considering adoption! By adopting a horse, you make a commitment to take care of the horse for the rest of its life. If you would like to be considered for adoption, you MUST schedule an appointment to meet and ride the horse that you are interested in. Please email the Adoption Center team at frontdesk@humanesocietyhbg.org to schedule your appointment.
If you're looking for a wonderful life-long companion, then you've come to the right place! HSHA has animals of every shape and size to choose from. During their stay, our residents are treated by HSHA staff and volunteers to many enriching activities, such as walks, outings, events, school visits and socialization.
Visit our Adoptable Pets Page or stop by the Shelter to check out our current residents available for adoption. If you find a pet that seems to be the right fit for your family, please fill out the appropriate Adoption Application below! It will be submitted directly to our Adoption Team!. You will receive a notification within 1 business day that the Application has been received.

This is where we typically take our dog for her shots and now we are taking our cats too. They offer shots at extremely low prices to help pets stay healthy. The people at this place really care and it shows. They are great with the animals. They are quick as well. They get your pets in and out. There really isn't too much time for the pet or the owner to be anxious about their visit. They provide after care information and a rabies tag if you get that shot for your pet.

We had one of the worst days of our lives. We had to say goodbye to our beloved dog Kane of 16 1/2 years. Our hardest decision we have ever made. The friendly and caring staff made the process easier. Thank you

Hours listed are not accurate. Drove 40 minutes to get there only to find out walk throughs end at 3 pm. Stupid procedure for adoption. By the time they look at your application the animal you want is gone. Animals for adoption is never up to date. Rude staff who hung up on me when I asked if we could possibly get in during their "appointment" hours because their website was inaccurate and we'd driven so far. It was not even 4 p.m. Ridiculous, rude, and make it incredibly difficult to adopt.

One of the worst humane societies in the area from the top down. Requires applications that take a long time to process, and often when they do the animal you liked it gone. Their hours are atrocious and do not sync up with the ones google provides. If you're looking for a new pet and want to walk in, I would call first to make sure they are open.

Staff also extremely rude, quick to hang up as well. There are a LOT of good shelters, and rescues out there. Unfortunately this place is not anymore. So many bad experiences.

Tried to bring in a sick stay animal and no one wanted to help us. it was new years day which i get but there were people inside and when we asked a girl that came out about reallyy needing their help she was less then helpful. And seemed like she was annoyed that we asked for help. sad seeing as this is a place that should want to help sick and stay animals.

This facility always takes great care of our animals! My family & I have been coming to Humane Society for 20+ years, & have no complaints. They're thorough in their exams, & they always break information down for all involved to understand, & provide multiple options & services & outside resources where needed, letting the customer decide what is best for them & their loved fur baby(ies)!

Awesome staff with loving animals just looking for homes! They made the adoption process easy, fast, and gave great advice to me (as a first time dog owner). Thank you so much for LilySpot, she is the sweetest dog on the planet and the perfect dog for me! Definitely give this shelter a chance, they genuinely care for these animals and will do anything to get them in the right home!
