The Clinic will remain open. To create a more humane and responsible community by eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion. Keeping your pet's food and water bowls clean is just as important as providing your furry friend with fresh food and water each day. You wouldn't eat off the same plate or drink out of the same glass. As a lifelong animal lover, it didn't take much to get Brandon Pavlacka to join the VBSPCA Board of Directors once an opportunity presented itself earlier this year.

Our Mission: It is the mission of the Virginia Beach Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (VBSPCA) to create a more humane and responsible community by eliminating animal suffering while increasing human compassion. Our Vision: We connect people and pets. As a trusted resource for our community, we create lasting adoptions, provide quality veterinary care, and inspire compassionate action through education and awareness. We are innovative, we are passionate, and we are committed. In partnership with our community, we end animal homelessness.
The Virginia Beach SPCA provides a number of services to the Hampton Roads community geared toward decreasing suffering while increasing compassion. The Virginia Beach SPCA veterinary clinic provides low cost services to families with annual incomes less than $65,000, military members, and first responders.
VBSPCA Membership is simple - Authorize a recurring donation of $10 a month. In exchange for this dependable support, members receive special benefits including discounts on retail, adoptions, and events! VBSPCA Members also receive pet resources mailed right to their home. But there is something our members find even more meaningful than the benefits we offer, and that is the knowledge that their support is truly unique.
If you're interested in adopting a pet, please take a few moments to read our Adoption Procedures page. Please remember that owning a pet is a lifetime commitment, and we are looking for responsible and permanent homes for all our animals. New animals arrive at our shelter every day, so please check back frequently until you find the right match.

I take my dog Daisy to the VBSPCA Clinic. I've watched how the staff gently cares for the animals. You can see the tenderness in their faces. In the Cattery and Dog Shelter, the crates are clean and their is food and water. It is a wonderful place for animals waiting for a family. Please consider adopting. So many loving animals need and want a home. Or, please consider fostering. You will really be saving a life.

The ladies that work in the adoption location are amazing. I am very disappointed in how the vaccines have been handled for my new baby. It seems to me that it may be a cost issue. The vets seems to follow many ideals that are not recommended by most vets.

This is a very great shelter. The animals are clearly taken care of and the staff love what they do. Most of the time there aren't even that many dogs in the kennels due to the high adoption rate for them. They take in cats, small animals (like rabbits, gerbils, and mice) and also have a clinic. If you're looking for your furbaby I'd go here (like I did for mine!).

I've been fostering kittens since 2018 and love doing it. The Coordinator does a remarkable job in keeping the program running smoothly from the time I pick them up to check-ups and getting them ready for adoption. Five stars is not enough!

I have nothing but respect and admiration for the staff at the Virginia Beach SPCA. I have seen how hard they work, how well they take care of the animals, and above all how much they CARE. The kennel staff in particular will always be special to me. they took such good care of my sweet baby Athena during her time there and gave her extra love to help with her anxiety.

I'm sure it was because of this that she was able to learn to trust again and build a bond with me so that she could transition smoothly into her forever home. For that I will always be grateful Thanks guys, y'all are the best!

We went to VBSPCA last Sat, Oct 30th to look for a kitten. My son was the one who chose Skye (Wicca before the adoption). She's so adorable & cute. We fell in love with her right away. So that same day, we decided that we wanted to take her home. This is our first time to adopt a pet. But we have to wait & check if we're the right family for her. We also have to prepare everything that she needs.

We received a call the following day letting us know that we've been approved to adopt her. Then, we went back on Nov 2 to fill up the adoption papers & finally took her home. I also wanted to let you know that the ladies (the one who helped with filling up the forms & the volunteers) are nice. Anyway, back to Skye . When we got home she was a little timid.

But not even an hour, she already started walking around the room, then started playing with us. She's so gentle. She likes running around the house. It's been only 3 days & she never stops purring. We bought her two beds but she likes to sleeps on my son's bed. We also took a lot of pics 'coz she's so cute .

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful at this Holland Rd SPCA (hospital side). We needed our cat spaded (female), and she did just fine. Cost was $90 for spade, but other fees could accumulate if your cat needs special attention (issues like "overweight" or extra sedation will cost you small extra fees).

I bring my dog Chaz to the vet clinic here. Everyone is really nice and he gets treated like family. Chaz is my first dog as an adult and adopted through rehoming. They got him through heartworm treatment with exceptional care, and have continued to guide me through all of his healthcare needs. We have moved further away, but I won't take my pup anywhere else!

Great shelter! They have rooms with groups of cats to interact with many at a time, and they are one of few shelters who allow small children to visit the animals. We found our sweet, sweet kitten here, or rather he found us. He was the most perfect feline granted by destiny. He was a little ill (runny poos) while we had undergone the adoption process but they took good care of him and kept us well-informed the whole time. He has been a blessing in this home and will surely continue to live up to his name, Shinyu (Japanese for Best Friend)

This SPCA is wonderful. As a homeless vet with a dog, not only did their pantry give me food but they were able to find healthy food, and continue to contact me when more healthy food came in to their pantry. Because of them, my dog seems to have more energy and her coat has greatly improved. I have a degree in Mass Communications and am a multi-award-winning publicist. If they were hiring, I would love to be a public relations specialist for them because I would promote all their great works! The photo is of my dog they helped.
