Services
Our Mission is to promote and provide for the humane treatment of cats and dogs in Forsyth County, North Carolina. Our Goal: In support of our mission, the Forsyth Humane Society (FHS) is committed to achieving a 90% save rate of shelter dogs and cats in Forsyth County by 2023. Education - FHS will educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering pets to decrease the number of homeless animals living in Forsyth County.
FHS only cares for cats and dogs in Forsyth County. Occasionally, Forsyth County Animal Services receives animals such as hamsters, rabbits, pigs or horses for adoption. Ideally, an animal listed on our stray hold will be reclaimed by the pet's owner. If not, we will then assess the pet medically and behaviorally for our adoption program.
Forsyth Humane Society has two locations. In general, most adoptable dogs and cats will be at our Country Club location. If you are looking for a lost pet or need to surrender an animal, it is best reach out to our University North location first.
Together we can #SAVEFURSYTH! Join us in our mission to make a measurable and positive impact in the lives of homeless cats and dogs in Forsyth County. Below are some of our annual fundraising events.

HS took in this beauty in to be adopted after I found her under 52 near downtown Winston Salem. She is spayed and ready for her forever home. Thank you HS, for giving "Goldie" a second chance in life.

I adopted a 5 month old kitten and she's almost 7 months now. She was skittish and afraid of everything now she is very loving and trusts me and my other cat and dog. She has made herself part of the family

Visited just to look around at the cats and dogs and ended up adopting the sweetest cat. Had a great experience and would recommend anyone in Winston to adopt their pets from here.

Me, my wife and my children came to the humane society yesterday. We looked at several dogs and finally made the decision to adopt a mixed breed dog named Ronald. Since then Ronald has stolen the hearts of our whole family. He fits right in. Such a good boy. We just wanted to thank the staff for all the guidance of finding the perfect fit. Everyone was super nice and answered all the questions we asked. Thank you so much for letting us adopt this wonderful animal.

I wanted to adopt a pitbull that one of my neighbors was fostering he was the cutest and sweetest puppy ever. My neighbor kept calling the humane society so they can get in contact with me but they never did she have them all of my information. I waited for two months to adopt him but I couldn't because they never called me. I don't know if I want to adopt from there anymore I was really sad to hear that they let another family adopt him knowing that I wanted him.

Forsyth Human Society is a very nice place to adopt a pet. I recently adopted a little cat named Jamie from here, and everyone there was very helpful with the adoption process. They even gave us a little Christmas stocking with some toys and things to get him started. Jamie is a really sweet and playful cat who immediately acted like he had always lived with me. Also, the building is very clean and well kept, and was decorated nicely for Christmas. 10/10 would recommend going here to adopt a pet.

I adopted two senior bonded cats. The Forsyth County humane society is a wonderful, caring, temporary place for cats needing homes. They take wonderful care of the cats here, providing veterinarian care, human touch and love. They have so many beautiful loving babies that need loving homes. June is an amazing volunteer at the Shelter and helped with my adoption decision. Thank you so much! I couldn't be happier.
