Micons Labradors Connie brought home her first Labrador named Coco in 1979. Since then, her and Mike have accomplished multiple show championship titles as well as Master Hunter titles. Connie started with breeding chocolates and eventually fell in love with the light yellows. She bred until she got an almost perfect white in color with slight shading to the ears, which is what we eventually became known for. While we still do the standard colors- black, yellow, chocolate, Connie has expanded the breeding program to have whites, dark chocolates and fox reds.

Extremely horrible experience with Micons! It was even more horrible because the dog that we purchased form Micons was the best dog we have ever had. And he passed away at 2 years old from a GENETIC disorder that could have been avoided! Our 2 year old chocolate lab passed way from Copper Toxicosis, which is prone to happening in labs if you are not performing the correct genetic testing.

Come to find out, they bred his parents, Sierra and Ammo, before even completing the health/genetic testing. the mother is "affected" with the copper Toxicosis genes (meaning she carries both and has copper Toxicosis and can pass it to puppies) and the father was a "carrier" meaning he carries one gene. And they bred those 2 dogs, meaning that 50% would be carrier, and 50% affected.

Our lab, the sweetest in the whole world, DIED at age 2. He spent nearly a week at the historian and we even transferred him to a specialty vet to try to save his life. It was the most awful thing to ever happen to our life, due to POOR BREEDING from this awful breeder! Also, when we went to look at the parents, the mother, Sierra was limping and could hardly walk on her hind leg. They brushed it off like it was no big deal. They also require you to feed your puppy these vitamins, otherwise their health guarantee is void. Once again all about the $$$.

This breeder is just a puppy mill. I bought Angel a 7 year old lab last June 2021. I took her to the vet because she had such bad breath. This is when I noticed how bad her teeth were even though this breeder said she has recently had them cleaned. The vet told me she would need a cleaning and extraction and gave me a price of $1500 - $2400. This was back in July.

She is now at the San Francisco SPCA in dental surgery. The vet just called and said she will probably need most to all of teeth extracted. Which means the cost will be $2400+. Not to mention she will be in pain and may need a second surgery because there is so much damage. I have had many Labs, (not from this breeder) in the past, and they have never had even 1 tooth extracted. This is so irresponsible. I am not a complainer, but when it comes to a dog I have fallen in love with I want to warn others of this breeder's lack of care and honesty.

Micon breeder Connie has at least 3 litters or more per month. The females if they ever get out of the kennel are unsocialized with their teats hanging to the ground. It took a while yet I was able to reverse some of the damage done by lack of time, socialization by the breeder. No one should have that many litters in a months time. The males used at stud frequently die in the kennel.

The female I adopted at age 6 got pyrometria, lost her litter of 3 or she too would have died in the kennel only luckily for her she no longer had any value $$$ for Connie. It's a shame for the breed and the dogs stuck in the kennel. After that experience I adopted from rescue groups to avoid dealing directly with greed driven breeders. The AKC doesn't care as they make money off Micon litters as well as entry fees for the dogs they show. I'd suggest avoiding Connie, her granddaughter if you want a chance at getting a healthy, sound dog as I have with my current, previous rescue dogs.

I'll start with saying that the dog that we got from Micon's was the best dog in the entire world, which makes what I'm about to say so much more difficult. We had to have our 2 year old chocolate lab put to sleep, due to a genetic disorder, Copper Toxicosis. After much research and contact with my vet, this happens in Labradors, but it is avoidable!

Our pup was from Ammo (dad) and Sierra (mom). There IS testing for this copper Toxicosis and when contacting the breeder, she was just now testing the female, after breeding her, which to me is not ok or right. Come to find out, the mother is affected (carried both genes), and the father is a carrier (carrying one gene). When you breed the two, you get some pups that will also be affected and carriers.

Our lab began to throw up, and very soon showed signs of jaundice. He spent a week at the animal hospital and eventually succumbed to the copper Toxicosis, which is genetic. He was only 2 years old. I'm not sure if the breeder was just negligent or what but I don't think it's right to continue to breed the female that is affected and will pass that down to the pups.

I wanted others to be aware of this and that is why I'm posting this review. Also, they "require" to you give your dogs a multivitamin "NuVet" and if you don't they void their guarantee of their dogs health. Which again, is not right, that part is all about money and only money! They require you to give your dogs these vitamins which are completely unnecessary with a good quality puppy food, but again, it's just for the money.

I inquired with many breeders after a comprehensive search and Micons were by far the best. Communication was very quick and responsive, along with updates - a big thank you Connie for always answering my many many questions so quickly and making the whole process clear and easy! And of course such a beautiful perfect puppy! No question about how well Micon's dogs and puppies are treated and looked after, in a caring family environment with great socialisation. Whilst we didn't take the training or puppy pre school options, it's nice to see they take the care & responsibility beyond puppy purchase to offer these further services. Highly recommend Micons.

Not sure why some people are sour on reviews? My experience was just great. The dogs seem to be well taken care of and happy. This was our first Labrador Retriever. I understand why people are so fond of the breed. My Ben has just been the sweetest boy and gets more attention when we go out in public than any of our kids did when they were little. Would and have recommended Micons to family and friends and may even be in the market for another Lab from them in the next few years, if the wife will allow it.

I just got my Labrador puppy 2 weeks ago. His dad is Iceman and his mom is Layla. My pup is Cooper and he is handsome and so smart. He also loves to cuddle. I couldn't be happier. Excellent health as well.

This will be my second puppy that I will have purchased from Micons Labs. I was very impressed with the facility and how all the Labrador puppies are very well taken care of by family members and are always around people and never kenneled and constantly being checked for their health. All the staff show extreme care and love for each and every puppy that's born. I would recommend micons labs to anyone looking for a healthy and intelligent and extremely gentle puppy.

My family and I have adopted 4 Labradors from Micon over the years, and multiple friends have gone here after our recommendation as well. All puppies are happy, healthy, well socialized, gentle, and overall wonderful. The breeding location is spotless, with several generations of dogs living happy retirements on their property. The Micon family are wonderful people who are always a pleasure to work with, and they obviously cherish they're dogs.

They always make sure they're puppies go to good homes, and they're careful and knowledgeable about breeding. It's wonderful to have a reliable place to go to and recommend to people, and we look forward to working with them for our next furry family member

Lol you can't go wrong getting your next best friend from Micons Labradors!

Highly recommend Micons for you pup needs. We picked up our sweet chocolate boy a few days ago and are beyond happy with him. Connie was awesome from the start and very communicative from the second we sent our deposit. She welcomed us into her home and allowed us to have our time picking out our boy and answered any question we had! You won't be disappointed in a pup from here.

These nasty reviews are so far from the truth. We have TWO Micon puppies. Which we got from a different breeder but the breeder used their studs (Justin and Merlin) we couldn't say ENOUGH GOOD things about our babies. The best decision we have ever made. End of story.

Do NOT buy from this breeder! Connie sold me a male golden Labrador but failed to inform me that the mother had to be put down due to her allergies. Needless to say, I had to put my best friend down yesterday at the age of 8 years old. I would never trust a breeder that would hide such important information about a family member. This is a poor breeder and needs to be investigated for poor breeding practices by the AKC!

I would strongly suggest NOT to get your puppy here. This business is a puppy mill! I researched Micons on the web and thought she was good from what I was reading. I put a 200$ Deposit down to hold a pup. We then went to her facility to look at all the dogs. Boy was I disappointed! It was just her and her husband with a bunch of dogs! To many for two older people to handle.

We walked into we're she kept most of her dogs. The barn had such a bad stench of pee. It was awful. All the male dog were all out of control in there pens, like they haven't been out for a while. The female dogs had no emotion, like they've been pregnant to many times. There eyes looked so sad. That's what made me choose a different breeder and loose my 200$. I'm not comfortable knowing that my puppy came from what I think is a puppy mill. We found a mother breeder and we couldn't be happier!

I'm going tomorrow to pick up my second dog from Micons and can't wait to have another great family dog. Repeat business is the best referral I can give but here's my story: I bought a yellow lab from Micons in 2000. She lived to be just shy of 12, a good age for a lab. She had some medical problems but not until a few years before her death and nothing unexpected for an aging dog.

My dog was the best lab we've ever had. I grew up with labs and my family has had 5 total so we know labs. Even my parents say our Micons lab was the best one in terms of temperament and intelligence and she looked like a puppy until the day she died. Regarding the breeders and their treatment of the dogs: my recollection is that the grounds and house are clean and well maintained.

I also recall that the puppies are brought into the home which I don't think breeders usually do. I have a preview of the pup we're getting tomorrow and it's clear she is clean and the photo was taken in the home. I get that can be a misrepresentation but this photo wasn't a great shot - slightly fuzzy. If they were trying to "sell" the dog it would have been a much better quality photo and staged. My impression is that they were playing with the pup and decided she was too cute not to take a photo of. I would recommend Micons to anyone looking for a purebred lab.

We are on our third lab from micons. They have all been extremely healthy. Connie's breeding practices are fine and her property does not smell. Our first lab from micons lived to 14 and our second to 13. Our current lab is 1 year and we are following the vets orders not to have her run long distances and keeping her weight down. The only thing I can complain about is that her dew claws weren't removed like our other two dogs.

We purchased both our lovely white labs from Micon Labs. Our first one Leah was 13 years ago and the second one was Basil 3 years ago. Leah was the healthiest and most wonderful companion dog until last week when she went to doggie heaven. Basil to date has also been healthy and is very active. She has an amazing personality. We love our labs and would not hesitate to buy our next one from them.

When we got our Lab from Micons Yelp was not even around yet. We have had our male lab for over 10 years now and the only health issue we have ever had was an ear infection. He is still going strong and is as playful as the day we brought him home. Best dog ever. Thanks Micons!

We have an 8 month old fox red puppy, Ruby, from Micons Labs. We've had labs in the past and when we decided to get another dog, it really had to be a lab. This puppy is happy, healthy, smart, and absolutely gorgeous. She's been very easy to train. Ruby gets along with everyone and everything, and we're really glad she's here. They've been breeding dogs since forever at Micons and know their dogs well.

They have, and breed, a lot of dogs. It seems like they pay a lot of attention to the characteristics of the dogs they're matching. I called Connie once to tell her how delighted we are with Ruby. She asked which dogs were her parents. She immediately knew the dogs and was glad that the dad's temperament had come through. I spent weeks checking out breeders online before choosing Micons.

Genetic testing for eye and joint problems was important to us because of our experience with one of our other (non Micon) labs. Connie has a wealth of information that she's willing to share. I would go to Micons again if we wanted another pup.

We bought a lab from Micons 4 years ago & he's had 2 knee surgeries. We weren't informed of any knee issues with this breed. Before buying a lab from this breeder, read the contract as far as what is covered on knees. Nothing is covered. Only hip, elbow & eye. 2 surgeries & $8,000 mistake!

We currently have a 4-year old beautiful chocolate female from Micons. We are both long time Lab owners and you can tell that Connie and Mike have some truly beautiful dogs. Their dogs are known for having outstanding dispositions and intelligence in addition to great looks. They also offer hunting training. The facility is clean, the dogs well taken care of. If you're looking for a great hunting partner or a family companion, I highly recommend Micon's.

I purchased a puppy back in 2005. Shortly after my labs 2nd birthday she started acting funny. I took her to Davis and after 2 weeks of testing they found a severe case of angiosarcoma, which they told me they had not seen in such a young dog. She only lived for three more weeks after that. I found out later, after researching, that Micons breeds their dogs into their "teens".

This is cruel to keep breeding one litter after another and extremely hard on the mother. They should be retired after no more than 3 litters and before they hit 6 or 7. This also makes the puppies more susceptible to disease and other issues. I never did find out how old my labs mother was but I can only imagine she was way too old. At the time I called them in to the AKC to investigate, not sure what happened with that. DO NOT PURCHASE PUPS FROM MICONS. They breed cruelty.

My husband and I are appalled by the conditions Micon's labs are kept in. We asked to see the parents of the lab puppies and were shown two barns FULL of adult dogs. It was hot, smelled terrible and the barking was overwhelming. It was one of the saddest things I have ever seen. There is NO way the owners of this place are able to take care of new born pups from their aussie and lab litters when they have 30+ adult dogs to care for.

In addition to having new pups (both aussie and lab litters at the same time) and two barns full of caged, adult labs they also have horses, cats, a bird and acres of land. How is it possible to care for all of this when there is just two of them.it is not. Please do not buy from here.
