Services
For almost 50 years, Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter has been providing exceptional care for homeless animals, working tirelessly to find a permanent, loving home for every cat and dog we serve. Our priority is to save abandoned animals within our community; however, our efforts don't end there. We also partner with shelters around the country to save at risk animals from being euthanized.
Pleasant Animal Shelter has joined the Fear Free Shelter movement. This program provides education to our staff and volunteers to learn ways to reduce the fear, anxiety, and stress (FAS), and frustration that is often experienced by animals coming into the shelter. Using the techniques and strategies learned, we can enrich the environment for the animals we take in while working to understand and support their emotional needs.

I could not recommend this shelter enough! The shelter is very welcoming and everyone is so friendly. I had the opportunity to adopt my two kitten siblings from them, Billy & Joel (nka. Loki & Binx). I recommend this shelter to everyone looking to adopt a new furry friend!

The staff seem passionately devoted to their work. I visit their regularly and can see the care. I could not speak of much else as I have not adopted a pet from them. But I would adopt from them for my first experience. (Obviously any pet adoption comes with unique factors, but those factors do weigh in on how they are treated even in the short/long term at this facilities).

What they show in this photo is not what you live, Don't be fooled or I adopted a kitten named Ray I brought them because they were going to neuter one of them, it was my cat the kitten got sick. He has been ill and they don't care, the answer was return him or take him to another vet as if he were something here they operated on him In this shelter, and they deliver him to me sick and ill he doesn't walk he doesn't eat and he has a fever I brought him, walking, eating running everything was fine and I take him sick.

Managed to snag our sweet pup in March 2020 from MPAS. Everyone there was friendly, helpful, and caring to the animals and made the adoption process easy, while at the same time being thorough and practicing due diligence. If you find a pet that you want to give a forever home, show up EARLY!

Wonderful shelter located right behind the PetSmart. So many friendly animals that need nothing but a home and someone to love them. Come take a look and see the good work the team here is doing. There's no need to buy a pet when the newest member of your family is waiting here for you to pick them up!

Adopted my cat, Ash, about 1 month ago. The process is very quick and easy. I have to say the catteries have a very strong ammonia smell at times but sometimes not. There are plenty of cats available for adoption here and some are free roaming so you can play with them to see their personalities and temperaments. Absolutely do not regret coming here for my first cat : Edit: I am keeping my review as 4-stars as I cannot express enough gratitude for helping me find my best friend, Ash, but a week or two into his time with us, he did show symptoms of an upper respiratory infection, which I know is common for shelter cats, but the staff workers did not mention anything of the sort.

Also he had round worms, which I checked with the vet that he had them for a while, long before he came home with us so I was a little annoyed at the lack of transparency on the animal's health when adopting.
