Strongly believe in supporting and adopting from local animal shelters. I love that Our Companions mail monthly newsletters to keep people informed on how they are doing and other information. I would like to eventually adopt a dog from this facility.

Seems like a caring organization but I wasn't allowed to adopt one kitten from them. I have two older cats and my youngest needed a playmate. They argued I should get an older cat (but I already tried fostering two separate and it didn't work out) or that I should get two kittens. Ummm no. I ended up driving 2 hours for a free kitten so it's all good. If you're getting your first pet this might be a good place to start.

I had to adopt out my cat and Our Companions very fortunately had an opening in their cat sanctuary. Their sanctuary is in a beautiful location in Ashford, has generous sized room for the cats and very thorough in the adoption process. Although it was very difficult to let go of my cat, Karen and Lyndsey were so supportive and professional and removed any doubts about my decision. I know my cat will find the right forever home with Our Companions. I cant thank them enough.

These effete places do SOME good work, undoubtedly. but their business model is catered to those who want to do volunteer work & those who want to trumpet their "rescue" for the world to know what good people they are. Do yourself a favor and go to the Hartford or New Britain pound (etc.) and get a great, loving dog for $50. For the most part, dogs are what you make of them. Also, breeds suck.

The website was easy to navigate on a phone, we were able to get the information we needed about the dogs they had available and even though we didn't find a dog through them the site was still great.

Our Companions ia a wonderful organization that truly puts the animals first. The staff and volunteers are some of the most dedicated people I have ever met. I highly recommend visiting, donating, volunteering or adopting from Our Companions.

Great people! Love our rescue from them! Have been in contact with them for 3 months since we got him and they have always been making sure it has been a good fit and giving us advice and help! Training classes are great as well. So many helpful instructors!
