Owner
Tina Ziegel, owner of Paws at Home has owned various pets all of her life; birds, cats, dogs, a rabbit and fish. She currently has a beautiful cat named Bobby and a senior pug named Sasha.

Tina originally started Paws at Home with her sister Michelle. When Michelle decided to start a dog day care business, Tina took over the pet sitting business and has been running it for the last four years. Tina is a current volunteer with Labrador Harbor, Labrador Rescuers and she has volunteered in the past with Friends of County Animal Shelters. One of Tina's hobbies is photography and her favorite subjects are her client's pets.

The idea for Paws at Home came into being when a parent from the children's day care center that Tina and Michelle ran asked Tina to take care of their pets when they went on vacation. Tina realized that taking care of animals in the comfort of their own homes really appealed to her and so Paws at Home became a part time job, then developed into a full time, full service pet sitting business.

Rhonda took wonderful care of our high maintenance dog while we were away for the weekend. She constantly sent updates and photos, which was very reassuring to me. Our dog has food allergy issues and one of the treats he can eat are blueberries. Rhonda noticed that we didn't have anymore (hubby accidentally ate them) so she bought more so our dog wouldn't be without. I truly feel that Rhonda went above and beyond to make our dog feel comfortable and knowing this made me feel reassured while we were away. Thank you Rhonda!

Had been looking for an alternative to boarding our dogs for awhile with not much luck. Meet with Rhonda and she provided a few references I could call. We ended up having her house/dog sit for two days. The experience was great she sent pictures of our dogs which was nice. We have already reserved her for our next trip!

I have seen Rhonda care for all types of animals. Her heart is open to loving everyone from hedgehogs to goats. When I am out of town, it is obvious that Rhonda is very attentive and affable in her relationship with our little Maltese.

Rhonda took care of my three dogs, indoor fish tank and outdoor fish pond for 13 nights. When we originally booked her we only had two dogs, then we took in a foster dog, a 60 lbs chow mix, who is a little bit on the shy side. She did not increase her price for including a third dog at the last minute. One of my dogs, who is a 13 year old basset mix needed vet care during her stay, she kept me informed of what was happening, had to add in an additional medication and additional care, which she handle well.

One of my dogs, a 75 lbs cattle dog mix can be a handful on a leash sometimes, but he needs plenty of exercise, she walked him and the chow mix for a long walk in the morning and then all three dogs for a shorter walk during the evening. The dogs were all healthy and happy when we returned from our vacation. She was very good about communication during our trip, including pictures and I am happy to have found a dog sitter that I can reuse. Her prices are great and she takes excellent care of the dogs and the all the animals and the house were in good shape when we returned.

We have be having Tina watch our pugs for at least 5 years. She has come to our home, and we have taken them to her place. Above all is the sense of trust we have with her expertise, and concern for our dogs' well being. We have one older dog, and he needs medication, and extra care. Tina has been so good to him. I would recommend her service to anyone.

We have been using Tina @ Paws at Home since moving to SD in 2004. She has watched our cats, dogs, fish and guinea pig! She loves them all and they love her. She visits our home and with our latest doggie we board him with her when we go away. He's happy and well adjusted when we get home and has fun playing with the other pets. Socialized boarding is great! and Tina still comes to the house to take care of our kitties. Tina has also gone out of her way multiple times while caring for our animals; we've received phone calls about an eColi outbreak in the water supply while we were on vacation as an example. Tina also went against the evacuation issued for our neighborhood for the wildfires.

She got our animals safely out of our house and brought them to her house. She later met with a friend of ours who could take our 2 cats and dog to their own house until we could come back into town. Overall, I can't rate Tina high enough or recommend her enough. She is excellent, personable and I wouldn't dream of leaving our crew to anyone else!

In response to Tina's comments: I did not have an issue with the fact that you would continue to visit if I did not call when I was expected to return. This is standard procedure for any petsitting company. The part I had a problem with is that you stated that you would REMOVE my pets to a location UNKNOWN if I didn't call for 3 days after my expected return. Again, it does not make sense that I would pay you to come into my house, where my pets are safe and at home, and take them away if for some reason I was unable to call you.

There is a difference! Yes, I would want you to continue to take care of them, and I would pay for you to continue to take care of them. It was the threat of REMOVAL that I had a problem with! And readers, take note - Tina doesn't share my concern that someone I don't know entered my property and my key was not secured! It was NOT in her contract that there could be a substitute.

She was dishonest about her availability and SOMEONE I DID NOT INTERVIEW WENT INTO MY HOUSE! And she is very nonchalant about not keeping my key secure. Kinda secure? NOT OK. "It would be hard to figure out where my key belonged"? ALSO NOT OK! Other petsitters are very serious about the security of my home and pets, which I trusted to Tina in my absence. All in all, this is a very unprofessional service, and my review of one star stands. In fact, based on the owner's comments, I would give Zero Stars if possible.

Tina took such good care of my babies while I was out of town for a wedding. It was so much better for them to have a free run than be caged at a kennel. You can tell how much Tina loves animals and is the perfect person to leave your pets with. I didn't worry at all but certainly would have if I left them in any other environment. Thanks so much Tina!

Excellent! Tina is brilliant, our Scottie (snowee) loves spending time with her and we feel more happy to leave her with her when we go travelling. We had tried a different boarding kennel before (The Animal Keeper in Poway) but really weren't happy with their care, or how our scottie returned very nervous, so hence we looked elsewhere & found Tina. I would happily recommend Tina to anyone.shes really good at what she does and the animals all love being around her.

As a pet sitter I don't leave my dogs just anywhere. I will only leave them with Tina. When they come home they are soooooooo tuckered out from playing with the other small dogs. Tina always sends me videos and pics of my dogs while I am traveling and it makes me smile to know they are safe and having fun! Also she always follows my written feeding instructions to a T and they never come home with stomach issues like they did when I left them with a different sitter. Spoil your little doggie and leave them with Tina.

Tina is our long-time pet sitter. She used to come into our home and walk the dogs/feed them, et al, when we were away. Now our dogs stay with her in her home when we go out of town. She is wonderful and does a great job with our pets. She clearly loves our dogs (in fact, I always like to think that they are her favorites). And they do very well at her house. She sends me photos and texts to let me know how they are doing, which is nice. I definitely recommend her!

I used Tina and her services back in November for a week and will be needing her again in the very near future. She is close to 4S Ranch and is great with the dogs and also makes sure they get some good TLC when you are not around. She either calls or sends you a text message update when the service is complete. Give her a ring if you are a good caring parent to your pooch and want to make sure they are not stuck at home unable to pee or poop.

"Paws At Home" has been our pet sitter for about 9 years now. We have two rescue dogs who are very skittish. Without "Paws At Home", it would be hard for us to leave overnight. In addition to our two dogs, we also have a mouse, a gecko and hermit crabs. ALL of our pets are in good caring hands when we are away.
Zeke's Family
We have been depending on Tina for awhile now. She is conscientious, treats our dog as if it were hers, takes him out, plays with him, makes sure he has plenty of water and plenty of love in her weekly visits. We simply could not ask for more. It takes a lot for me to trust someone with my dog (child). I trust very few people in this world. I sincerely trust Tina with my dog. Zeke (my dog) absolutely loves her and so looks forward to her visits.

I cannot overstate how happy we are with the wonderful attention and genuine affection Paws At Home have shown to all our animals over the past 6 years. While on her daily walk one day, our usually shy Cocker Spaniel Mimi almost pulled my wife across the street after she saw Tina in front of her house. If we weren't convinced before that our 'kids' were in good hands, we certainly were after that. Tina has been extremely flexible and cooperative in meeting our short-notice needs for their help, and she always makes us feel comfortable that they are well able to handle any situation that might arise.
