I usually don't write reviews that are so scathing, but this placed deserved a ZERO stars. We were told that all regular appointments were booked out until June, but if we paid extra to get our dog immediately we could pay extra and have his case be handled on an emergency basis. Were were told in advance that the wait time to see a doctor on Friday was 1.5 to 2.0 hours since they only had one doctor. So, we get there at 8.30 and we're again told again there is only one doctor and it'd be 1.5 to 2.0 hours.

That's what we expected so we were fine with that. We waited, and waited, and waited until we were tired of waiting (about 3.5 hours). We went to the front desk and let them know how long we'd been waiting. We'll, their excuse was that there was only one doctor on Fridays, to which I told them that I was aware of that (wouldn't let them use as an excuse since I was told this aside from the wait time).

I pretty much told them that their excuses were really not valid. I was finally told that it usually takes between 4 and 6 hours to be seen on an emergency! And usually longer. What a crock! I cancelled and left. I will NEVER go back there again for any reason whatsoever. This is supposed an organized organization, laughable. As I was leaving, they recommended other places. If you're turning people away because you can't handle your customers and potential customers, it's only because you can't manage your business.

As I am a IHSS Provider, one of my clients had an emergency with her cat that entailed her cat throwing up blood, so I took my clien and her kitty to the SPCA Emergency and they said they couldn't help as they only had one doctor available and there were other clients ahead of us. So they sent us to 600 Alabama Street and they checked out the Kitty and gave her a diagnosis of being stable. Nothing serious.

From the receptionist to the veterinarian, everyone was friendly and took time to listen to your situation. Even though the waiting room was busy, when you met with any of the staff they never rushed you and made you important. Making sure you understood the tests, results, possibilities and diagnosis. Dr Wesley Leung was fantastic and his vet tech made my cat and I feel as stress free as possible. Thank you to all the staff, you bring value to the SPCA and it's clients.

People were very friendly as we just wanted to look at the dogs without filling out paperwork. It was clean and about 10-13 dogs.

We adopted our pet and right after we discovered she had to be quarantined for more than a month because she hadn't been properly examined and healthy as SPCA said. Recently, we have been asking a visit to get a much needed certificate to travel after our cat being their patient for 3 years and they have been telling us 'we will call you back' for like 10 times and of course never did.

They made us wait weeks and so long that now we have difficulties to find a new vet in order to be able to travel because no vet seems to be taking new patients at this point in the city. SPCA finally after many calls told us to call another hospital where they told us we should go with SPCA considering it has been where we adopted and took our cat all along. Very unprofessional overall.

This place only cares about money! AVOID GOING HERE! My dog passed a few months ago and they still have the audacity to call me to say I have a balance on my account for a no show appointment that I wasn't even aware of. My dog is literally dead and they still continue to call for a $200 no show appointment from months ago. This is ridiculous! Let my dog Rest In Peace. Never bringing any other of my pets here again! If I could give zero stars I would give them 0

To start off, they helped us when they didn't have to, and we slept in our car outside the place over night to make sure we didn't miss our next day appointment. We were from out of state and had no money. Zoey had 3 teeth fall out of her mouth, she was a 12 year old Maltese. She just passed a few months ago, but these people helped us have the next 3 years with her before she did pass. We thank you guys so much for giving her little mouth surgery. And god bless you Zoey

I highly recommend the SPCA for your pets! This is for the spay/neuter clinic, I walked in for my appointment nervous not knowing that it was first come first serve for appointments. I arrived a little late for the 8am check in. After arriving at 8:15am I waited around an hour, when I finally got my number called I was thoroughly explained everything and was asked if bubbles vet history/ vaccinations up to date.

The nurses answered every question I had and gave me peace of mind and after that I was told to come back at 5pm for pickup. I picked up bubbles 30 mins late and there was no issues at all everything went smoothly! She was very well cared for and I was thoroughly explained her medication requirements following the surgery! I'd like to thank Dr. Darien Rodriguez for taking care of bubbles today and all the vet techs at this location for their outstanding work!

2021: I adopted my kitten (see photos of her here) here 7 years ago. She had an ailment that the vet. here took care of well. She's been a wonderful pet! Always get your pets at adoption centers like the SFSPCA. Save a life or 2.
