Services
South Mesquite Veterinary Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories. We also work closely with local practices when special diagnostic procedures are required.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Many people have questions about various aspects of their pet's surgery, and we hope this information will help. It also explains the decisions you will need to make before your pet's upcoming surgery. Today's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at South Mesquite Veterinary Hospital, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
To allow ample time for all patients and scheduled surgical procedures, we operate primarily by appointment. Emergency cases shall always receive top priority, which is why occasional appointment delay is inevitable. Please realize that we make a sincere attempt to see each client on time. For your convenience, drop-off' appointments are available for pets we have seen before. A 'drop off' means you could bring your pet at the time that works best for you and leave him/her with us for a couple of hours.

Absolutely fantastic! Took my puppy to a different vet once a week for an entire month. One stop here and my puppy was back himself in matter of days! BIG THANKS

Decent vet service, TERRIBLE BOARDING. Starving, covered in urine and injuries. Picked up my pets from boarding for 4 days, barely any of their food was gone. not even enough to fill their bowls once. (And yes I realize dogs sometimes dont eat much while boarded but I've boarded them many times before and NEVER had an issue.) When I picked them up, one of my dogs was so soaked in his own urine his fur was stained yellow and he smelled to high heaven.

Poor thing has never been excited for a bath but he went right to the tub when we got him home. He had lesions on his legs and toes and ate so much after being cleaned he went into a food coma. His brand new customized collar is soaked in urine and I'll probably have to get a new one. Literal neglect. Not worth it. Find yourself a place that doesnt just lock up your pets and only takes them outside ONLY twice a day. Never again.

This is the best veterinarian I've ever had. Hands down. They have diagnosed illnesses that my dogs have had that other vets bypassed. Mark is one of my favorite people because he comes out and speaks with you honestly and with compassion. Even though there are about 12 veterinarians closer, I will still go the 20 miles to him.

Very professional staff. I didn't have a appt but my puppy was needing attention asap and the doctor took time out of his busy day to make room for a ppp up. They were very informative and affordable. Will be going back in 3 weeks!

After my family has used this office for all of our pets over the last 2 decades, my dog who has a small infected wound needed to be seen as soon as possible for antibiotics. Obviously not a routine checkup, but it happens. When my husband called, the front office woman told him he needed to schedule a normal appointment but there was nothing available for over 2 weeks and she's "not allowed" to offer any advice for cleaning it or anything.

When he pressed further she just said that there was nothing the office could do for weeks and if we really needed care we would take him to an emergency vet. I have never had this problem at this office and have made appointments to be seen quickly before for minor problems so for her to claim they don't offer that makes no sense. What is the point of being a vet if you only do routine checkups when the dog is in full health?

My dog is not having an emergency he just needed a small wound cleaned and an antibiotic to prevent any further illness. Really terrible that they have declined in customer service so much in the last year. If your pet is not feeling well or gets injured go anywhere else. The office staff doesn't care. We will never return.

They were fantastic. They took time with us and helped us through a very difficult time with our family dog of 14 years. Jinxy is now running free with all her friends in no more pain. She has crossed over that Rainbow Bridge. Sad tears and happy tears. The staff was so understanding.

For some reason the veterinarian was speaking to my friend who drove me and my Sammy instead of me. Sammy is my dog. I was the one asking questions and holding my baby boy. I'm not sure why he was ignoring me and focusing on my friend but that's what happened. I have been bringing my fur babies here for years and this has never happened before. I didn't recognize this guy so maybe he is new and doesn't understand he should speak to the pet owner instead of their ride. Anyway, this year was definitely different from years past because of the pandemic.

When we arrived, the secretary came outside and told us we could not come in until the pet owners who were currently there had exited the building. Once they left we went inside and my Sammy was seen right away. This year I was not allowed to go back with Sammy. One of the workers came to the lobby to take him. In a way I understand but my heart broke because Sammy was so scared he was shaking.

He didn't understand why I was handing him over to a stranger and not going with him. It was OK though. I knew my baby boy would be alright. After a few minutes he was happily running back to the lobby - Vet in tow lol As I said earlier; The vet addressed my friend instead of me. He told her the details of the appointment and answered my questions while looking and speaking directly to my friend.

I suppose her beauty was so mesmerizing he zeroed in on her and couldn't bear to break his gaze upon her face lol The appointment cost $286.00. I was worried I would be $40.00 short so I asked if I could pay $240.00 and give them my card number to be charged Wednesday when I knew I would be paid again. The lady promptly said NO directed me to apply for "Care Credit". I wasn't going to do that and fortunately my friend covered the $46.00 so all was good and well

Even though we had to visit the hospital for the heartbreaking moment our 16 yr old girl had to be out to sleep, the Doctor and nurse were kind and caring. They did not rush us through the process. They allowed us time both before and after the event to spend time with her. While this is not what any of us want to do with our 4 legged children, the staff were able to make us feel comfortable with our decision. Thank you to all at the hospital today who allowed Gracie dignity in her last moment and allowing us to be by her side.

Maybe it's the Covid restrictions and lack of "personal touch", but I was HIGHLY disappointed with the level of service received. My dog had surgery and it was no communication! I had to follow up doe the post opp date and time. On top of that, I was told my dogs teeth absolutely needed to be cleaned. When picking him up the tech says "his teeth were super easy, no build up or tarter issues". So clearly the "need" was more for their pocket and not my dog. I've used this office since 2008, but won't be back.

Several of our pets go to this clinic. Multiple times our pets have needed appointments when they have been sick and we are told they are 5-7 days out. We are referred to an emergency clinic. Those clinics charge rediculous amounts of money for their services. I find it odd that your pet is ill and they can't work you in that day or even the next when your animal is a patient there. I have never had this experience at any other vet we have ever gone to. And the person who answers the phone is far from friendly or helpful. I am extremely disappointed.
