Rachel is wonderful with our 2 dogs. We never kenneled them and had some reservations about leaving them; but, when we returned from our trip, they were 2 happy campers. We called twice in 5 days to check on them and Rachel assured us they were doing well. This made our trip less stressful! Now I am happy that we have a dependable and kind person watching after our "furbabies".

Was told that if we pick up our dogs before 12 we would not be charged another day. Showed up at 11:20 and still got charged another day. We asked why and the time changed to 11:00 am pick up time.

We started boarding here in 2015 with our Sheltie. We tried several other local kennels (basically all of them) and the only one that seemed to get it right was Southwind. From their friendly customer service to their spotless runs and property, these folks are true professionals. They have competitive prices and actually take the time to take care of your pet.

They live on the property as well so it is manned 24/7 which is another huge plus. I wouldn't waste my time going anywhere else. P.S. Ivy went to school with me and she was nuts then and is nuts now so I would take her reviews of any business with a grain of salt. She has been well known to try to slander businesses in order to try and get free stuff and discounts. It turns my stomach inside out to watch her do this to such a fine local business with great people running it. Thanks

I called on August 22nd, spent 20 minutes on the phone making an appointment because I was placed on hold several times. Finally my appointment was set. I was told to call 2 days ahead of time which would be September 13th to make sure they were not a capacity but the chances were very unlikely. It did not seem this time of year they would be a capacity.

I called today September 13th and was told I would need to pay a 4 day minimum. I asked why I would pay for 4 days when I am going away for two days and was told because she cannot lose out on the money - showing no consideration for my plans that I booked several weeks ago. Apparently this kennel should only accept appointments for 4 days or more but are greedy and would rather inconvenience the customer for a chance at a 2 day appointment if a convenience and advantage to them - if they are not at capacity - so they can make money regardless if it inconveniences or price gouges the customer. Well, now I have to call around for a new kennel 2 days before I go away, I really wish I went with someone different on August 22nd.

And Southwind Kennel, I hope you lose money ~ potential customers bc of this review!********************After this review was posted, Carl Burns harassed and stalked me, he crossed so many lines, I'm glad I found a different kennel that doesn't price gouge and has business ethics & etiquette.

I am so glad to have an opportunity to share a review about Southwind Kennels and Ginger Burns. Her name and establishment were given to us by our vet and after speaking with Ginger I immediately felt comfortable with her and admired how seriously she took the job of placing her golden puppies. She interviewed us extensively and had very high standards.

I really felt like I had to do my research on puppy care in order to make her feel comfortable with me! As stated in the previous review Ginger matches each puppy with the prospective family and when we adopted our little girl (daughter of Southwind's Smokin' Logan) we were given so much information about our puppy's personality type (adverse to loud noises, very comfortable with touch, shied away from quick movements) all of which proved true and were so helpful to know when we started puppy training.

When visiting the puppies at 5 weeks we got a true sense of how the dogs at Southwind are treated like family (and have a kennel that rivals ANY I have ever seen). If only we didn't live hours away, I would not have hesitated leaving our "daughter" there. and this literally ruined the chances of any other kennel since once I saw Southwind, the others truly could not compare.

One of the most important points that I want to make is that Ginger cares about her puppies and their adoptive families. She readily kept in touch with me over the years and if I ever had a question or concern about our dog she gave informative answers and provided resources that could help. As far as our Golden is concerned, she has made a Golden-lover out of every person she has met.

We are literally stopped on the streets when we take her for a walk so people can comment on her beautiful coat (a Southwind trademark), her sweet disposition, and how affectionate she is. She is the sweetheart of the neighborhood! You will not be able to find better Goldens than the ones at Southwind or find a breeder with more knowledge and a bigger heart. You will not go wrong with your choice of Southwind Kennel for any of the services they provide.
