Services
SOTC offers classes in basic obedience as well as competition obedience, conformation handling, rally, freestyle, and flyball. Classes are held at 6392 Deere Road. The format is group classes (6 to 8 students), not private lessons. Classes generally run for 8 weeks and are offered four times a year (starting in March, June, September, and January), with Puppy classes starting more frequently as needed.
Please don't try to call or send mail to the Deere Road facility. There is no mail delivery at the building, no monitored phone line, and no receptionist. The building is open only for scheduled events (check our Calendar). You are welcome to stop by during meetings or classes, but that's not a good way to get a message to us.
From the Thruway: Take Exit 35. At Carrier Circle, take 2nd exit onto Rt. 298 W. Turn left onto Deere Rd. (4th building on left). From N. Midler: Turn right onto Court Street Rd., then left onto Deere Rd. (2nd building on right). If you use the driveway to the left of the building, you may park on either side of the driveway.
The first requirement demonstrates your interest in training. Candidates must either have earned an obedience or agility title, or have completed a training class with us. Why does it take so long? We want to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. The Club cannot function without members who can devote time to us by working at our trials and other events, by teaching or doing administrative work, or by attending General Membership meetings to vote on Club business.Eligibility to earn points (via teaching or other activities), which may be used for classes.

Excellent training facility for dog enthusiasts! Multiple training rings with moveable kennel space outside the rings. Equipment for practicing obedience, rally, agility, or flyball is available. The volunteer instructors are very knowledgeable and willing to share their experience and skills with anyone.

I have to disagree with Kate, I have been through their puppy, pre basic, and basic classes. There were many mixed breeds and in fact the AKC now allows mixed breeds to compete in AKC trials. In my puppy class someone brought in a Pitt mix. The puppy came in sort of wound up so three of the owners said they didn't want him off lead to socialize. The instructor explained that was a major part of the class and she and her assistant would step in if there were issues.

The pups were let loose and the pit mix was the star of the class! The three owners were very apologetic to the owner and were very happy the instructor took control as was the owner of the pit. I think the very large number of instructors there is a huge advantage to every student. They teach Agility, Obedience, and something called Rally. I found that if my instructor didn't know the answer to anything they said they would ck with the others and get back which they did. Last, their facility is huge, very clean, with all the best kept equipment. My pup can't wait to get into their agility ring he gets so excited when he watches the other dogs having so much fun.

Good trainers, it takes time and work but we did see progress with our dogs. The class motivates you to do your homework with the dog.
