We firmly believe that training should be a fun, low-stress experience for all involved (humans & pets), and we focus on methods rooted in positivity. We strive to find what motivates our pets (food, praise, petting, play, etc), and then we give them access to those things when they offer "good" behaviors.
We partner with four locations in the Greater Madison Area to offer group classes that are convenient no matter where you are! Have a busy schedule? Want to have the whole family involved in training? Have a dog who is having behavioral issues that may not be suitable for a group class environment?

I have taken both my dogs through their classes and it helped not only my dogs but also myself. Classes are small in size, great teachers, and get to know all their attendings. I will be taking any further dogs I have to them.

We love Teacher's Pet Training Academy! We started our eight week old goldendoodle in the Kindergarten class and it gave her a great foundation. Now at ten months old, we just finished Elementary School and have already signed up for the High School class! Every class so far has been high quality and useful. Sarah has been so kind to stay after class and answer any questions we may have. Would definitely recommend!

We adopted our "quarantine puppy" Ziggy at 8 weeks old in April of last year. From the day that we got her, she was very fearful and unsure of new situations and it was extremely challenging to find ways to work on her socialization since everything was basically shut down at the time. The one glimmer of hope - our vet gave us the lead that one training training company in town - Teacher's Pet - was still offering puppy play and learn sessions a few times a week.

Both Sarah and Emma were FANTASTIC at working with Ziggy on growing her confidence, providing helpful tips on what we could work on her with at home and even taking pictures of the sessions! We went on to take puppy kindergarten and recently did a private consult with Sarah is discuss strategies to continue to work with Ziggy. I am very impressed with Sarah's insight and I appreciate that she has taken the time to really get to know Ziggy and our family.

Although we still have a ways to go and we will likely always have some issues with Ziggy's anxiety, I can't image how much worse off we would have been without the early socialization opportunity and training advice we got from Teacher's Pet. Highly recommended!

Teacher's pet has been amazing for my puppy. She has learned so much starting from Sit and Good girl, to facing the world with confidence and love. I will enroll her in First Grade now that she is done with Kindergarten and Play Dates, and I feel certain that she will someday become President of the United States.

I am SO glad our pup, Millie, got to experience Teacher's Pet Play and Learn sessions. When we brought Millie home, she was fearful of all strange dogs and people and would scary-bark and growl at any dog she saw. I contacted Teacher's Pet unsure if she was even appropriate for a group puppy play session. Sarah and Emma went out of their way to work with her and make sure she felt comfortable and safe.

After a few weeks, Millie now loves to play with other dogs and greets new dogs appropriately. We can take her on walks without the anxiety that she's going to go into all-out attack-dog mode at an innocent passerby, and we can confidently visit the dog park knowing she will calmly approach and communicate with other dogs. As an added bonus, after Sarah and Emma's work with the pups, Millie is no longer scared of the vacuum. I would highly recommend Teacher's Pet for dog socialization and training.

Sarah and Emma are fantastic! I was so grateful that they offered Play and Learn classes to help socialize my puppy during the quarantine! My puppy looked forward to this each week! It's obvious that they are both great trainers who truly care about the dogs!

Teacher's Pet rocks! I've taken two classes with Emma so far and plan to take many more for training and enrichment. Emma and Sarah know what they're talking about and use positive reinforcement, so not only does your dog learn but you also strengthen the bond between you and your pup. Class sizes are small and the drop-in option is awesome if you can't commit to a full session. Any owners with specific issues are welcome to stay after class and talk with the trainer, which is a huge bonus. 10/10!

Fantastic! Our dogs now want to get into the car to go to the place where they get all the treats! Which is how you want your dog to feel about school. Emma was very patient with all of us beginners who were new to dog training. She took extra time with us after class to work on a few behavioral issues we were having and pointed us to additional resources. A wonderful introduction to positive dog training!

They have small classes that offer more individualized training opportunities based on which skills your dog needs to work on. Each class has a training sheet that is helpful for at home training. All the instructors are really knowledgeable and friendly. Their classes are at multiple locations throughout the city, so you can find one that is conveniently located. I have tried other training programs in the area for my dog, but I would highly recommend Teacher's Pet Training over any others.

We took "Beginner Doggy School 1" with Sarah Miller. Sarah was a great teacher and really knows her stuff! The after class emailed review of what we did was very helpful as it's good to remind yourself how to work on what we learned. I thought the 45 minute long classes seemed about the right length. It was nice to have a small class size (three dogs) as the other dogs prove to be quite the distraction, but that is a real world element most dogs do take notice of, so that was good.
