Town and Country Humane Society is a non-profit, no time limit shelter serving eastern Nebraska and beyond. We are dedicated to providing a safe and caring living facility for pets in need until a loving home can be found, as well as helpful information for those wishing to re-home or adopt an animal. If you are a pet owner who is requesting to surrender your pet to our shelter, you must submit a request and wait to be contacted by a shelter representative. With the number of animals we take in each year, our shelter has a waiting list.

Because of you, TCHS continues our mission of providing a safe and caring living facility for pets in need until a loving home can be found, as well as helpful information for those wishing to re-home or adopt an animal. Any amount you give can have a sizeable effect on the quality of life for rescue animals.
Amazon Wish List is a gift registry (like a baby/wedding gift registries) for donors who would like to send the animals a gift directly. We have added our most needed and used items to our wish list. Once purchased, Amazon can deliver those items right to our doorstep. The wish list also notates how many gifts we have received so no duplicates occur.
If you are volunteering to fulfil court ordered community service requirements, please DO NOT fill out an application. Only Volunteers aged 18 and over are accepted. Volunteers an assume rewarding roles such as office worker, project work, offsite helper for events and dog counselor. We are currently in need of volunteers who can commit to volunteering on-site, a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Fostering is a very rewarding experience for both the animal and foster family. We are always looking for foster homes for our critters, dogs, and cats who have medical needs or may do better in a non-shelter environment before being adopted.

I found a great kitty to adopt and the staff is so helpful and friendly, I had a very good experience. The location was 20 miles away from where I live, so it was a long drive out there.

So many volunteers who work hard for the betterment of all animals. I've adopted from here, fostered, and met some of the best people.

How does this place get away with putting +30 cats all in a small trailer laying all over in it? I guess it's better then living abandoned but to say the least, I was not impressed. Clean - is also debatable

We went there to look with a friend and my girlfriend who used to volunteer there and had donate upwards of 15,000 dollars and appliances and were met with rudeness from head gal and they started argument and put down a disabled child we had with us, was very disappointed with who and how they are running it now we will not be donating anymore and will spread the word not to ho there. Made us sick so much entitlement and attitude with management!

We adopted our rag doll cat this last month. Her kennel and room were clean and well lit. Boxes clean. Cat trees, space, toys for everyone, high shelves for the observers were not crowded and numerous. Our girl was brushed and attended to to try to socialize. We are most appreciative of the care given by the staff. Thank you for letting us adopt her to be in our family!

We have 3 large(70lb-100lb) dogs and have used several kennels over the year. Town and Country has excellent staff who are always happy to help and answer any question. The facility that the dogs stay in had pretty impressive design and the kennels are more than big enough for the biggest dogs out there or even for a couple 100lb dogs if needed. Also, their kennel areas are the cleanest and best smelling of any boarding house kennels I have ever come across. Prices are much lower than other places we have been too.

Any instructions you leave will be followed to the letter. They have also been known to to take the dogs out and play fetch and what not. They even sent us a couple photos of our dogs playing to help everyone's separation anxiety. They are #1 on my list for boarding and dog health visit.

I just picked up four male rats and are bringing them home! Cassie and Misty were amazing to work with! There was some trial and error in the beginning for me as I am new to having rats but they never made me feel bad or embarrassed. They truly care about making sure you have the right enclosure, toys, bedding, etc! Looking forward to this new adventure, 10/10 recommend! Cassie gave me bedding and hammocks which I truly appreciate!

We adopted our fur baby from here 3 weeks ago! I cannot express how absolutely fantastic town and country is! They took time to make sure we were a good fit for him. You can really tell how much they care

I have adopted 3 dogs from Town and Country and also a rabbit. My heart and home is full of love thanks to the hard work and dedication of the volunteers. Even years after the adoptions I have reached out for help and they have been there for me. What an amazing group of people! I am so thankful for rescues, especially Town and Country!

Adopt, don't shop! I actually saw Town and Country's card on a kennel in Petco. In the kennel was this beautiful cat, Louisianna (yes, 2 "n"s) They had vetted her with kids and dogs, and all her vet care was up to date. She had been waiting in this shelter for TEN months. I called and met Larry at the rescue, applied and had our home visit, and took her home the same week. There are so many great pets that need a home, stop by. Maybe your best friend is there. Mine was.
