Hi! I'm Jill Jones the owner of Upstate Dog Training and Pet Resort. Over 20 years ago I started this business. Prior to that I was working as a rural carrier for the postal service in Greer. In the evenings I trained dogs for friends and friends of my friends, for free, because I just loved doing it.
Our in-kennel training is a quality three week program where your dog stays at our facility during the week and goes home on the weekend. This is our best training program and is what we are known for. We do check-ins on Sunday evening between 4-5 p.m. We schedule pick-ups on Fridays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or if needed Saturday mornings.
Our group classes are a great way for those who need guidance but wish to train on their own at home. Classes are held once a week for four weeks and last for one hour each week. During the rest of the week when not in class owners practice and work with their dogs to prepare for the next session. Dogs must be at least four months to enroll. As it is the owners responsiblity to put the extra time in with their dog this training is not guaranteed.
We offer several playtime options for your pet during their stay. Playtime can be with other dogs of same size and personality. We also have playtime with a staff member if your pet is not comfortable with other animals. Our pet resort features climate controlled indoor/outdoor kennels. All kennel pricing includes a dog bed, blanket, toys, two trips out to the yard, and lots of love. We ask that you provide the food (bagged up per day), any medications (in a pill box or container) that need to be administered.

Great experience, board and train really helped to work on leash pulling and jumping behaviors of my somewhat strong willed pup. (Of course they reinforced all the other commands as well- she is great at stay with distractions now) They remain available for support and assistance. My dog developed a minor health issue, no fault of theirs but they stayed on top of it and made sure she received the proper care.

They truly care about dogs and it shows, I don't live local but will drive the extra distance for doggie day care and boarding to make sure my dog is with people who love what they do.

What an incredible place! We took our 6 month old Bernedoodle (Maggie) for obedience training here. She was doing well with at-home training, but we were having challenges with over-excited jumping, air-biting, and consistently obeying commands and really needed a professional to take her to the next level. Upstate Dog Training was beyond exceptional.

Within the first week, Maggie stopped excited jumping and showed immediate improvement in listening to commands. By week 3, Maggie was like an entirely different dog. I would totally recommend Upstate Dog Training for any breed of dog. They do incredible work and are without question the definitive experts.

Bella's trainer is awesome. Not sure how to spell Rene but she is the best. Helped show Bella how to be a great and calm girl. Now. I would tell anyone that needs help with their dog to see them. Ask for Rene. She get 6 stars in my book

I don't have enough wonderful things to say about Upstate Dog Training. I take both my babies there for their boarding and grooming, I've done doggy day care a few times, and most recently took my youngest for Obedience school (and will be going back for the advanced training). Everyone there is so nice and willing to help and answer all your questions.

The trainer we had was an not only very good but an absolute doll and helped my Bennett so much with his training. They know who you and your doggies are when you come and they treat them so well while they are there. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for boarding, grooming, day care or training. You will be very happy I promise!

This place has been a miracle in our life! Our young dog was out of control- just hyper and wild. We took her there for training and she came back a totally different dog! My husband literally asked what drugs they had her on! She was so calm and obedient. We take her there for boarding when we go on vacation now too and she always has so much fun!

Extremely pleased with the friendly service I received from Upstate dog training and Pet Resort. I had scheduled my dog with another local resort to leave my dog while on vacation. They cancelled me at the last minute. I immediately called Upstate and they told me not to worry and to bring my dog right over. Upon returning to pick her up, she was happy, bathed, and obviously well taken care of. I highly recommend Upstate for all your boarding/ grooming needs.

Very professional staff and excellent experience boarding our lab for 2 weeks! Beautiful grooming job when when I picked our doggie up! Only suggestion is that even touching base once with a photo or update of how things were going would have been so appreciated. I had to call twice to check on how she was doing. Overall, excellent experience!

I adopted a new puppy in the summer and quickly realized we forgot how to handle a puppy. Our other 2 dogs are 11+ so kinda lazy easy going. I wanted my kids to grow up with a dog. A co worker recommended upstate since she had taken her 4 Great Dane pups. I called and was able to set up our puppy for training at the perfect age (6 months). We missed her so much while she was in training but even after the 1st week we could tell a major improvement.

By week 2 I felt like we had a different puppy. Week 3 we were super impressed with her new skills and he new behavior. She was so much more gentle with our toddler who loves to chase and tackle her. She also listened to us so much better and even has had no accidents as far as potty training since she's been home. Highly recommend upstate Dig training

In the beginning we loved Upstate Dog Training. Our Doberman, Kaiser was a frequent visitor there. We felt comfortable leaving him at 4 months old for training and were pleased with the results. They always had room for him, for last minute stays as well. The problem was that in July 2020, I picked him up and walked him out to the car, after a week long stay.

I noticed him limping significantly, got him loaded up, then went back in to inquire if he had gotten hurt. No one saw ANYTHING. They acted like he must have gotten hurt playing, but again, no one knew how he got hurt. I was upset that this wasn't mentioned to me at pickup (they just handed him over and went on to gather up other pups). Now, we are thousands of dollars out of pocket in vet bills and medicines.

The Dr's had conflicting opinions at first, mostly due to none of us knowing exactly how he got hurt at boarding. Now he is completely paralyzed and scheduled to be put down the Monday after Christmas. I know that the Dr controversy was not Upstate's fault, but I would NEVER take another dog there, as they clearly were not watching the dogs outside to even see how he was injured.

That information would have helped with an early diagnosis of his back injury and possible saved this wonderful 4 year old Doberman from needing to be put to sleep. I caution you to take your dogs there, especially if they will be signed up for outside play.

I have never left a review online until my second poor experience with their boarding services. The first time my French Bulldog ripped his toe nail off, which I was never notified until I asked what happened to him. He also had a large cut on his neck as if he was pulled around by his neck or got into a dog fight. I called and they said they had no idea where it came from.

They both came back very sick as well (sneezing up blood), which ended up in a vet bill. I was reassured these things would never happen again; however, the second time was actually worse. I picked up my dogs and they seemed extremely lethargic, no appetite, and sneezing yet again. The day I got them back my Saint Bernard began resting his paw on his face in pain.

I immediately checked out the area to find oozing fluid, blood, multiple bite marks, and swelling all over his face. I am not sure how a facility would not call their owner immediately with this type of injury or let alone allow him to continue to play with other dogs after getting his face attacked. I pray they actually let the other owner know in case their dog was injured as well.

I will never send my dogs back to a place who clearly doesn't watch the dogs as they play, does not clean the dogs wounds leading to a clear infection, and does not immediately notify their owners of multiple incidents in a row. I should've trusted my gut the first time when they didn't have any idea why my dog was clearly injured.
