Urban Canine Doggy Day Spa is a unique grooming facility and self-wash salon for dogs. Our spa is cute, creative, and clean. Our groomers have over 50 years combined experience and can accommodate any and all breed standard cuts and variations of cuts and styles. If your pet does not require a haircut, we offer professional grade shampoo, brushing, de shed and blow-dry of ANY dog, for a substantial improvement in shine, smell and feel. Our anti-shed treatment works wonders on any heavy shedding dog.
Urban Canine staffs only true animal lovers for dog walking, and we hire only the most qualified, trustworthy and responsible candidates. Many precautionary steps are taken before anyone is hired, including verified references; background checks, one-on-one interviews, and doggie-interaction skills testing.
Need a great dog washing station? We have two fully equipped self-wash dog washing stations for our Chicago, Bucktown and Wicker Park area customers. We all love our dogs, but a wash at home means clogged drains, dirty tubs & bathrooms, and mounds of laundry. Do the dirty work at Urban Canine by using our self service wash.
Urban Canine has been in the Chicago Dog walking business for nearly 25 years, and over that time, we've learned a few things about what customers like and don't like in a dog walker and dog walking company. This place is awesome, they do a great job on grooming. I take my little Louis here and they always leave him looking his best. Tony and his staff are always courteous, friendly and most of all professional. I can't see myself taking Louis anywhere else, I highly recommend them for your pets grooming needs. We took our new rescue, Bread, to Urban Canine for the first time today, and he looks and smells amazing! He was all smiles when I picked him up after his grooming. Staff was kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable, and the service was very reasonable priced. They even put a cute little bandana on him! We're planning to come back every month. I took my Aussiedoodle puppy to Urban Canine to be groomed and they did a great job! Tony was very friendly and communicative. My dog had some mats, so they had to cut his hair shorter than I'd asked. Unlike some places, they called to let me know first, which I really appreciated and the cut still looked great. My dog and I both left happy! I'll definitely be returning to UC for future grooms.

Urban Canine treated my doodle Baxter like their own! 10/10 experience. He developed hematoma's on his ears from excess matting (my fault - should've been groomed sooner), and they were nice enough to loan me a cover for his ears so he wouldn't shake them as much (for free!). They groomed him amazingly and quick. I am so impressed by their customer service and how well they took care of Baxter. They were thorough with updates and did a wonderful job. Baxter will be coming back again and again! We love you Urban Canine!

Took our puppy for 2 haircuts there. First time she came out looking a little weird, but understandable for a pups first cut. Second time she was almost entirely shaved - my cavapoo now looks like a greyhound. The employee also said she "could use some obedience training because she was difficult when cutting around her face". Mind you she is 6.5 months old and had leg surgery which prevented her from doing anything for 2 months.
Please keep your idiotic opinions to yourself. You're a dog groomer not a dog whisperer, do what we pay you to do. Or in our case, see ya never cuz we're not paying you to do anything again!

Hi, super anxious dog mom here! Honey does not let me cut her nails let alone get to her teeth. (She's a nipper) She always runs away when it's bath time. I was so nervous about dropping her off somewhere and this was her first time ever going to the groomers, but Tyler was so reassuring and when I picked her up she looked like she wanted to stay longer lol and she loves her new bandana. 10/10 experience.

I'm not really sure what happened when I brought my dog here today. Every part of him looks great but I get so sad when I look at his face. I was really impressed with the customer service until I saw my pup. No one said anything about it to me when I went to pick him up. I don't think we'll be going back :

Our pup had a total makeover and we loved it! I was asked many questions at check in to make sure they knew what I wanted, and they were pretty quick, too! We are completely satisfied. Our last groomer up north left a lot to be desired but UC did a wonderful job! We feel like we have a new terrier dog!

Be warned.if something happens to your dog at this dog wash, the owner takes NO responsibility for their mistakes! If you have ANY concerns, walk away. I gave them the benefit of the doubt the 1st time they dropped my 100lb. dog and left him limping. They DID admit the mistake at the time. This time, my 2nd dog-walked in for grooming completely healthy and walked out with a limp.
See a trend? I wonder whose fault that is? Urban Canine denied responsibility- and their mistake cost me a $5000 knee surgery. First time, you get a bi because I put my trust in you and you admitted the problem. Second time, you get a straight up, honest review. I have only 1 more word for this avoidable situation. Karma.

I would avoid this place. They will not take care of your pet and will assume no responsibility should anything happen. Do not make the same mistake we did and assume that your dog will be well cared for while under their "supervision". Our over-priced grooming appointment has now turned into a hefty Orthopedic surgery bill and possible long term rehab for our pet - who may never be the same again - and Urban Canine could care less. Save yourself the pain, frustration, and heartbreak. Go somewhere else!

This review is long over due- Tony & Urban Canine are great. After getting my dogs I developed allergies to their dander- obviously getting rid of my fur-babies wasnt an option. Knowing my situation, Tony and his staff go above and beyond to keep the fur/dander in check. I had been to other places in the neighborhood who did just ok and almost every time something was skipped, ears weren't cleaned 1 time, nails weren't done another. Urban Canine is spot on every time.

We would bring our 2 dachshunds here for grooming/bathing over 4 years, until we moved away from Chicago last year. Our dogs have NEVER been excited to go to the groomer until we found Urban Canine! They would both run happily to the back, and we'd stand in the lobby like, "aren't you going to say bye to us?" We highly recommend Urban Canine, they always knew how to groom our long-haired dachshunds, and they always came back smelling great! (Also, they would get a cool Cubs bandana!) We wish we could find a quality groomer like UC in our new city.

Used UC for the first time last week to get our new rescue dog groomed for the first time. Called as soon as they opened and they were very accommodating and got us in right away. We were nervous due to this being our rescue's first grooming experience but all concerns were addressed with Tony as soon as we showed up. There were no issues and our dog looks great. Whole thing took couple hours. We will definitely be back.

If you want to give your dog a bath and not destroy your bathroom, this is the place. The management team is helpful and super friendly. I like the DIY version and they have shampoos, conditioners, nice towels, and large basins. We will come back again and again. This is a great place, affordable and convenient!

Nope. Never again. Avoid it. They groomed the dog, which is pretty easy considering he was getting shaved (he was matted, our fault). But I paid them money because I thought they would be more careful, unfortunately they weren't. The dog promptly got an ear infection because they did not dry out his ears. So I had to take him to the vet after as well.
Budget for that if you are taking your pet here. The owner or whoever works the desk tried to spin it as it is normal for the dog to get some pain in the ear or bleeding, completely denying it was an infection. The vet didn't think it was normal for the dogs to get bleeding in ear after grooming, and he sure agreed it was an infection.

We just got our dog from there, while she was bleeding around the nails. They didn't even notice until later we found blood on our carpet. We took her back here and they tried fixing it. Seeing our dog cry like that was quite excoriating and sad. She was in a lot of pain and didn't know why we are forcing her down to keep working on the bleeding nails. That's my two cents.

Called Friday for a full groom and got an appointment for the next morning. Said my shih tzu would be done in 2 hours but I expected it to take longer because groomers always tell me 3-4, in addition to the fact that this was our first time here. Lo and behold I got a call 1.5 hours later and my little guy is the most handsome he's ever been.
I don't like cutting his hair because he's so much cuter with long hair but at a certain point brushing him out becomes a nightmare. About the same price as anywhere else I've gone but this will be our new groomer :
