Services
Westside Animal Hospital is a well-established, full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and dental care. Furthermore, we utilize a carbon dioxide surgical laser to minimize pain, bleeding and swelling. We provide a broad spectrum of diagnostic procedures through in-house testing and the use of external laboratories.
If this is an emergency, or your pet is in pain or injured, or you need an appointment today please call our office. We will schedule your appointment with the doctor that has seen your pet in the past unless you select the doctor you would like your pet to see.
Our onsite pharmacy carries a wide array of preventative medicines that will protect your pet from fleas, ticks, and heartworm, as well as intestinal parasites. And, unlike large online retailers, we can guarantee that all the products we sell are safe and effective. Please call (207) 829-4090 24 hours in advance for prescription refill requests and prescription diets (which can take up to 1 week).
I grew up in North Yarmouth and went to Greely High School. I went to undergrad at the University of Maine, Orono, and then veterinary school in Minnesota. After graduation, I completed a rotating internship in Massachusetts (New England Animal Medical Center). I stayed on as a staff veterinarian in the ER/ICU after completion and helped mentor other interns.

I came in as a new client with a list of issues I wanted checked on my dog, and she was due for a vaccine and heartworm test. Dr. Ferrell and the vet techs were so incredibly patient with me, my dog, and all of my questions. Pup received perhaps the most thorough exam she's ever had and Dr. Ferrell took time to discuss everything from flea and tick prevention, options to manage arthritis and stiffness in my aging dog, and when to worry about lumps.

I was bracing myself for sticker shock when I checked out, and my reaction was more like, "that's it?" Great veterinary care at a reasonable price. Thanks for taking such good care of us.

Truly one of the best vets around. Extremely thoughtfu and caring staff. They make you feel comfortable, understood, and display an enormous amount of empathy. The care they give your pets is amazing, the staff is incredible. They remember details about each pet, make them feel safe and provide the highest level of care. I cannot say enough nice things about the Westside, would recommend to anyone looking for a new vet.

Westside has a top notch medical team combined with friendly staff that are sure to help you with any and all your pets needs. The dog daycare service is second to none and has enriched the life of my pup, excited to try out the new training services as well!

I had my first visit with Westside Animal Hosptial today with my 3 cats for routine yearly check-ups. We met with Dr. Ferrell who was an absolute delight to work with! She was friendly, personable, kind, knowledgeable, and worked so well with all three of my kitties. Not only was Dr. Ferrell wonderful, but so were all the staff members. Everyone was warm, inviting, helpful, and displayed a true love of animals and professionalism. Additionally, the office and rooms were very clean, neat, orderly, and well kept.

We had a truly spectacular experience and I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fantastic vet and acquaitning themselves with some great folks to boot! Thank you Westside Animal Hospital for providing such a high level of care and for being such kind people; we truly appreciate everything!

Our rescue pup Lyra is very sweet but nervous around new people and situations. Dr. Copp and the entire Westside team were patient and kind to her and by the end of the appointment Lyra had a new group of friends! Dr. Copp was also very knowledgeable and current with her medicine. We had previously seen Dr. Perkins before he retired, who was also very kind to Lyra and our previous dog Henley, who unfortunately passed last year. Dr. Perkins helped us say goodbye to our beloved friend of 14 years. We highly recommend Westside Animal Hospital.

I have been taking my animals to Chip no matter where I was living for years. Unfortunately, now that he is gone, this practice is awful. I was promised a call as a follow-up from blood work on my sick dog on a Friday. When nobody called me I decided to call them. I was told the vet had finished up with their last patient and that I was on a call list for before 6pm.

At 5:50pm. I called back to learn that the vet had gone home for the day and the other vet would call me on Saturday. Meanwhile. I still have a sick dog. Saturday I did receive a call and my dog had an infection. They were closing for the day so the vet told me where they would leave the medication outside for me to pick up so that my dog wouldn't have to suffer until Monday.

I made the trip over there.only to find that they had forgot to leave the medication outside. I left them a voicemail letting them know I would be finding another practice to take my dog to. When Monday came, I called about getting the medication picked up and NOBODY even addressed their mistake or my voicemail.and I could sense an attitude with the person on the phone. Really?

A vet is no different than a pediatrician.and while everyone makes mistakes (although two in two days is unreasonable when you have a sick dog).taking ownership would've gone a long way!
