Zamzows The weeknights leading up to the Fourth of July are full of neighborhood firework displays. During these weeks, our local humane societies often get twice as many reports of lost and missing pets. Keeping this statistic in mind, here are some ways to keep your pet safe while providing anxiety relief. The Idaho wilderness is full of beautiful and remote locations to visit. From a short backpacking hike to a quick jaunt in the hills, there are hundreds of trailheads to enjoy. Having your best four-legged friend come along seems like no brainer.
Services
Residents of the Treasure Valley have long known Zamzows as the expert garden and pet supply store, but few know its rich history. Founded in 1933, it all started with a train stop gone wrong, when brothers August and Carl Zamzow stowed away on a train going from Minnesota to California. When the train stopped in Meridian, August hopped off to get some lunch for them, but before he could jump back on, the train took off.
In the lawn aisle, you'll find everything you need to grow a healthy, bug-free, disease-free lawn. Zamzows makes lawn care easy, with a 5-step lawn program designed specifically for the Treasure Valley area. By following this program, your lawn and soil will get the balanced diet they need to grow strong and healthy for years.
Here in the weed control aisle, you'll find everything you need to prevent and control the weeds invading your lawn. We're here to help you select the most effective products to stop unwanted plants from growing in your lawn.
Select Zamzows locations near you are equipped to help you with your bulk soil, compost, gravel, and landscape bark needs. Was just charged $18 for a single baby rat to feed my snake. They obviously charged me wrong purposely cause the other zamzows one is 10 max. Other times they just dont have them

Local only They do not have name brand food here. We came here for dog food after a pooch party cause a coupon was with it. Thought we would find a new place to buy bule Buffalo. NOPE drove out of the way for nothing. Not looking forward to changing dog food for a temporary time. That would be a terrible mess

I called and was advised that yes they require masks, due to the pandemic. I felt like it may be okay to go in, as we are immune compromised. We went to the store today just after 4pm. Although they have a sign, customers were freely going in and out of the store without a face mask. Do to this you lost an annual customer, we were there to buy the annual lawn care programs and some other supplies. We will never shop there again.

I have nothing but great things to say about this location. It is a little smaller but every time I've been in here I've been helped by very helpful staff and have always found what I needed. They answer all my lack of knowledge about all things yard related questions with great patience and always have good information/advice/tips. 7/28/19- Just had to come back to say Zamzows and the staff here are still awesome!

I am not a fan of yard work and I know when I leave here that I have not fun things in store for me at home, but I always feels good about yardwork for about 5 mins when I leave here! Thanks for all the help and also for the dog treats!

Clean, well organized store, and very helpful staff. I was greeted immediately, led to the products I needed, and all my questions answered. With their help I was in and out with what I needed in just a couple of minutes.

Great local store. Very clean and has everything you need. The store manager Matt was very helpful and quickly took care of an issue with some of the Zamzows product we have used for years. Highly recommended!

Very nice and new store. Items are easy to locate and sales staff are helpful but not pushy. With all the housing development in this area of Ada County, this store will be busy!

Wish it was better but due to the size, they just can't stock much. Very limited products compared to other locations. I find myself driving to other locations because I feel like I can never find what I want at this one. Great for picking up lawn program though.

Super friendly and helpful staff, adorable (and less overwhelming) location, and great products. I went on opening weekend, and the staff was phenomenal, and I've been pleased with the compost starter, foundations, and magic mineral mix.

Zamzow's is the only place in Boise to get small town service with big city selection and top quality pet supplies. Whenever I come in the employees are always friendly and extremely helpful and have invested their time and effort in my pup's health and longevity. They truly care about their customers and their satisfaction guarantee policy on pet food has made me a loyal Zamzow's customer for life.

The BEST local supplier of garden and lawn supplies. I have been coming here for years and honestly the service is unparalleled. Skip those big box retailers. Zamzows will give you better service, better advice, and a personalized approach that is far superior to anywhere else.

The new manager takes such good care of the animals in the back, I'm impressed. It used to be depressing to see their neglected animals.

I walked into Zamzows on Federal Way today at about 11:15 on Oct. 2nd. I had a boxer and a havanese on leashes. I was looking for winter dog coats. I walked in.no greeting even though I was the only customer and there were 3 people behind the counter. I walked up and down the pet aisles 3 times and nobody at the small check out area even acknowledged that I was there. Finally, after my 3rd pass by them, I asked where the dog coats were.

They were on the opposite side of the store hidden behind another cash register station. So, here I am with 2 dogs who never are on leashes, trying to get dog coats on them when I glance over to the cashier station and the same 3 people are visiting and the young girl with the long blonde hair is casually drinking a coffee. I found coats that fit both dogs, bought them and left.

I have never seen customer service so poor at any Zamzows that I have ever visited. The manager at this store needs to shake up the employees and get them them to realize that flirting isn't as important as customer satisfaction.

I love this place! My German shepherd was itchy so bad from the nature domain food I was feeding him from Costco. The employee there recommended grandma zs fish and potato. With in two weeks his coat us so shiny and he hasn't scratching much. Thank you!

This rating is only for the grooming service, not the store. I've been there twice in the last couple of months and both times a groomer (the same one) was being really rough with the dog she was grooming. The dog was yelping and she was grabbing it's leg and pulling him/her around on the table while yelling at him/her. It made me so sad.

I stood there and watched thinking if she knew someone was watching she would be nicer, not so. I was there again, and the same thing happened. I would definitely not take my animal there for grooming. I'm not sure why this woman is working as a groomer when clearly she has no patience for animals.

Well, I tried the the Zamzows lawn program and would not recommend it. My lawn is in the worst shape ever. My water bill double trying to get it to come back. I went to the meridian store to get out of the program. I told the young manager I just want my money back and take me out of the program. I was trying to stay calm and told them just refund me I dont want it, refund me and I will leave.

He smirked at me and then I got pissed. He refunded me only $60 of the $100 I paid for the program, because I only brought back one bag. When I got home I looked at the web site. I called and talked to a manager at another store and he told me I should have been refunded all my money. I went back to the Meridian store and asked to be refunded all my money.

He smirked again and told me I can only be refunded for what I brought back. I told him what the other manager said so he called over the assistant manager. I started talking to the assistant manager and the young manager stuck his hand in front of my face and started talking to the assistant manager. I told him never to put his hand in my face while I was talking.

I ask them how i can bring back a product that destroyed my lawn. I said if my lawn looked great do you think I would be here. Only after I told them I was going to call Gregg Schneider @208-465-3630 ext # 1120 on Tuesday when he is off vacation and started to walk out. Then the assistant manager said to refund me. I will never believe Zamzows about anything they guarantee because you have to make a scene for them to refund you!

I will not again buy another product from Zamzows. I will also make sure to tell anyone I can about their lawn program. I would have went away quietly had they not tried to rip me off after I ask for a refund. I would not even written this review. This product may work for some but after the way I was treated at the Zamzows I am done with them. I am still pissed about the $150 meridian water bill I have trying to get my lawn back.

I have spent alot of money at this store and now they will never get another dime from me. If I could give them a negative 5 stars for customer service I would. Jim Zamzows needs to work on his people's customer sevice, commercials might get people in the door but customer sevice is what keeps them!

I've been hearing the commercials for Zamzow's constantly since I moved to Boise a couple years ago. I heard pretty much only good things about this local company. I know it's more expensive than Petco, but I figured that since I put the effort in to eat healthy myself, my brand new Chocolate Lab puppy deserves the same treatment. Zamzow's has top quality dog food and treats as well as toys and a groomer on site.

I got the Master Chief (my pup) fluffed up and smelling good for only $25, which is cheaper than a lot of places. I don't mind spoiling The Chief, just so long as he grows into his name. The Manager, Rich, was a great help in getting me squared away with lawn care stuff too. Email reminders help me plan out when to fertilize my lawn. Summer is coming and I don't want my lawn to look awful like it does now. Anyway, Zamzow's is local and top quality. There is a large staff that can almost take you on individually. It's worth the money if you can manage it.

I love the Ol Zimzams! It's alright in my book. Cool pets and great garden selection. I love love love the chicken section! They have some unique merchandise not found in the more popular stores here. Prices are reasonable. The downside: I don't like how the employees stare at you and nag you. Also the spokesperson Jim Zamzow annoys the ever loving crap outta me on the radio. We get it, shut up already about your lawn.

Love Zamzows! I attend their classes when I can and use their lawn products for almost all of my lawn and tree/shrubs maintenance. If I follow their directions, I get great results. Most of their employees are super knowledgable and can answer all my questions!

If I could give them a negative star I would. The groomers at Zamzows have no idea how to treat dogs. I took my sweet boy into get washed and trimmed up, and they told me to come back at 5:30 to pick him up. I explained that he was nervous, but they just ignored me. About an hour and a half later I get a call from them and they tell me to come get him. "He's ready to be picked up." I said, "Wow that was fast." They went on to explain that they hadn't bathed him or brushed him, but they had shaved "part of his butt, " but he was out of control and couldn't be handled.

And then they told me they wanted $40 for "their time and effort." My husband went to get him, and I wish I could post a picture of what he looked like. they had literally shaved two small patches down to the skin. and that was it! They had also terrified him to the point where he followed us at our feet for hours after being picked up. This from the kind of dogs that small children literally hang on him and his reaction is to lick them.

My husband refused to pay the lady. to which the woman told him it was "on his conscience." He just laughed and told her that what she did to our dog will be on her conscience. When I took him to get fixed at K-9 Wash n' Go (http://www.yelp.com/biz/k-9-wash-n-go-boise-3) they couldn't believe what had happened. He was even more nervous this time, but they fixed him right up. "Nobody knows AT Zamzow's" should be their slogan when it comes to pets. never again.

I took my puppy here to get her nails trimmed. She was approx 12 weeks old, and puppy sized for sure. The lady who trimmed her nails had a really difficult time handling my dog, and so I sat down on the floor to soothe her while the groomer trimmed her nails. Little did I know (only after a vet consult did I realize the problem), the trimmer cut my dog's nails WAY too short.so short she started yelping and bleeding.

When I told the trimmer her nails were bleeding, she proceeding cutting like she didn't care and informed me I had the worst behaved dog she had ever worked with. UM, that could be because she is hurt and bleeding! I stopped her and asked her not to continue. The previous time I had been in for a trim I was charged 7 dollars, the rate for puppies and smaller dogs.

This time, she charged the full amount. When I questioned it she told me that it was because my dog didn't behave and gave her trouble. Haven't returned since. Zamzows is decent at best for animals. Great for lawn, plants, etc. but I would NEVER take my dog back there again and I would never recommend that anyone else do so either. My poor dog was traumatized from the experience and so was I!
