After a lifetime of loving all animals, in 2003, I began Veda's Dog Day Afternoon. With the aid of my trusty canine co-worker Bandito and my customized pet van, I've provided superb personalized care for animals and their owners since then. Since 1998, I've volunteered at PAWS Wildlife helping them to rehabilitate injured and orphaned animals brought in with the aim of releasing them back into the wild.

Next to Nature was established in 1995 by Liz and Paul Laballarte to supply healthy pet treats and foods and quality accessories to the pet lovers of West Seattle. Liz, as the daughter of the owners of Crown Hill Pet, had extensive knowledge in pet provides retailing and wanted to provide healthier alternatives to the products then provided at the local big-box chains.

Debbie has a background in human medicine. Her interest in holistic health led her to a career in massage. She is an honors graduate of Ashmead College, as well as Northwest School of Animal Massage. Debbie has been enamored with all animals, but especially dogs and has been fascinated by the human/canine connection for her entire lifetime.

Our gourmet dog treats are made with superior human-grade food ingredients with no preservatives, cornmeal or fillers. Our grains are grown domestically. Most of our cookies are wheat free, ensuring a best quality treat for our friends with wheat intolerance. Our purchase of Simon and Huey Soft Training Treats has expanded our range.
