Educated Pet The name of the company is The Educated Pet. This is not a misnomer. The name was chosen to reflect our commitment to the education of the pet, the owners, and ourselves to provide the best loving, humane, and scientifically based solutions of companion animal behavior problems. After all, some of our best relationships are with our pets. The Educated Pet was founded in San Diego in 1998 to meet the needs of conscientious pet owners who are faced with uncertainty about how to forge a life-long relationship with their furry friends or how to deal with problems that threaten that relationship.
Services
What We Offer
Report
In this fun and unique classs, we visit parks, shopping centers, restaurants and other public venues. Your teenage puppy still gets the opportunity to play with their canine friends, while we add self control and leash manners. Just like teenage children, this is the time when your puppy starts testing boundaries, questions your authority, and overall taxes your patience!

The staff of The Educated Pet are all highly trained professionals. We are led by Carol Harris, one of the first trainers in San Diego to pass the Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) Test. Ms. Harris is also a recognized expert in canine behavior. We all strive to bring you the most up-to-date, humane training techniques available.
Training Services
Report
If participating in a group class does not meet your needs or fit your schedule, arrangements can be made for either in-home or private training lessons. These one-on-one sessions are a valuable method for creating the responsive dog you love to be with. Private training is a great way to start off with a new puppy in your home.
Consultations
Report
The Educated pet offers behavior consultations for both dogs and cats. Millions of pets are relinquished every year because of solvable behavior issues. Unfortunately, many owners do not know where to turn for help. Our goal at The Educated Pet is to help owners and their pets work through these behavior issues, and keep the animals in their homes.
