Your Trusted Partner for Animal Welfare & Adoption Services
Founded in 1971, the Humane Society of Catawba County (HSCC) has dedicated over five decades to advancing animal welfare through compassionate care, adoption services, and community education. Our mission centers on reducing pet overpopulation via low-cost spay/neuter programs, vaccine clinics, and educational initiatives. In 2007, we opened The Pat Anderson Center for Animal Adoption and Humane Education, a no-kill shelter serving as the countys sole nonprofit companion animal service organization. Our team of experienced veterinarians, adoption counselors, and volunteers has placed thousands of animals into loving homes while offering critical resources like pet food assistance and feral cat management.HSCCs expertise in animal health and population control is evidenced by partnerships with national organizations like Humane Alliance, which informed our clinics design to reduce euthanasia rates by 60% in similar communities. We maintain authoritativeness through transparent operations, public reporting, and collaborations with local governments to address animal welfare challenges. Our trustworthiness is reinforced by rigorous medical protocols, client education, and a commitment to ethical practices that prioritize animal and community well-being.

Services include pre-surgical health checks, pain management, and post-operative care instructions. Veterinarians use modern techniques to ensure safety and comfort, with pricing based on animal weight and complexity. This program has sterilized thousands of animals annually since 2007.
Adoption Services
We offer comprehensive adoption services featuring microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed/neutered cats and dogs. All animals receive medical screening and behavioral evaluations before adoption, with post-adoption support available for new owners.
Vaccine Clinics
Low-cost curbside vaccine clinics protect pets against rabies, distemper, bordetella, and other diseases. Services include rabies certification, heartworm testing, and microchipping. Clinics operate Monday-Friday with flexible scheduling options and pricing starting at $10 for core vaccines.

I adopted a pet from the humane society on a Saturday. The process was smooth and took roughly an hour. I had questioned if the animal had been treated for fleas and the answer was yes. We were told the animal we had chosen was "finicky". So we sat and played with him for roughly 45 mins and decided that we wanted him. Paperwork completed and we were on our way home. We get home and he acclimates to our home nicely.
He required lots of reassurance (typical for a rescue). During a petting he out of nowhere attacked myself and my husband, biting us both repeatedly. Long story short, they shouldn't have adopted out an animal with such aggression problems and I found out that he did have fleas. Better vetting could be done on their animals.

Got my cat fixed here last week - my other cat had bit her so they called and asked if I wanted to get her a shot to prevent infection. Incision looks great and cat seems no worse for wear. Also got my dog here, and he is the greatest Australian Shepherd to ever exist. Ten thumbs up.

This is the absolute worst humane society I have ever been to, or seen in my life. The hoops I had to jump through to even get an appointment to look at a puppy is ridiculous. Now after getting my puppy we had to come back for one shot scheduled at 3pm but the have one vet tech and scheduled 5 others for the same time. Can you say unprofessional and I considerate because now I'm going to be sitting here for over an hour when I had a set appointment. go to the charlotte humane society they are so much better:
