We're excited to re-vamp our Humane Society Newsletter! Paws and Claws will be published twice a year and sent out through email. Our newsletter used to go out quarterly, but since our social media and website are so active, we thought it'll be bigger and better just twice a year. Paper copies will be available upon request. Our shelter is overcrowded and we are in desperate need of foster families. If you are interested in being our hero and becoming a foster, please fill out the application and send it to [email protected].

About
Report
The Humane Society of Wicomico County has worked to match homeless animals with their forever families for over 50 years. We are an open-admission shelter which means any lost, found, stray, injured, neglected, abandoned, or surrendered animal from our county in need of refuge will not be turned away.
Wicomico County Animal Control
Report
If you call and receive voicemail, please leave a message. Animal Control will not receive your complaint unless you leave a message. Officers are often out on dangerous calls or rescuing animals from potentially deadly situations that may take priority over other instances. Your call will be returned when the Animal Control Officers return to the office.
Dogs and Puppies
Report
Many of our animals that come to us came from unstable or neglectful living environments. These animals need the time, love, and care of their new adopter and for their adopter to be patient throughout the process. Adopting an animal does help our shelter, but we want you to be fully prepared for the big lifestyle change it will be on your family.
Foster
Report
We are always looking for foster families to help us provide care for animals outside of a shelter environment. As a foster, you can choose if you'd like to take a litter of bottle baby kittens, rehab a pup, or even take a dog for a field trip out of the kennel for a day! If you are looking for pet but aren't 100% ready for a lifetime commitment, the temporary element of fostering may be perfect for you. If you are fostering, HSWC must be advised of any medical concerns as they are still our property.
