Suffolk County SPCA: Animal Rescue & Protection Experts
Founded in 1984, the Suffolk County SPCA has been the sole authorized organization dedicated to enforcing animal cruelty laws and providing humane services throughout Suffolk County, New York. Our unique MASH unit delivers spay/neuter clinics, educational programs, and pet care assistance for senior citizens while managing large-scale feral animal population control. Staffed by civilian volunteers and law enforcement-trained peace officers, we combine community outreach with legal enforcement of New York State Agriculture and Market Law.Our specialized K-9 rescue support extends to federal, state, and municipal agencies across five states, reflecting our commitment to animal welfare beyond local boundaries. With over 3,000 abuse cases reported annually, our volunteer-driven operations maintain critical rabies clinics, animal rescue missions, and disaster preparedness programs. As an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we receive no government funding or affiliation with national organizations, relying entirely on public donations to sustain our lifesaving work.

Services
Animal Rescue
Our 24/7 emergency response team specializes in rescuing animals from abuse, neglect, and disaster situations. With specialized equipment and trained personnel, we respond to over 3,000 cruelty reports annually. Our services include large-scale animal seizures, disaster evacuation, and coordination with law enforcement for criminal investigations.
Spay/Neuter Clinics
Mobile MASH units provide low-cost spay/neuter services for domestic and feral animals. This program prevents animal overpopulation while offering free clinics for low-income seniors. Our efforts have sterilized tens of thousands of animals, reducing shelter intake and improving community animal welfare.
Law Enforcement
Specially trained peace officers enforce New York State animal cruelty laws with full arrest authority. We investigate abuse cases, execute search warrants, and testify in criminal prosecutions. Our legal team works with district attorneys to ensure justice for abused animals and proper sentencing for offenders.
Educational Programs
We deliver comprehensive humane education to schools and community groups. Programs cover responsible pet ownership, animal welfare laws, and disaster preparedness. Our outreach includes free rabies clinics, pet care workshops, and senior citizen assistance programs to promote animal safety across all demographics.
K-9 Rescue Support
We provide technical rescue capabilities for working K-9 units across five states. Our team handles complex extrications, medical treatment, and recovery operations for police and military dogs. This specialized service includes training for first responders on K-9 emergency care protocols.

I called about a dog that's starving in my neighbors house, she was outside in the rain, I tried giving her some treats but she was just trying to get back in her house, I was able to put her back in so she could go to her porch but she needs help immediately I can't bring her to my house because my dog don't like other dogs!

So grateful that this organization takes pride in speaking for thoses who do not necessarily have a voice themselves. I had a compliant on animal abuse and sprung into action within 2 hours of my complaint! They kindly kept me updated on the status and I commend them for all their commitment, hard work and dedication to ensuring the safely if ALL animals! They take every case seriously and hopefully get to the bottom of this poor neglected undernourished animal that deserves to be treated better!

What are the pictures on this site showing? Are those the conditions at the SPCA? Or are these pictures of places where animals were rescued from? Please clarify. Very disturbing.

I had nquired about fostering a poor bird and dog where the owner was hospitalized and possibly not coming out. I stopped at there hauppauge cubicle as the rest of the building looks like a storage building. I gave them my name number and that I own a pet feed business. I informed them I was interested in fostering into adoption incase the gentlemen were to recover and be able to care for his pets again.
I inquired on a time frame for when the animal's would be released as I wanted if the gentleman would loke bring his dog to see him. They had no ideawhat was happening. Few days layelamy fatherfinally got in touch with someone who said would contact us as we were the first on the list for a walk through. I have several dogs and birds and even a few pigs. We were willing to do a wal through and let the dog meet everyone.
She decided we were not a good fit aend hitter blew us off. Normally not a big deal but this is the deglazing tine being blown off by this spca. Alls they want is donations. It is sad but not even a courtesy call and a poor reason as all my animals are happy as can be and I have everything from a pitbull to chihuahuas.
