Dr. Marcia Whited grew up in Denison, Iowa, where she felt an innate connection with the earth's creatures from the time she could walk. As she got a little older, she developed a strong relationship with her childhood family pet. Those early experiences made a permanent impression! Dr. Whited always knew that she wanted to devote herself to bettering the lives of animals in whatever way she could.

Growing up on a small rural farm, one of Jodi's first memories occurred at the young age of 10, when she helped deliver a litter of pigs, which she then raised and showed at the county fair. This triggered a love of agriculture and animals, which inspired her many years of 4-H participation. After spending several years in the health care industry, Jodi is thrilled to return to her first love: working with animals.

After walking into this clinic for the first time a few weeks ago, I can confidently say that I will remain here long-term for my veterinary care. The staff and Dr. Whited are very caring, compassionate, and knowledgeable, and took the time to get to know my cat on a personal level. They made an individual care plan specific to his needs, versus other facilities that have your animal in and out within 10-15 minutes.
This was the main reason that I wanted to change clinics in the first place and here, I found my answer. They took the time to listen to my questions and concerns and were very patient and understanding. To me, this is very important and is one of my main deciding factors when choosing a clinic. I can truly say that Dr. Whited and the staff saved my cat's life, as they caught his kidney disease early by doing an in-depth examination and blood work- something that was never done or even brought up at other vet clinics.
They put him on a special diet and medication and will closely be monitoring his progress so he is hopefully able to spend several more wonderful years with me. This veterinary clinic specializes in preventative medicine and individualized treatment, which is WELL worth it if you truly love your pet as family and want to stay on top of their health status! I owe it to the team at the Carroll Small Animal Clinic for giving me more time with my sweet boy!

Awesome vet. My dog had been seeing Dr. Whiting for acupuncture and Chinese herbs. I can always tell he feels better after his visit. It can be frustrating dealing with your pet's chronic illness and feeling like you have run out of options, so it was very refreshing to find out that someone near us offered these services. Thank you Dr. Whiting for taking such great care of my dog!

We were skeptical at first but the acupuncture and diet plan recommended by Dr. Whited have been a game changer for our highly anxious older cattle dog. I highly recommend thinking outside the box and trying her alternative options for care and wellness! Finley is calmer and just a happier dog, it was a dramatic difference.

If I could give zero stars I would. After what my husband experienced today with our cat Leo (Reo) They spelt our cats name wrong on the paperwork, Expects us to spend half of rent on a spay when there are cheaper options for the same operation! The doctor was rude and hostile! We will be taking our Leo somewhere else! Cause he deserves better care from a vet clinic that actually cares about animals and not about a paycheck!

I know they have the right to refuse if dogs don't cooperate but they didn't even try for that long. Mikos appointment was at 9am it's 9:04am. I usually take him to his groomer at country clips but she was booked so we thought let's try Carroll. Yes he was scared but aren't you guys professionals? Don't you do this everyday? I'll never book again. Btw he is a bichon frise 13 lbs or less. 1 year old

Our dog Coco had dental work done this week. She came through it like a champ thanks to the doctor and staff. We appreciated that the doctor gave a complete explanation of the procedure before and after as well as visual images of the diagnosis. Its tough leaving your furbaby for a day. We were given a call after the procedure with an update. Also, really appreciate the day after call at home. Thanks Carroll Small Animal Clinic! Ken and Deb Pedersen

Dr. Whited and her crew have been taking care of my cats for about a dozen years. The vet I had been going to had me thinking that veterinary medicine wasn't very advanced. I soon learned that wasn't true. Dr. Whited keeps on the cutting edge, learning and using new techniques. I took a shelter cat to her for a corneal ulcer (I was working at the shelter at the time) who still has the sight in that eye only because of Dr. Whited's treatment. Dr. Whited listens, examines and orders tests that are appropriate.
She has worked slowly with my shy cats, gaining their trust by working at their pace - backing off if needed. She is knowledgeable about behavioral issues and will suggest different ways to attack the problem until a solution is found. A few years ago my cat Bob ate something he shouldn't and had an intestinal blockage. I was terrified for him but knew he was at the right place with the right person doing the surgery. I don't think it is an exaggeration to say Dr. Whited saved his life. I highly recommend Dr. Whited and her staff.

We got a new puppy and decided to go to Carroll Small Animal Clinic after talking to my neighbors. With Covid-19 you can't go in they come to your car. I have never been inside but from day one Nicole the receptionist had won my heart and my puppy Indy too. She is very loving and kind. My puppy goes crazy happy when she sees her. Kelsey is the groomer she did a puppy series to start and did a cut on Indy for the first time last week.
She did an awesome job just like we wanted it and her nails too. The grooming was one of my biggest concerns. Kelsey also is very kind. Katie and Dr Whited were both super helpful in the beginning answering questions and sending helpful email to remind us about puppy stuff and help us to train. Indy also goes to play and socialize too. They have all been very good to us. Indy is excited to go inside which makes it easier. So far we are impressed and very happy.

Always a great experience here. Doctor and assistants care about our boys the way we do without pressuring for more options and costs than what we agree to. Bowser has high anxiety and always gets the professional care and the time he needs to get his annuals and grooming without added stress. Would recommend this office to anyone who asks.
