In-Home Pet Euthanasia & End of Life Care in Tucson
Pawprints Veterinary Housecall was founded on the principle that end-of-life care for pets should be as compassionate and personalized as their lives. We specialize in in-home euthanasia services across the Tucson metro area, including Vail, Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, Green Valley, Benson, and surrounding communities. Our mission is to provide pets and their families with a peaceful, stress-free experience during one of life's most difficult moments. Dr. Aimee Ratzlaff, a lifelong Arizona resident and graduate of Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, brings over a decade of clinical expertise to our practice. After eight years in general veterinary medicine, she transitioned exclusively to end-of-life care to help families navigate the emotional and logistical challenges of saying goodbye.

Our services prioritize comfort, dignity, and respect for pets while offering families the opportunity to remain in familiar surroundings. We provide comprehensive aftercare options, including individual and communal cremation, aquamation, and paw print memorials. Our approach emphasizes open communication, personalized support, and honoring the unique bond between pets and their humans. With flexible appointment scheduling and urgent care availability, we strive to accommodate the needs of every family we serve.

Services
In-Home Euthanasia
Our in-home euthanasia service allows pets to pass peacefully in familiar surroundings. The process begins with a sedative to ensure comfort, followed by a painless euthanasia injection. Families remain with their pets throughout the procedure, which typically takes 15-20 minutes. We provide clear explanations of each step while respecting individual needs for privacy and time.
Individual Cremation
This aftercare option ensures your pet's remains are returned to you in a personalized wood urn. We coordinate transport to trusted cremation partners while maintaining strict chain-of-custody protocols. Families receive their pet's ashes within two weeks, accompanied by a complimentary paw print impression if requested.
Aquamation Services
Aquamation uses water flow and alkalinity to gently decompose organic material. This eco-friendly alternative produces finer, lighter remains than traditional cremation. We partner with certified providers to offer both individual and communal aquamation options, ensuring the same respectful handling as all our aftercare services.
Grief Support
We provide resources and guidance to help families navigate the grieving process. Our support includes pre-appointment counseling to discuss expectations, post-procedure resources for coping with loss, and recommendations for memorializing pets. We also share information about local pet loss support groups and online resources.
Urgent Appointments
We prioritize urgent requests for pets experiencing sudden decline or distress. Our team accommodates same-day appointments when possible and provides telephone guidance while awaiting arrival. The same compassionate protocols apply during emergency visits, with additional flexibility for unpredictable circumstances.

Dr. Aimee couldn't have been more understanding, compassionate, and gentle. I believe she went above and beyond all expectations for home end-of-life care. Lucy left a hole in our hearts, but Dr. Aimee helped ease our sweet girl onto her next journey with dignity and love. Thank you!

Dr. Aimee was a blessing to have over to put our dog to sleep peacefully. She was caring, considerate, calm and everything else that you want in someone who's going to put your baby down. I highly recommend her to anyone who has to go through this!

I cannot express my sincere gratitude for Dr. Aimee's services as a trusted vet, consultant, and as an objective observer of my dog's health. I had the opportunity to connect with Dr. Aimee through a friend who had to say goodbye to their cat. They said that Dr. Aimee treated them with the compassion, understanding, and care anyone could hope for in this difficult situation. My experience with her has met and exceeded these expectations. Dr. Aimee came to the house, got on her knees, and looked my dog (Friday) in his eyes.

She assessed his condition, and she offered me honest, loving feedback about where he is. We are meeting every two weeks or so, and she is treating Friday for his pulmonary fibrosis and neurological mobilization issues. I could not ask for a kinder, more competent vet to help my dog through this time in his life.

This is the best service to use. Dr. Aimee Rodden is so kind, professional. Her demeanor is so loving. Once I talked to her I knew she would be the one to assist our beautiful girl over the Rainbow Bridge. Thank you for your caring heart.

I was pointed to Dr. Van Cleve by one of our primary vets as she is available over the weekend, and she was very responsive as an emergency unfolded over fewer than 24 hours on Saturday/Sunday. We eventually opted for euthanasia for our dog and Dr. Van Cleve was very communicative and compassionate throughout the whole process. The procedure was as peaceful as it could have been for our dog and while I'm still reeling from the whole experience, I'm very glad that we were able to work last minute with Dr. Van Cleve.
