Hello - we're Mike and Christine, and we opened Green Dog in August of 2004. We were originally New Englanders; we met and lived in Boston, then moved to Atlanta for 9 years, and moved joyfully to Portland in 2001. We finally found a city that suits us perfectly - we're really home now. We make a good little team, professionally speaking.

There are many products in the store made from recycled materials; from beds that use fleece made from recycled soda bottles, to leashes made from retired climbing rope, to one of a kind metal animals cut from the hoods of old cars. We all know that recycling is important, but purchasing products made with recycled materials "closes the loop".

Foods We Carry

Our criteria for foods are that they all be made from human grade ingredients. None of our foods have corn, wheat or soy and are naturally preserved. We also make every effort to evaluate the safety standards of the company that manufactures the foods, seeking transparent companies that have 3rd party inspections with excellent marks for manufacturing safety and quality control.
