We specialize in placing rescued Weimaraners in permanent homes across Southern California. Our adoption process includes behavioral assessments and compatibility matching. Every adoption supports our mission to give these dogs a second chance at life.

Our volunteer-run foster program provides temporary housing and socialization for Weimaraners awaiting adoption. Fosters receive full support including medical care and training resources to prepare dogs for permanent homes.

Through the Friends for Pets Foundation, we distribute grants up to $50,000 to support veterinary care for dogs in rescue organizations nationwide. This includes emergency treatments and long-term medical conditions.

We accept donations of food, toys, and essentials to care for rescue dogs. Contributions directly support our temporary care facilities and help reduce operating costs for foster families.

From weekend walks to administrative help, volunteers play vital roles in our rescue operations. Training is provided for all positions, including dog handling and adoption counseling.

Our physical facility closed in 2020 after placing the last dogs. We now operate as a foster-based rescue while continuing our grant programs.

My husband and I had our weimaraner for seven years. He was our little baby. He had free range of our home. Our dog slept with us and went everywhere with us. He was not used to other dogs or cats. He believed himself a human. When we had our baby 9 months ago, our baby was constantly sick. After seeing countless pediatricians, allergists, and dermatologists we had to finally accept that our baby could not be around any dog.

His allergy to dog protein was too high and severe. It has been the hardest thing in the world to let go of our dog. But Diane at Friends for Pets Foundation has made this as bearable as possible. They absolutely care and love these dogs. Diane has been so patient with us, so understanding, so accommodating. We had too many worries and needs, we wanted everything to be perfect for our dog. She put up with it all. Diane vetted out everyone until she found our baby the perfect new mommy.

Even with the long list of special needs our dog had, she managed to find him his forever home. We stay in touch with his new mommy regularly and I feel so blessed. Thank you Diane for everything. Friends for Pets is truly a special place. I can not thank them enough.

Friends For Pets changed our lives forever for the better! We feel SO blessed and lucky to have a rescued dog in our home! This foundation cares for the dogs, searches and bails them out of distant shelters and cares for them until they are ready for their forever home. The process is selective, you have to go through and application and home visit which is good because this breed of dog is active and needs the right families to be placed in their homes.
