Thank you for visiting us! The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization that was founded in 1972 as a lost-and-found referral service. Now, we operate at full capacity at all times, providing care and housing for up to 25 dogs and 60 cats in our facilities, and even more animals in our foster homes.

The West Suburban Humane Society (WSHS) is a volunteer-based, animal welfare organization that was founded in 1972 as a lost-and-found referral service. At that time, a small group of volunteers, working from their homes, gathered information and maintained records for the purpose of reuniting lost companion animals and their owners.
Our Mission
Report
At West Suburban Humane Society, our mission is to work towards the day when all dogs and cats are loved and cared for and pet owners have access to essential resources so they may enjoy a fulfilling relationship with their pets. Provide compassionate care for cats and dogs on their journey to compatible and loving homes.

Please read this section thoroughly before submitting an application or heading to the Adoption Center. Please note that we only consider adoption applications from Illinois residents who live in the following counties: Cook, Dupage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will. No out of state applications will be accepted at this time.
