Wood County Humane Society

Founded in 1904, the Wood County Humane Society has dedicated over a century to advancing animal welfare and strengthening the bond between humans and animals. Our mission drives comprehensive programs addressing animal cruelty, neglect, and abandonment while providing critical community resources like pet food assistance and emergency shelter for pets of domestic violence victims. As a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we rely on community support to care for approximately 1,000 animals annually, including stray cats, surrendered pets, and cruelty case rescues. Our facility houses adoptable cats and dogs, with specialized programs for barn cat placements and temporary housing. Governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and supported by dedicated staff and volunteers, we maintain rigorous standards through partnerships with local authorities and veterinary professionals.

With a legacy of service since the Minniebelle Conley Trust established our shelter in 1988, we continue innovating through initiatives like our Kuranda wish list partnerships and Kroger Community Rewards program. Our expertise in animal care spans medical treatment, spay/neuter services, and behavioral enrichment, ensuring every animal receives comprehensive care before adoption. Recognized as Wood County's leading animal welfare organization, we combine historical experience with modern solutions to address evolving community needs.
