Services
Pet Adoptions
Our comprehensive adoption program connects homeless animals with loving families. We carefully screen all adoptions to ensure proper matches while providing medical care, behavioral assessments, and post-adoption support. Every adopted pet receives vaccinations, spay/neuter services, and microchipping.
Spay/Neuter Clinic
Low-cost spay/neuter services help control pet population while improving animal health. Our clinic offers affordable surgeries for cats and dogs with appointments available weekly. Services include pre-operative exams, anesthesia, and post-operative care instructions.
TNR Program
Trap-Neuter-Return program manages feral cat populations humanely. We provide traps, surgical sterilization, vaccinations, and colony management support. This program reduces nuisance behaviors while maintaining ecological balance in local communities.
Pet Microchipping
Permanent pet identification through microchipping increases recovery chances for lost animals. Our ISO-certified chips work with universal scanners and connect to national registries. We also offer ID tag engraving services for immediate identification.
Volunteer Programs
Volunteer opportunities include animal care, event assistance, and administrative support. Our foster program provides temporary homes for animals needing special care. Training is provided for all volunteer roles with flexible time commitments available.

I just want to say I will never go to you guys or recommend you guys, or select you when I am shopping on Amazon. What would of been my first time adopting a pet was met with restrictions. (If you have a pet at home unaltered you can't adopt until the pet is spayed/neutered or have medical reason) I missed out on 6 possible adoptions because of this. Shouldn't have restrictions like this unless the person is known animal abuser or other serious reasons.
I found a 8 week old Chihuahua puppy for FREE. I tried to give you guys a shot, but there is no way I will ever think of you guys in the future or recommend to others. You lost a supporter. Now I am able to give this new pup the life it deserves. Will spoil him and take him to the vet get his shots and get him neutered and chipped. Will never forget this because it really hurt. First time I thought of getting a pet since my Dog Bear died it was spur of the moment when I seen those pictures. I hope you can try to be less restrictive with the rules when you are trying to give pets up for adoption. Looks like this place has a lot of recent negative reviews.

I could not be happier with my experience at the Hornell Area Humane Society. From start to finish the adoption process of my new cat was so easy. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The facility is clean and organized. I can't say enough good things about them! If you are looking to adopt a pet-go check them out. Sweet little Bitsy-now Misty-is a sweet, loving cat who has settled in quite well!

I took my kitties to get fixed after waiting for over 6 months due to the pandemic. All cats were healthy. A few days after coming home they all got very sick and I have now lost 6 of them . I have messaged and called and they offered no help or anything. After calling numerous vets I was finally able to get them in some where and was told more then likely they contracted what they think is distemper from this place! Our family is devastated over this and we hope we dont lose anymore of our fur babies!

We recently adopted a three year old Labrador Retriever mix from here. We applied on a Friday, the shelter got back to us the same day, and we were able to meet our new family member on Monday! The application process was reasonable, yet it made sure our lifestyle was compatible with our dog's energy level, and personality! We could have taken her home Monday but because she was a little shy with my fiance we visited her again on Wednesday and we were able to take her home for a two week foster to adopt trial that day.
This is a great concept that other shelters should use! The staff checked in throughout the two weeks to make sure things were going well and to check if we needed anything. I would definitely adopt through this shelter again, they seem to really care for the animals in their care!

We had such a good experience adopting here! Everyone has been so friendly and supportive; clearly joyful and dedicated to what they do. And they were committed to making sure we had the right pup for our family as well! I recommend them to anyone looking to add to their family!

I adopted the kitty Lainey on June 3rd 2020. She's been nothing but a delight, and so was the entire process of adopting her. She was pregnant when I first inquired about her and I was kept updated on every step of the way about where she was in her recovery from spaying and when she would be available. Kim answered all our questions and helped me understand the entire process. It was clear that both the employees at Hornell and Lainey's foster family really cared about her and I'm so proud/glad that I found this little angel! She's acclimated so well and I have no doubt that's due in part to Hornell's great care in taking her in.
