Donate
Report
Your donation will be used towards things like animal care, food and nutrition, toys and bedding to medical needs like spay and neuter surgeries, immunizations and rehabilitative medical care. We are dedicated to the care and welfare of abused, abandoned, sick and injured animals that come through our doors every day.
Adoption Info & Fees
Report
Upon adoption, you will receive a complimentary veterinarian exam that can be used at many local offices. Our animals are up to date on vaccines and are spayed or neutered. Dogs are tested for Heartworm (6 months +) and put on heartworm, flea and worm preventative. They also receive vaccines for parvo/distemper, Bordetella and canine influenza, spay or neuter surgery and are microchipped.
Cat Application
Report
This application is designed to help us determine if the adoption is in the cat's best interest, and to assist you in finding a compatible pet for your lifestyle. An unwise adoption can result in an unpleasant experience for both the adoptive family and the pet and may ruin the pet for future adoption.
About the APL
Report
Portage APL began as a grassroots organization in the early 1950's. After filing articles of incorporation in the spring of 1955, we became the first nonprofit humane organization in Portage County. Our original goals were to prevent cruelty and neglect, enforce humane laws, and inform the public of its legal responsibilities in the care and handling of animals.
