Each adoption includes vaccinations, microchipping, and spay/neuter services to ensure long-term animal health.
Spay/Neuter Clinic
Opening in 2025, our low-cost spay/neuter clinic will offer affordable surgical services for cats and dogs. This initiative aims to reduce pet overpopulation through accessible veterinary care. Services will include pre-op consultations, surgery, and post-operative follow-ups by licensed professionals.
Volunteer Programs
Volunteers assist with animal care, adoption events, and administrative tasks to support our mission. No prior experience is required, and training is provided for all roles. Participants gain hands-on experience while directly improving animal welfare outcomes.
Retail Store
The Homeward Bound Retail Store sells premium pet food, toys, and accessories to support animal care. Proceeds fund medical treatments, shelter operations, and adoption initiatives. Products are carefully selected to meet the needs of dogs, cats, and other companion animals.

HS took in this beauty in to be adopted after I found her under 52 near downtown Winston Salem. She is spayed and ready for her forever home. Thank you HS, for giving "Goldie" a second chance in life.

Visited just to look around at the cats and dogs and ended up adopting the sweetest cat. Had a great experience and would recommend anyone in Winston to adopt their pets from here.

Me, my wife and my children came to the humane society yesterday. We looked at several dogs and finally made the decision to adopt a mixed breed dog named Ronald. Since then Ronald has stolen the hearts of our whole family. He fits right in. Such a good boy. We just wanted to thank the staff for all the guidance of finding the perfect fit. Everyone was super nice and answered all the questions we asked. Thank you so much for letting us adopt this wonderful animal.
