At the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark we are passionate about ensuring the protection and welfare of all animals in need. This passion is the Mission of our service and the legacy that was left to us by our founder Robert Kleinstuber. Robert began the shelter in 1959 as a memorial to his beloved dog, Jeff. His hard work paved the way for the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark.
This spirit is what drives us each day to do the best we can for the good of all animals. We currently contract with 7 municipalities in Orange & Sullivan Counties as their dog control impound facility, however, we extend our intake services on a case-by-case basis when space is available throughout the tri-state area.

Adopt
Report
We are so happy that you are considering adopting a pet from the Humane Society of Port Jervis/Deerpark. Our pets are excellent candidates for a new loving home. Many of our animals are with us because their owners could no longer care for them. Others were brought to us as strays and were never claimed by their owners.
Before & After
Report
Even if he had the will to live and his body hadn't completely given out on him, it would cost a tremendous amount of money for treatment & rehab and we would need somewhere for him to go while he recovered. We reached out to East Coast Gentle Giants and without hesitation they said they would take him!
Donate
Report
It cost approximately $1,000 a day to keep our doors open! As a private humane society, we do not get financial assistance from any other organization such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA. We run on money from private donors, municpal dog control contracts, fundraising events, corporate sponsors, adoption fees, and grants.
