We carry a full line of cat and bird supplies, toys, and furnishings in our store and on-line. We only carry products from companies that use pet safe materials. We also have our own line of products which we make ourselves getting a majority of our raw supplies from local or USA only companies. We have created something unique by combining cat and bird lodging into our retail showrooms.Each cat family stays in their own suite and enjoys the many amenities of climbing ramps, water fountain, etc. Each walk-in suite is a minimum of 4ft x 6 ft x 8 ft high with a window door to look out on to the aviary or to supervise the business.

The Purring Parrot is owned and managed by Maria and Patrick Brinson. We decided to open up a place for our feline and avian companions because we noticed that the level of service for dogs has grown while cats and birds have been left behind. For pet owners that may not want a sitter coming into their home or may want their animal companions to have more than one or two short visits a day, we felt we could not only offer more then what is currently available but also raise the level of care for cats and birds when staying away from home.

The Aviary: All cages in our semi sound-proof display room are models of cages we have available for purchase, which can be good if you happen to need a new cage. This way your bird gets to try out the cage to see if they like it. All birds get their own cage. We have music being played as well as colorful decor.

Yes, we do. No, it does not cost extra. Time will be spent with kitty in their suite for play, brushing, massages, or whatever kitty likes. Housekeeping is done twice daily which allows for attention time and we also include one on one play sessions. For entertainment: Not only do we have playtimes but some suites face our Aviaries or have windows that look outside.

If you live in San Diego then stop by and see all the products we don't have on-line and our Birdie Bakery. We only sell from companies that use pet-safe materials. For The Purring Parrot line of products we use local resources or USA only and make the items ourselves. We are now cutting and coloring our own wood such as Balsa, Sugar Pine and Ponderosa Pine. If you need a harder wood for your birds let us know and we can quote you a price to cut and color it.
