Veterinarians
Report
Our veterinarians are dedicated to the health and well-being of the pets in our community, and regularly take advantage of continuing education opportunities to ensure they remain knowledgeable and skilled in the latest developments in veterinary medicine. Dr. Bob Arend became a partner at the practice in 1989 after working 3 years as an associate in two separate small animal practices - the first in Galveston, and the second in Amarillo, Texas. He also spent a year working at a small animal emergency clinic in Lubbock and doing veterinary relief work for hospitals.
Dental Care
Report
The statistics are staggering, 85% of pets over the age of 3 have some form of dental disease. Like humans, pets need regular dental care. Good oral health is important for maintaining healthy teeth and gums, but it is also extremely important for the overall health of the pet. An infection in the mouth can lead to infection throughout the body, which can cause illness. Poor dental hygiene can lead to pets having kidney, heart and liver disease. A substance called calculus (tartar) forms on the teeth.
